UPDATE: Added a new SparrowDome Edition that has a revised mesh included, so the dome of the oven now has it's own separate texture. This helps alleviate some of the blurriness that afflicted the regular version. It does come with some performance cost, however, so it's recommend for people with 2GB or more of VRAM. Thanks to SparrowPrince for revising the mesh to allow for this version.
Cheers to all, Gamwich
I forgot to mention it, but the gallery is open for people to add their screenshots. It's always nice to see how my textures look in different lighting conditions and ENBs. Feel free to add your pics.
Great textures, as usual, but once again they highlight how simple the mesh actually is. With an improved and more detailed mesh this would be simply awesome.
It's an old game..... You could say that about nearly everything. Wait until the remaster comes out, maybe they will have improved some of the meshes, not just the textures.
But it's not that old. PCs at the time were capable of displaying much more complex meshes. As most of its graphical and technical shortcomings, this was due to the fact that it had to run on consoles that were five to six years old when it was released.
Unfortunately, judging by the screenshots that are available already from the SE, there will be no mesh improvements and it is widely believed that the textures will be mostly identical to the High-Res DLC textures. After all, the most important and interesting thing about the SE is the improved engine with DirectX11 and 64bit support, which will hopefully help performance and stability with highly modded installations.
Anyway, this mod is basically a prime example of why I believe that high-res textures require detailed meshes as well to really work, because the better a texture is, the more the shortcomings of the meshes gets apparent. This is hardly your fault, of course. It is also a very common problem with Morrowind texture mods.
It's worse for the creatures in the game. You could make the most beautiful bear texture in the world, but it wouldn't matter, because the mesh will still make it look like all the others. I just make textures though, so someone else will have to fix those shortcomings.
I could give it a try some time, but it might take a while because actually I haven't played Skyrim much yet, as I have still been occupied with other games.
Although this particular mesh should not take too long to make better. You could upload it together with your textures here, if you like, once I'm done with it. I don't have much experience with Skyrim meshes, though.
SMIM already takes care of many things, fortunately.
Well, I was talking about the oven. Creatures are a bit more complicated, I'd imagine. I have some experience with Morrowind creature meshes, but none with Skyrim ones.
Gamwich, Thank you again for a beautiful mod! You've brightened up my Skyrim world tremendously and for me, the blessings are twofold.
I've also been sneaking texture and animation mods onto my daughter's machine which drives her nuts. She'll say, "This is different! Don't you see it?" Of course I say no then reshuffle when she's not looking. It's payback for all the pranks she's pulled on me in real life.
