    This may not be lore friendly or whatever, but I don't give a hoot! I'm using this in the little restaurant I've been working on. It looks snazzy as heck, and haters can go suck on a lemon!

    Would you be able to make it craftable so we can add one to our houses?

      I"m sure it could be done, you would just add it as a new clutter object in the CK and then make a crafting recipe for it. You wouldn't be able to use it as a container, it would just be a decorative piece, unless you did some scripting to make it like a bag of holding that you could carry but I'm not familiar with how to script that as I haven't done it before.

      If you wanted it in one of the vanilla homes then you could just open this mod in the CK and drag and drop it into the render window in the cell where you wanted it. If you haven't used the Creation Kit it is a free download from the tools section on steam and it's something you might enjoy messing around with, and placing an object in the render window is entry level modding, it's something anyone can do with very little learning involved.

      But for me you need to understand that this isn't an on going project that I'm going to develop further. I just wanted to get the model out there so other people could make use of it. I made that model in April 2011, so pre-Skyrim over 4 years ago. It's been sitting in my Oblivion data folder all this time unused and unseen by the world and it seemed like such a waste. I made it for a mod I was doing for Oblivion but then for various reasons I decided not to release that mod, which was a shame because it had a lot of custom objects like this.

      But now that it is out there it gives other modders a chance to consider the possibilities and maybe someone will do something interesting with it.

      Nope, that’s not me. Similar looking cash register but not mine. That one looks more detailed and higher quality work. The person who made that, going by what I see, is a lot more into modeling than I am.

    I love it and I REALLY love the statement "Our community will be what we make it". That statement is never more true than when referring to an online community. I love your attitude! I'm endorsing and when/if I ever get around to making a mod, I will definitely find a way to use this in it.

    It is not so lore-friendly, but it's so pretty * v* got to think it will be really cool to see dwemer-esque/steampunk-ish stuff more often on Skyrim. This will look cool with those stuff.

      I agree! Tempted to use it, but my modlist is already full even with a lot of plugins merged. =(

      I will download it to endorse it later and also so I can use it in case I decrease my modlist.

      Maybe I should have called it "Ancient Dwemer Cash Register". These old machines were not electronic in any way, it was all cogs and gears so Dwemer could have built something like this. If you equate the Dwemer with the LOR Dwarfs who seemed to be obsessed with counting their gold, then a cash register might not be too far fetched.

      LOL I didn't intend to emphasize on how this mod could not be lore-friendly. I was actually thinking it would be less looking out-of-place if there were more dwemer-esque gears around Skyrim. Cash register as a dwemer invention could very well found around Skyrim but at the same time cash register in real-life was invented in 19th century. Considering how Skyrim appears to be based on medieval time and such cash register looked kinda out-of-place at a first glance. But it's fantasy with magic and dwemer stuff, so I guess anything can happen.

      I was just thinking out loud. I liked what you said and the idea about more more steampunk. Maybe I could try my hand at doing some steampunk. You got me thinking and that's always a good thing - it clears out the cobwebs between my ears.

      In the real world antique cash registers are all mechanical registers too.Adding motors and later electronic registers were later developments so don't assume that cash registers, calculators, typewriters, One armed Bandits and such actually require the use of electric power. The originals of all those were mechanically driven and if the keypress power wasn't enough either a spring windup or simple manual lever was used to provide the "finishing" power.

      It is not unreasonable to assume that a skilled smith living near Dwemer ruins would not have been able to learn enough about gearing to create such a device.

      @RGMage2
      I should have made it clear, sorry. I was talking to GendunDrup and DubbaD because they seemed to be annoyed that I said this mod being not lore-friendly haha I wasn't complaining really. I really think this cash register looks beautiful. It's just shame there aren't many victorian or steampunk-ish stuff that can go well with this one even though dwemer devices/designs are very steakpunk-ish.

      @WaxenFigure
      Yeah, I know that cash register doesn't necessarily require electricity. But it's true that it was invented first in 19th century, so it seemed out-of-place in Skyrim that appears to be based on medieval setting. It would look more natural if it is placed in Markarth with dwemer devices around though. Again, I'm not really complaining. The design of this cash register is simply beautiful. I'm just a big fan of steampunk and victorian era, so I just want to see more fancy devices with cogs and gears incorporated in Skyrim. Compared to this cash register, vanila dwemer devices seem...some what crude.

    I'm going to be away from here for the rest of the day. I'm going to upload this to steam and then I need to spend the rest of the day doing my taxes, as the tax deadline here as at the end of the month and this is the last weekend so it's got to be done.

    Are they lockable? Wondering because that would be cool immersion for thieves to have to pick the lock to swipe money.

      They could be made lockable in the CK, or even require a key that you had to pickpocket, they work just like any other container. In this version I just wanted to keep it simple but maybe if another modder uses it they could do something like that.

      Also in the bsa archive there are two nifs that aren't used. One is the cash register without the tray, and the other one is just the tray on it's own. So you could set it up with an open tray or have the tray be open or closed with a script.

    This actually looks a lot like the cash register my grandfather had in his barber shop. The keys are accurate as to the amounts, The ornate decoration is very similar. Good job.

    BTW. He never used it to ring up actual amounts because the maximum it could total was less than the cheapest haircut. He just pressed any key at random to open it. One feature you don't see in newer registers is it had slots for .50 and $1 coins, and only 3 bill slots in the drawer.

      Thanks for the authentication. I'm wondering, with all the people being banned at the workshop, are Nexus moderators moonlighting over there for money?
