Thank you for making this tutorial! This was the only relevant and usable source of information when i searhed for "skyrim how to make mcm".
I have a question:
I tried to do your tutorial step-by-step, but I can't get through something.
At the part "5. Making your menu show up in game" in the tutorial, when a script needs to be added to the quest and you instruct the reader to search for the script "MCMTestFinal". My CK can't find this script. I paste in it's name and it's not on the list. I'm doing this with SSE and in my game's Data folder there are two folders containing .psc files: \Data\Source\Scripts\ \Data\Scripts\Source\
No matter where I copy MCMTestFinal.psc, the CK can't find it. I even copied it into the directories containing the compiled scripts. I tried to make an empty mod in Mod Orgranizer 2 and make the same directory structure in it as it is in my Data folder and I copied the script into that...so no matter what I do, my CK can't find the script. And if I just paste it's name and click OK it says "script already exists".
Would you be so kind as to explain what to do ? Best would be if it involved MO2, because that is what I normally use for modding and I'm familiar with it and I run CK through it.
No problem, glad you're finding it helpful! Before the CK can find the script, you have to compile it. The CK won't find .psc files, only .pex files found in Data/Scripts. For compiling, I prefer to use Skyrim Script Compilier Pro Final: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31700/
Place the .psc file in Data\Scripts\Source, then open it with the program and then compile it. It should make a .pex file in Data/Scripts. If Script Compilier Pro can't find the .psc file, try also placing it in Data\Source\Scripts. Hope that helps!
you got me through making this mcm, don't think I could have done this without this tutorial... well I probably would have figured it out after a week of pulling my hair out
I wish I could understand of English. Google translator. he translated the guide, but I did not understand the s#*! anyway. translate google s#*! s#*! shiiiiiit google !! XD
Thanks for your tutorial, I always used the Grimmi mod only to rename the mod names in the MCM. Now I know how to change them myself permanently with the CK. Thank you very much.
Thanks. I'm giving it a read now. The last time I attempted to make my own MCM was in FNV, and the tutorial was confusing as heck. I'm glad I googled for Skyrim. This tutorial looks very informative and I think I'll finally be able to get my project done.
Thank You very much for making this tutorial. It was very easy to follow and undoubtedly saved me a lot of time and effort learning how to make an MCM.
