Updated "The Parthuurnax Union" to REQUIRE "The Paarthurnax Dilemma" as a master file to ensure proper sorting with LOOT. It was being sorted after Dilemma for some reason, hence the problems some people have.
Even this mod isn't good enough for me. Delphine and Esbern, ergo the Blades, should automatically adhere to MY word as the Dragonborn. I am their leader, not the other way around. It's frankly as simple as that.

Without Paarthurnax having taught the ancient Tongues how to use the Voice, we all would have still been enslaved by the dragons.
Without Paarthurnax having taught me how to learn Dragonrend, I never could have defeated Alduin.
Without Paarthurnax having waited all the centuries since Alduin's banishment atop the Throat of the World - waiting for his return - I wouldn't have even been able to LEARN the Voice.
I would have just been flailing about in the dark. Instinctual or not, the voice requires guidance in order to be used.
Without him founding the Way of the Voice and vis a vis quelling the misuse of the Voice, half of the world would have likely been destroyed by wars alone!
And so... our final verdict. You... want me... to kill Paarthurnax... just because he's a dragon? THAT is your reasoning? IDIOT! I suppose you should kill me too, I'M TECHNICALLY A DRAGON TOO!! DOES THAT SUDDENLY MAKE ME EVIL AND INVALIDATE ALL THE POSITIVE AND PROFOUND DECISIONS I'VE MADE IN MY EXISTENCE?! What I want from one of these "Save Paarthurnax" sort of mods is a simple "Shut it, you prat. I'm your boss and you do what I tell you. Now go fetch my mead."
Epic Rant. You hit the nail right on the head. The weapons grade stupidity and arrogance of Delphine and Esbern are astonishing. I just power through the main quest just so I can kill these two and be done with it. Too bad you can't turn them in to the Thalmor when they start talking out of their asses.
This isn't a rant, it describes exactly how Beth and their Blades respect The Dragonborn (aka PC) Delphine full of arrogance daring to give orders to Akatosh's child.

This Legendary rant sums up everything wrong with this quest and then some as well as my feelings towards it as a whole.I remember playing skyrim for first time and encountering this BTH of a character named Delphine.Worst first impressions scored in first meeting.I said myself okay i will go along with it for now.I continued bearing and controlling my rage as i went on so i don't ACCIDENTALLY (ON PURPOSE) KILL HER and end up failing the quests.Then in the last quest SHE HAS THE AUDACITY TO ASK ME TO KILL MY BOY PAARTHURNAX JUST BECAUSE HE IS A DRAGON????.At that moment i was like WTF???,and full on rage mode as this was the last straw for me. Also killing Paarthurnax decision was a KICK IN THE BALLS for me.So i saved a separate save and DID THE DEED JUST FOR THE SAKE of outcome and dialogue variation.Then i reloaded the save and told her to GET LOST and also killed her on the spot (for calming my inner beast and for my satisfaction) and ended the quest.The additional kicker was that the failed quest FOREVER REMAINS in your quest log if you spare PAARTHURNAX,which is another WTF??? moment for player and F U to the player moment by the game.I blame bethesda for this whole s*** show of a quest and blade arc characters.They SUCK at story and characters and their arcs like this in general.
I know it's old and barely any will see this, but.. Max von Sydow (Esbern) did a lot of movies. I can almost guarantee that some will contain useful spoken lines. I don't know if that would conflict with royalties or something. But I (think) it could be done pretty easily. Just a thought anyways.
Sure. I meant sampling lines from films/movies not related to the game. If one wanted to expand what Esbern is able to say in the game. Was just a random thought though. I doubt the OP is interested hehe
He was in a fair bit of genre-appropriate things too (Conan, Seventh Seal), or genre-adjacent (Exorcist). Extraordinary actor. Basically stole pretty much every scene in every movie he appeared in, but not by trying to, he was just that good.
1) open the Creation Kit 2) select the ESP (i.e. click the check box) 3) set it as the active file using the button at the bottom of the file list 4) let it load into the CK 5) then click Save
To answer the (admittedly very old) other question from above, I have it working with Paarthurnax Dilemma 2.01.

Update: Decided to give it a go myself. Works just fine when ported using the guide on the Nexus Wikia.
Still a major mod in my mods list!
1) open the Creation Kit
2) select the ESP (i.e. click the check box)
3) set it as the active file using the button at the bottom of the file list
4) let it load into the CK
5) then click Save
