Permissions and credits
Welcome to the official A Lady's Prerogative addon for Skyrim by Brian Joseph Johns.
I released this mod as a sort of Halloween gift to celebrate the Witching hour in the style of A Lady's Prerogative.
The book A Lady's Prerogative can be found from http://talesofthesanctum.blogspot.ca (where the first draft is contained).
The Full Edition can be purchased from Amazon.com at www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0138IVRZ2.

This is basically a simple set of mods that I, the author of the book A Lady's Prerogative I and the soon to be released sequel have created for play in the world of Skyrim based upon the setting of my books of the same name.

A Lady's Prerogative is a book I wrote that is really about a group of Women who become involved in a school of magic and Wytch craft which is used as a front to train candidates who protect humanity from the other dangers that lurk in the multi-planed worlds centered around ours, which is known simply as The Prime while our world is simply known as Aerth. The first book introduces us to three Women, whose mentor is kidnapped during a yearly party they have for each other. They must unite and learn to work together, using their abilities to first find and rescue her.

The order is based around a headquarters which is aptly named: The Sanctum. This base of operations takes on the appearances of an ancient castle mixing the design elements of many cultures from the Prime. The Sanctum is represented by many cultures (and genders) from the Prime making it very similar to the United Nations though it takes a more direct role in some matters related to security. It has a similar system of management and hierarchy where members have voting rights and veto power.

Having been an avid gamer, programmer and musician my whole life, I decided it would be great to see the characters and their abilities inside of a modern gaming engine. Ultimately I chose Skyrim for this due to its tools, the availability of information allowing mods to be easily integrated to the game and its open world nature which invites all sorts of addons. In future games that support similarly easy to use tools allowing players to integrate their own content and expand the worlds are games I might add similar mods to as well.

The mod itself requires no special addons and should work with Skyrim without any dependencies on DLCs or other content.
The Skyrim mod is broken down into several esp files each of which represent an aspect of the world of A Lady's Prerogative.
The first to be released is called the Thaumaturgy mod (ALP_THAUMATURGY.esp) which adds aspects of the weave from several orders of A Lady's Prerogative into Skyrim.

In the first version I've included the spell lore from the Order Of The Night Wytch.

The Order Of The Night Wytch are an order who operate using spells which conceal their presence and give them great tactical advantages by their stealth. They also are capable of summoning powerful creatures from the Shadow Planes to do battle for them. When they are first initiated into the order they learn to summon their first creature from the Shadow Plane. This is called their sentinel familiar and protector. It will be with them for the rest of their life whenever they summon it. The two form a bond and as a result they share their senses with each other.

The first spells available in the Thaumaturgy mod are as follows:

Order Of The Night Wytch

Shadow Cat Summoning
Shadow cats are one of the large predatory creatures from the shadow plane. They live for close to eight hundred years of time (Aerth time). They are born at about the size of an adult lion or tiger and grow to sizes making them much larger than even elephants of the Prime. They possess a special organ which allows them to smell or taste from the air the intent of any creature when close enough. They are selective hunters and only kill those with hostile or harmful intent though they are very protective of their family and especially so of their young. When acting as a sentinel familiar for a Wytch they are very protective and use their unique sensory ability to protect their Wytch friend. This spell is used in A Lady's Prerogative I and plays very prominently into the events of A Lady's Prerogative II: Wounded Aerth.

Conjuration

Summon Shadow Kitten: Summons a Shadow Kitten from the Shadow Plane for ten minutes of game time. Shadow kittens are the smallest of the Shadow cats making them useful inside of dungeons or tight spaces.
Summon Shadow Cat Adolescent: Summons a Shadow teen from the Shadow Plane for ten minutes of game time. Shadow cat teens are a bit larger than Shadow kitten but small enough to operate in some tight spaces and dungeons. They are also a bit tougher than Shadow kittens.
Summon Shadow Cat Adult: Summons a mature Shadow Cat from the Shadow Plane for ten minutes of game time. Shadow cat adults are large (larger than a horse) and very deadly. They are best used out of doors though in larger caverns of some dungeons they can prove to be useful.
Summon Shadow Cat Elder: Summons a mature Shadow Cat from the Shadow Plane for ten minutes of game time. Shadow cat elders are the largest of their kind. They are best for open spaces and combat against powerful foes. They are vicious fighters and very dangerous to anyone or anything that attacks their Wytch friend.

Fog Of Awareness: Casts a spell which creates a volume of fog which reduces the visibility of all creatures within except the caster and their sentinel familiar. Inside of this fog both the caster and their sentinel familiar are omniscient. They can see every creature that moves within the fog giving them complete tactical advantage. The character while in the fog remains nearly invisible until they attack at which point they lose their concealment bonus though they still have a sneaking bonus. This spell plays prominently in A Lady's Prerogative II: Wounded Aerth.

Destruction

Elemental Fury: Casts a stream of electricity, cold and fire at a target making it a versatile attack for taking down foes whose resistances a Wytch is unsure of. This spell is commonly used by many of the orders though it is the work horse attack spell for higher level Night Wytches. It is used in A Lady's Prerogative and frequently throughout A Lady's Prerogative II: Wounded Aerth.

Illusion

Fright: This spell creates a channeling link between the caster and the target. The target is subjected to terrifying experiences which channels the magicka from the target to the Wytch while the target flees in terror. This spell is not seen in either book but will be present in the third.

Alteration

Held In Place: This spell immediately freezes the target to a completely unmoving state for thirty seconds knocking them over and making them vulnerable to attack. They are still aware of their surroundings and can hear and see everything as they while moving. This spell shows up in A Lady's Prerogative briefly.

Future updates will include spells from the Order Of The Aerth Mother (a nature based order whose spells allow them to interact with nature much like druidism) and the Order Of Aetherial Artistry which is a form of magic founded around artistry. There will also be a follower addon to allow you to take any (or all) of the characters from A Lady's Prerogative as followers to help you in your quests in Skyrim.

My books were inspired by many great authors whom influenced me while growing up. I highly recommend reading books like The Stand or The Long Walk by Stephen King, Weave World by Clive Barker or even Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. Writers such as Clive Barker and George R. R. Martin have been part of the generations of authors seeing their works deliver their presence into these new mediums. More and more in video games we are seeing the novel and cinematic experience making its way into the game design art making it a great medium for story telling for its interactive nature. People will always love to see movies and read though in the future we might do all of those things from inside a virtual interactive world which all started from gaming engines by innovators like id Software, Epic Megagames, Microprose, SSI and Bethesda. Its great to see a theatrical performer give life to a character in the art of game design through voice or motion work too.

Thank you to Steam and the Skyrim Nexus at http://www.nexusmods.com.

Enjoy!
