It's not in the description that I could see, but you have to download the original mod from here>>>https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71762?tab=files You want the first file and not the second retexture file on the original mod page. Vortex didn't show that it required any rules, but I set one up anyway where this upgrade loads after the original mod. Looks amazing on my male follower.
For people experiencing the "1st person" armor bug...as in the collar being visible in 1st person view occasionally, there is a simple fix, but it requires using NifSkope and the CK. I've edited the mesh & .esp myself, so if the mod author is okay with it, I'd be happy to share it with anyone interested.
In simplest terms, you need to create a 1st person view .nif. Open the armor_1.nif in NifSkope and remove all the parts except for the arms...which is all you need. This can be done by right-clicking on the bits you want to "cut out", and selecting Block->Remove Branch. Once the excess bits are removed, go to Spells->Batch-> select Update Tangent Spaces, then SAVE AS, not SAVE the new mesh with an obvious file name, like 1stPerson_armor_1.nif.
Next, open the .esp in the CK...locate the ArmorAddon section...NOT the Armor section. Each piece of this gear has "aaaa" at the start of its editor ID name, so it's easy-peasy to find it all using the filter. Find the piece called "aaaKaerMohenArmor", double click on it / open it up, and locate the First Person window. Hit the Select button and navigate to your new 1st person model .nif...once you've picked it, save the .esp and exit.
This all sounds super complicated, but it takes no time at all to do this.
Hey, man! If you don't mind helping me a little bit here... I followed your instructions up to the point of changing it in the CK. I can't change the 1st person model, it gives me a "invalid directory" error of some sorts. Googled it a bit and found nothing that could help me solve it.
Thanks for the little fix btw, this armor is perfect for my current toon but that bug... arrrgh!
Seem to be having an issue. I followed your guide to the letter, but ended up with this.

This has happened before when I tried to fix this issue on other armors.
Note, it's not Enhanced Camera doing it, it still happened even with it disabled, the only difference being the body was not there. The problem of the missing arms still was there.
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it. I had decided to just drag the esp from MO into Data, edit it there, then put it back in MO to save time instead of just running the creation kit through MO. Turns out just pointing it to the mesh isn't enough. Even if you point it at the right mesh, if you don't see the mesh in the creation kit, it won't work in game. Gonna leave this here in case anyone makes the same mistake I did.
Hi, I just thought I would mention that this seems to work flawlessly with special edition. I installed it manually with NMM because there isn't any Kaer Moren armors for special edition and I wanted to see if it works. To my surprise it does. I enchanted every item and all of them look amazing with no missing/glitchy textures. I have only played with them on for a few hours, but so far so good. Thanks for the great looking armor (my new favorite).
Thanks! This is a good-looking armor - I would love to see a female version. (before anyone sees fit to educate me: yes I know Geralt is a male character, thx)
Someone over Fallout 4 Nexus actually made a male-female compatible version. It is both practical and stylish (no boob plate). They were interested in converting for Skyrim one day, but not any time soon.

IMO the 1st person bug is a very minor, occasional issue.

Meanwhile, I'll be back when I remake my Geralt follower after a HD crash x_x
Thieves Guild Character Overhaul.. Vex - Tonilia - Sapphire - Karliah - Galathil, by Hieroglyphics.
Strange is that I got redirected from that mod here to find that armour
Anyway - if you get the Overhaul mod, you will be able to get the armour from the NPC (Vex) by Additem-Menu-Mod or probably by console too.
Good Luck
