Hello fellow players of Skyrim!

I present to you a mod that aims to significantly boost the effectiveness of vanilla elemental atronachs in battle.

In the past, both Kizude and grasscid created mods which points to the same goal. But I feel that their mods are somewhat lacking.
So with their permission, I combined their mods, removed what I think are unnecessary, and expanded their work by adding my own ideas.

Just to name a few features: Flame Thralls that can cast Incinerate, Frost Thralls that can slow enemies' attack speed, and Storm Thralls that can shoot explosive lightning balls.

This is my take on how to make atronachs more powerful yet balanced. Enjoy!

Note: Only PC-summonable elemental atronachs from vanilla skyrim are affected by this mod.



All Elemental Variants

  • Attribute stats reworked for each variant
  • Atronach class skill point distribution reworked for each element

All Flame Variants

  • Movement speed increased from 100 to 200
  • Aimed spells can now be cast from either hand
  • Death fire explosion damage increased from 10 to 60
  • Melee attacks with 1.5 times damage than normal are flagged as power attacks

Flame Atronach

  • Firebolt damage increased from 20 to 25
  • Does not run away when health is low

Potent Flame Atronach

  • Firebolt damage increased 1.5 times (37.5)
  • Melee attack physical damage increased 1.5 times
  • Melee attack fire damage increased 1.5 times (15 on normal attacks, 22.5 on power attacks)
  • Magic resistance increased from 0% to 34%
  • Incoming physical damage decreased to 66%

Flame Thrall

  • Flames removed from spell list
  • Firebolt replaced with Hellfire Blast; Inflicts 60 fire damage with additional 3-second burning damage; Visuals and audio similar to Incinerate
  • Fire damage from melee attack replaced with Blazing Swipe; Inflicts 25 fire damage on normal attacks or 30 on power attacks with additional 1-second burning damage; Ignores magic or fire resistances
  • Defensive perk added; 20% chance to nullify incoming physical damage; Works similarly to Deft Movement perk
  • Summon spell name changed to "Conjure Flame Thrall"

Potent Flame Thrall

  • Hellfire Blast damage increased 1.5 times (90)
  • Additional effect for Hellfire Blast added; Fire resistance is decreased by 50%; Effect stacks on consecutive hits up to 100%; Lasts 10 seconds
  • Blazing Swipe damage increased 1.5 times (37.5 on normal attacks, 45 on power attacks)
  • Blazing Swipe does not ignore resistances anymore but secondary effect is added; Fire resistance is decreased by 50%; Effect stacks on consecutive hits up to 100%; Lasts 5 seconds
  • Melee attack physical damage increased 1.5 times
  • Magic resistance increased from 0% to 34%
  • Incoming physical damage decreased to 66%
  • Defensive perk improved; Chance to nullify incoming physical damage increased from 20% to 30%
  • Magma Body ability added; Frost resistance increased from -33% to 50%
  • Searing Heat ability added; All enemies within 50 feet of thrall receive 20 fire damage per second; Health regeneration is also decreased by 50%
  • Soothing Flame ability added; All allies within 50 feet of thrall are healed 20 points per second; Activates only if Thrall's health is at 20% or below




All Frost Variants

  • Movement speed decreased from 100 to 75
  • Frost Cloak damage increased from 5 to 10 per second
  • Area attack ignores line of sight

Frost Atronach

  • Frost damage added to melee attacks (15 on normal attacks, 20 on power attacks)
  • Area attack reach increased from 7 to 15 feet

Potent Frost Atronach

  • Melee attack and area attack physical damage increased 1.5 times
  • Melee attack frost damage increased 1.5 times (22.5 on normal attacks, 30 on power attacks)
  • Area attack frost damage increased 1.5 times (37.5)
  • Area attack reach increased from 7 to 15 feet
  • Magic resistance increased from 0% to 34%
  • Incoming physical damage decreased to 66%

Frost Thrall

  • Frost damage from melee attack replaced with Glacial Strike; Inflicts 25 frost damage on normal attacks or 30 on power attacks; Ignores magic or frost resistances
  • Frost damage from area attack replaced with Arctic Tremor; Inflicts 40 frost damage to and staggers each enemy within attack's reach; Ignores magic or frost resistances
  • Area attack reach increased from 7 to 25 feet
  • Defensive perk added; 20% of physical damage taken from melee attacks is reflected back; Does not reduce taken damage; Works similarly to Reflect Blows perk
  • Summon spell name changed to "Conjure Frost Thrall"

Potent Frost Thrall

  • Glacial Strike damage increased 1.5 times (37.5 on normal attacks, 45 on power attacks)
  • Additional effect for Glacial Strike added; Weapon attack speed is decreased by 50%; Effect works even on enemies with increased attack speed (e.g. with Dual Flurry perk); Lasts 5 seconds
  • Arctic Tremor damage increased 1.5 times (60)
  • Additional effect for Arctic Tremor added; Each enemy within attack's reach have their weapon attack speed decreased by 50%; Effect works even on enemies with increased attack speed (e.g. with Dual Flurry perk); Lasts 10 seconds
  • Area attack reach increased from 7 to 25 feet
  • Melee attack and area attack physical damage increased 1.5 times
  • Magic resistance increased from 0% to 34%
  • Incoming physical damage decreased to 66%
  • Defensive perk improved; Percentage of reflected physical damage from melee attacks increased from 20% to 30%
  • Ice Armor ability added; Fire resistance increased from -33% to 50%
  • Sheer Cold ability added; All enemies within 50 feet of thrall receive 50% movement speed reduction; Stamina regeneration is also decreased by 50%
  • Absolute Zero ability added; All enemies within 50 feet of thrall have 5% continuous chance of 3-second paralysis; Activates only if Thrall's health is at 20% or below




All Storm Variants

  • Lightning Bolt removed from spell list
  • Area attack ignores line of sight
  • Lightning Cloak damage decreased from 12 to 10 per second
  • Base Destruction skill increased by 10
  • Does not run away when health is low

Storm Atronach

  • Chain Lightning damage increased from 30 to 40 and spell name changed from "Lightning Bolt" to "Chain Lightning"
  • Melee power attack shock damage increased from 20 to 25
  • Area attack shock damage increased from 20 to 30

Potent Storm Atronach

  • Stronger version of Chain Lightning (from Storm Thrall) added to spell list
  • Stronger version of Chain Lightning base cost decreased from 80 to 60 and spell name changed from "Lightning Bolt" to "Chain Lightning"; Damage remains 60
  • Melee attack and area attack physical damage increased 1.5 times
  • Melee attack shock damage increased 1.5 times (30 on normal attacks, 37.5 on power attacks)
  • Area attack shock damage increased 1.5 times (45)
  • Magic resistance increased from 0% to 34%
  • Incoming physical damage decreased to 66%

Storm Thrall

  • Stronger version of Chain Lightning removed from spell list
  • Ball Lightning added to spell list; Inflicts 60 shock damage within 25-foot radius; Effect similar to Fireball and audio similar to Thunderbolt
  • Shock damage from melee attack replaced with Volt Assault; Inflicts 25 shock damage on normal attacks or 30 on power attacks; Ignores magic or shock resistances
  • Shock damage from area attack replaced with Ionic Pulse; Inflicts 40 shock damage to each enemy within attack's reach; Ignores magic or shock resistances
  • Area attack reach increased from 25 to 50 feet
  • Defensive perk added; 20% chance to negate incoming hostile spells and be absorbed into magicka; Works similarly to Atronach perk
  • Summon spell name changed to "Conjure Storm Thrall"

Potent Storm Thrall

  • Ball Lightning damage increased 1.5 times (90)
  • Additional effect for Ball Lightning added; Power of spells from 5 major schools of magic are decreased by 50%; Lasts 10 seconds
  • Volt Assault damage increased 1.5 times (37.5 on normal attacks, 45 on power attacks)
  • Additional effect for Volt Assault added; Physical attack damage is decreased by 50%; Lasts 5 seconds
  • Ionic Pulse damage increased 1.5 times (60)
  • Additional effect for Ionic Pulse added; Each enemy within attack's reach have their physical attack damage decreased by 50%; Lasts 10 seconds
  • Area attack reach increased from 25 to 50 feet
  • Melee attack and area attack physical damage increased 1.5 times
  • Magic resistance increased from 0% to 34%
  • Incoming physical damage decreased to 66%
  • Defensive perk improved; Chance to negate incoming hostile spells increased from 20% to 30%
  • Neural Field ability added; All enemies up to level 25 and within 50 feet of thrall are frenzied; Magicka regeneration is also decreased by 50%
  • Electromagnetism ability added; Absorbs 10 magicka per second from all enemies within 50 feet of thrall; If their magicka is empty, absorbs 5 health per second instead; Activates only if Thrall's health is at 20% or below




It is recommend to use Nexus Mod Manager for installing this mod. Click "DOWNLOAD WITH MANAGER" and install.

For manual installation, place the Data folder in Skyrim folder (usually in C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim) and merge.
Manual installation might not be viable in the future as I am planning to create a FOMOD installer for this mod.



Here's a list of possible improvements I'd like to implement in the future:

  • Thralls with different textures than atronachs; My current skills and knowledge prevent me from creating game textures. So I'm planning to ask other mod creators if they could let me use theirs. If unsuccessful, I can try learning how to create them. Anyone willing to help me/contribute their textures, please let me know.
  • Ability aura visuals; I think it's be better if Potent Thralls have some sort of graphic indication of their cloak-esque abilities (Searing Heat, Sheer Cold, Neural Field, etc.) An image space, maybe? Again, I have no idea how to tackle this. Any help would be much appreciated.
  • Magnitude in spell description; In magic effect records of Potent Thralls' spells, I explicitly put the number of their damage instead of the usual <mag>. If I put <mag>, the game would display the value times 1.5. I think what's causing this is the second effect. Nevertheless, I have yet to find a solution for this.
  • FOMOD installer; As mentioned above, I'm planning to create a FOMOD installer so users can select which features they want. I may also include compatibility patches for other mods.
  • Compatibility patches; If you think any of your mods are incompatible with mine, please let me know and I might create a patch for them.
