Version 2.0 LE now requires all the DLC. Removed perk tree edits. Perks are now learned from reading the cookbooks. These books are generated from the random book leveled lists. New game recommended to properly refresh these lists. Otherwise you would have to wait until they respawn.
iNeed patch will be available soon.
CACO patch is in the works.
SSE and Xbox One version coming soon.
Campfire has a resource for creating new skills and skill trees. The plan is to move towards a Cooking Skill Tree created with Campfire. This is a long term goal which will take some time to learn how Campfire's Skill API functions.
Getting the first book seems the first problem. Embershard mine, none, Meeko's shack, none. I checked both places with TES5Edit, the objects are there, but in game, nothing, and no mod is conflicting with yours. Idk, what is the problem.
Edit: Didn't found the book, added by console, got no message box, no perks. Edit 2: Okay, just gaved up on this mod, doesn't seems to work as intended.
I'm having some sort of trouble learning new recipes. I got the first book (twice, thanks to Lydia) but reading through it doesn't do anything. All I can cook is Boar and Dragon Meat. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail.
I'm looking into this now. Also had a similar comment on the SSE page. I think I may know what happened. A fix is being worked on now and will be out as soon as I can get it resolved.
I was Wondering if this was for Special Edition? I also had a request for a feature. In another RPG I play there is a mechanic called disguise content, which allows you to put potions inside of food without diluting them. Would it be possible to do something like this in a later update? It would be awesome to assassinate people with sweet rolls.
Working on version 2.0 of the mod. It should be available for download in about a week or two. The latest version removes the perk tree edits. Perks are now added via the books. All DLC will be required now.
Estimated time of release will be a week or two from now.
Several new foods have been added as well as recipes for a few that were missing.
The only thing the books do that could cause a CTD is increase the Alchemy skill. It runs a quick script to increase the skill. Does the Food Preparation book work? The books are only needed get the recipes to show up in the crafting menu if using the NO PERKS version. They actually don't need to be read except to see the recipes for immersion.Do you have any mods that change the font for books. I don't think that could be it but if the game tries to adjust the font in the books from this mod and fails it could cause the CTD as well.
Hmmm...did I miss something? I'm not seeing the books at Belethor's shop at all. I'm using the DB/Hearthfires NO perks edition. So far I only have the first alchemy perk, if that matters at all. Apologies if this has been asked before, I didn't see it.
Not all the books show up in his inventory at the same time. They're added based on character level. I'll verify it later today to make sure it's working correctly. No one has left a comment about this before.
My character just hit level 10, so maybe it's that? But in any case, so far the only thing I've found in the world pertaining to your mod is seasoning, no books whatsoever.
I think something else is overwrote the Leveled Lists which is causing nothing to show up correctly. Books should appear at levesl 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20. Skyrim Bashed Patch Pictorial Guide shows how to make a Bashed Patch to resolve Leveled List conflicts. Once I have time figure out how to do it, the books will eventually add the Perks manually with no need for the books to be in the inventory.
Nevermind, that's too much work for a simple cooking mod- I was hoping I could access the recipes with them just being there, like I can with Cooking Expanded. I just want something simple and easy. When and if you update it I will download it again. Thanks for your willingness to help though. I love adding new recipes to the game, especially when they have new textures.
Thanks for trying it out anyway and for the feedback. I might consider a version that is just the recipes and ingredients without the need for Perks or Books. Now that I'm finally working again finding the time to be able to work on the mod is the issue.
I don't have the time right now unfortunately but I'll try to look into it as soon as I can. Sorry for the delay in getting a no books no perks version released. Work has eaten into my free time.

I'd have to see about that assassinate mechanic. Maybe in v3.
