    F.A.Q.

Q: What is the status of Hvergelmir's Shield Retexture - HSR
A: I intend to merge HSR back into HAR (just like the good old days) - to be honest, I see no positive purpose of keeping the two separated when they're basically doing the same thing and shields are generally part of armor anyway. Those who is going to have a problem with this, possibly because you're using other texture replacer mods - not my problem...

Close to 2018, and i can say this is the best vanilla Shield's re-texturing mod ever. Pure HQ shields and amazing details. I'm using it right now (with my personal Yggdrasil themed variant) at SSE (choose Loose files), without a single problem. You should port it into SSE section.

    Thanks Hvergelmer+End.

    Hello Hvergelmir/Ithot,

    I discovered the following:
ddsopt corrupts certain textures (esp. terrain textures) by deleting all of the information the file possessed and thus shrinking the file size to 132 bytes. I've found one 132 bytes .dds file in your archive you uploaded as well. It is textures/armor/iron/shield_em.dds
Probably in both archives, since you stated that you've optimized all your textures previous to uploading them to the nexus. We (STEP) cannot say for sure why the texture corruption doesn't get noticed in game, but apparently the game skips those textures automatically or replaces them with it's own (vanilla unoptimized) assets.
If you could upload the unoptimized version of textures/armor/iron/shield_em.dds in a hotfix, and maybe see whether it makes a visual difference with it installed or not, we'ld be very eager to hear of your results.

    Sincerely,
    torminater and the STEP crew

There is a simple explanation for that. Currently textures/armor/iron/shield_em.dds is just a black colored placeholder file kept in the download to rid the Iron Shield of the specular effect applied to the vanilla shield (inconsistent with the rest of the iron armor set that has no specular map), to make everything match better and look more realistic. The size of the file is purposely kept as small as possible.

The upcoming Iron Armor set version will feature a proper specular map for the iron armor, though for those who were concerned about that.

It is not recommended to use the vanilla specular map (for whatever reason one might want to do that) in this case as it doesn't suit the my version of the shield textures.

@emmietiie: he intends to, eventually, do all armors, shields and weapons in the game. It may take some time for him to complete, as he works at his own pace, which takes into account his real life stuff. And sometimes he simply needs a break. He's currently working on redoing the things he previously released, with a new, better method.

These look amazing. I hope you're doing the dwarven shield too.

I'm aware there's at least one retexture on nexus already, but some of the decorations on that one were kinda distracting.

"I was the first Skyrim armor retexturer and I have no intention to stop."

Good! You should be awarded for your enthusiasm and a desire of not stopping what you started.

Does anyone know a fix for the Light Imperial Shield? (When equiped, it's largely missplaced on the character) - and does this mod include a retexture of it?
