    Sticky
    State of the mod:

This mod has numerous issues. Obviously it's fully playable in that you can go from beginning to end, but there are issues. Numerous NPCs don't work as they should, and there are issues with activators and triggers throughout. LOD has a persistent missing texture issue (this one can be solved by anyone pretty easily just by running TES5lodgen or dyndolod, to be fair).

I am not in a position, nor am i capable of fixing these issues by myself. I do not have the skillset, nor the time to learn.

That being said, if anyone with experience with actors, spells, traps, activators, or general scripting would like to offer to help, i would be willing to work with them to get this mod from being simply playable to being a polished dungeon mod.

This is an open invitation, so please send me a message if you would like to offer to help.

For users, this means that i will not be fixing any bugs nor making any changes or improvements to the mod unless i do get that help. Thank you for your understanding.

Despite many issues this mod has it is quite unique and I really like Soul Cairn related mods, I'd love to try fixing things were I can once I get a better PC, however many things would need to be changed from ground up to rely on totally different mechanics, i.e. the barriers would need to be removed by killing an enemy instead of placing an orb(some would need to be removed completely, for example the mammoth ones, the mammoth should be placed in the corridor before the barrier and unlock the barrier upon death because otherwise he dies to cloak damage before you even notice there is a boss). Anyways endorsed, definitely a nice idea behind this mod, I wished there were more dungeon mods with those aesthetics.

For those of you wondering about the entrance.
All you need to do is make a new door in Soul Cairn
to connect to this mod if you dont want the entrance outside.

Good hardcore dungeon for high level characters. A bit glitchy, but worth it.
This needs to be ported to SSE so more can enjoy it (I played it on SSE using cathedral asset optimiser. very easy to do and worked fine).
    Endorsed!

Having played through this I can safely say this while not perfect, is one of the best dungeon mods out there. Very fun to play through. There were some drawbacks, but they weren't so bad that I wouldn't consider doing it all over again. Which brings me to the the only truely bad part about this dungeon. To do it again you have to make a new save or load an old one, otherwise you can't go back. Which is kinda sad really it's a fun dungeon I woulda loved if it reset every so often I wouldn't even ask for an explination as to why, just knowing I could do it again would be awesome.

So despite this being an older mod by now, ya never know when someone new might come across this. So if you're taking the time to read this here's some tips pros and cons you should know.

Pros. Very good design interesting location and crafting of the dungeon.

Unique enemies that are challanging even on novice difficulty. (Seriously be prepared. These guys will kill you easy if you're not.)

The mechanics usually work well and give interesting boss fights and puzzles.

Epic reward for clearing it very useful if you like conjuration.

    Cons. A bit long.

Enemies can be overwhelmingly difficult at the worst of times.

f*#@ THE MAMMOTH! No seriously that is the one thing I hate about this dungeon, it can go crawl in a hole and DIE! It WILL stun lock you if you're not careful to the point you can not do ANYTHING PERIOD! Your only hope is to reload or enter god mode if this happens. If you can beat it without that then my hats off to you good sir or madam, cause you have done what I could not.

SAVE OFTEN AND HAVE MULTIPLE SAVES! While things usually work ya never know when skyrim's glitchyness will ROYALLY screw you over. Such as key items falling into the abyss, required bosses not spawning. Etc. They will eventually work, just be prepared as this can get frustrating.

Percision platforming in a game not built for it. ... Ugh. My character has trouble jumping WITHOUT mods. Let alone with. And there's one jump I swear is impossible to make. Trust me no one will blame you for TCLing this one.

But don't let those con's stop you from enjoying this dungeon they can be troublesome, but if you take your time and have patience it CAN be done. So give it a try and have some fun.

Oh and sadly there's no story to speak of, but it's fun to use your imagination about why it's there. Create your own little story. I did and it only improved the experience.

Wow mega late on this reply but yeah it still remains one of my favorite dungeons today. Every time I start a new game I make it a point to visit there eventually.

Wow I finished it, and it was not easy...

    1) weird part, the entrance is in the real world, but it's really for some place in the soul cairn, I would have expected the entrance to be in the soul cairn rather than the real world... and there is no map marker, follow the instructions exactly, not hard to find but still surprising.

    2) for the places where you are supposed to play mario in skyrim and like me you don't like that, use a mod to fly, like real flying which is excellent ! There is still a part which is hard even when flying, the "stair" which climbs very high in the final part of this platform thing, here just forget about the stair, fly very high until you notice the exit, land there, you are done.

notice just after that : you meet a lot of flying skulls like the ones from doom... !

    3) the mammoth really has issues, the 1st time it killed me by surprise, as another player here said, save often ! The 2nd time, it got stuck in a wall for I don't know which reason ! I finally got it from there using the console (select it, and then use placeatme), and then ran away to avoid being crushed, then used some summons to keep it away while using the bow (you just get a super powerful bow just before that, which comes handy at this place).

    4) the final place feels very unfair when you first reach it, you are literally overwhelmed by enemies and the dragon can summon them at will ! Of course there is a trick, it's not easy, but don't give up, you have to run first ! :) (I won't give the solution there).

I had no issue with the activators afaik, and didn't notice any texture issue, I use dyndolod but didn't generate the lods after installing this mod...
There are places where the animation becomes choppy though, and I have a very recent setup which never gets choppy anywhere in skyrim normally (in the area of the mammoth but before it, with all the doom like skulls everywhere, that's probably the worst place for that).
All in all I agree, the design is original and interesting, but it's quite long (the stairs with all these spiders... ! by the way if you use andromeda, try to take the lady sign before going here, it's very handy against these spiders !!!!).
I did that just after exiting from the real soul cairn, I didn't expect this tower to be that long... !
Not perfect, but interesting indeed ! :)

EDIT : ah didn't notice that the enchantment on the weapons from there doesn't work as intended, there is no shock damage apparently (at least you don't see it). And they can't be improved at the forge, but they are already very powerful...

EDIT 2 : for the weapon enchantment it can be easily fixed using tes5edit, it's just that no enchantment amount was given to the weapon. Click with the right button on the field, select Add. Then edit the 0 and put something like 1000 (that is the amount for auriel bow), and it works ! Errr after testing, 1000 is too weak, dawnbreaker has 5000 here, I'd say 4000 is a minimum the enchantment here is not cheap.

Does anyone know the item id for the orbs that the bone lords drop? I killed one of the lords and he disappeared into the abyss before I could get the last orb so now I'm stuck. I think he fell through the floor a bit but I can't even toggle the clipping to find out. Really any ideas of how to get out of here would be awesome.

    Just finished it up.

    Pros
    -Very well done.
-It all seemed to work like it was supposed to.
-Fit into Skyrim very nicely. Didn't seem out of place.
    -Fun to play through.
    -Interesting concept with the orbs.
-I really liked the final battle.
-It handled falling very nicely, rather than flat out killing the player and making them reload (as Molag Bal's Inferno did, which I hated and is why I mention it).
-The mini-boss battle with the weird floor was really cool. Cool room, cool boss, everything.

    Cons
-Some sections were a bit too monotonous.
-Some things were rather unclear. Specifically, after the final battle.
-There didn't seem to be any story, which I really would have appreciated. Some /reason/ to be there murdering everything.

All in all, a very nice experience. The monotony was the biggest drawback in my opinion, but it's all very well done and it'll definitely be staying in my load order. Thank you.
