- DESCRIPTION -

White Hearth is a moderately large fortified player home that occupies a defensive position north of Riverwood and east of Whiterun. This imperial keep comes with every amenity an adventurer could need, including smithing, enchanting, alchemy, cooking and bathing facilities, a small roof-top vegetable garden, a secret entrance/exit, guards and various merchants:

Great Hall: Features assorted weapon racks, a platform with beds for any followers you wish to leave here (I recommend the fantastic Amazing Follower Tweaks as well as My Home is Your Home), named storage and doors to the rest of the keep and the tower roof. All of the guards and staff congregate here around mealtimes, provided they're not on duty.

Tower: The player's personal space, with weapon racks, enchanting and alchemy stations (with limited planting space),
two mannequins, a range of named storage locations and bookshelves, as well as a door to a private terrace with a view of Whiterun.

Stables and Byre: Includes several (respawning) animals, a wood chopping block (along with wood storage with linked containers in all of the interior areas) and a merchant who sells hunting supplies and a few ingredients. This is the main entrance to the keep.

Armoury: Combining
named armour, weapon and material storage with all of the usual forging equipment, two mannequins, weapon racks, a smith merchant and a jail cell with a secret exit (which also serves as the way to gain initial access).

Kitchens: All of the usual cooking equipment, named storage, a food merchant and quarters for the three merchants.

Bathhouse: A relaxing space, useful for anyone using mods like the superb Realistic Needs and Diseases or others where easy access to water is useful.

Guard Quarters:
Beds and chests for each of the six guards, a weapon rack and a door to the battlements. The guards rotate around the battlements during the day and night and can be found in other interior areas at certain times.

The mod has been fully navmeshed as well as extensively play-tested and cleaned in TES5edit. It will conflict with any mod that edits the specific area of the keep, but nothing else should present any issues - it is not necessary to start a new game.

- GETTING IN -

There is no quest to obtain the keys - simply find the (not particularly cunningly hidden) secret entrance and the rest should be fairly self-explanatory (check the guide in the downloads section for directions). However, for the sake of a bit of realism, you can only take possession of White Hearth once you have become a Thane of Whiterun and purchased property in the hold (i.e. you need the Breezehome key to get in the secret entrance).

- REQUIREMENTS -

Dragonborn and Hearthfires.

- INSTALLATION -
Choose either the main file (currently 1.2) or the alternative version (1.2b) (if you prefer fewer NPCs and no merchants), and either let the Nexus install it as usual or unpack the files to your Skyrim Data directory manually.

I tend to keep backups of saves and the like, as well as using a mod organiser like the eponymous Mod Organizer. Although this is only a house mod that doesn't impact on the core files overmuch, I'd recommend the same to everyone, particularly if you run a large number of mods.

- CREDITS -

Many thanks to the following for their excellent resources:

Artisanix
Blary
Insanity Sorrow
Lilith
Oaristys
Stroti
Tamira
Yuril

(Please send me a message if I've forgotten anyone - I'm not even sure if I've used content from all of these guys in the mod, but if I haven't then take it as a general recommendation that their work is great. DarkFox127 also deserves a mention for his exceptionally instructive tutorials).

- PERMISSIONS -

Please contact me if you wish to upload this one elsewhere, create a translation, include any of the content in a different mod, or anything else along those lines.

- OTHER -

Feedback is welcome, particularly relating to any bugs or faults you might encounter. Be sure to check out my other mod as well,
Heartwood Tower.

- UPDATE HISTORY -

1.2: Minor update fixing one or two texture errors, adding a small vegetable garden on the roof of the tower, and altering the initial location of the keys (they are now in a satchel in the dungeon rather than on the troll itself, in order to bypass reported issues with the troll going AWOL).

1.2b - Alternate Version: The same as 1.2, but reducing the number of guards and staff to two apiece in order to free up more beds for followers.

* * * * * *

1.1: Minor update with a few vents added in the interior areas, light smoke effects in the forge and main hall, a chimney at the top of the tower and a hitching post out the front.

1.1b - Alternate Version: A few people have suggested that the keep is too populated, so this version of the mod is for people who think that there are too many NPCs/merchants around the place, or those who particularly want beds for a larger number of followers. This version reduces the number of guards and staff to two apiece, freeing up seven beds for followers (one in the kitchens, two in the great hall and four in the guards' quarters.
