Changelogs
Version 1.3
Requires all DLC: Dawnguard, Dragonborn, Hearthfire. Added optional auto-sorter for storing Smithing, Alchemy, Raw Food, filled Grand/Black Soul Gems, non-quest Books. Sorter is the cube on the night stand. Adjusted lighting to help the vanilla night milk-drinkers with sensitive eyes. This is an optional update. There are not issues with the older versions. So if you don't want the new features or don't have the DLC (why just why?) then don't upgrade. If you do upgrade, empty your stuff from the storage first and don't forget the weapon plaque/stand, go to an interior cell somewhere, and save, deactivate, reactivate and play on.
Version 1.2
If you are upgrading follow the instructions in the description for upgrading.
You do not have to upgrade. There is nothing wrong with the prior two versions. This version just adds new features. If you are a RP then don't upgrade until you start a new game because starting in V1.2 the Shack is no longer free. It would be weird to have to buy a shack you have been living in already.
The Shack now costs Septims (Gold). It's base cost is 100 Septims. There is a sign next to the door telling you to purchase the deed from The Riverwood Trader. Since he's a vendor your price will vary based on your barter skill. Once you purchase it, READ the deed to trigger the unlocking of the doors and the removal of the For Sale Sign. If you don't like having to buy it, open the console type HELP "Deed To Shack" and give the deed to yourself. You could also unlock the door in the console and disable the sign but it's safer just to get the deed.
There are now a total of 3 light sources. Each can be toggled on or off. If you use vanilla nights, turn off some lights or better yet turn down the night. Get a mod that darkens your nights*.
The meshes for the lanterns and candles have been changed so I can display lit and unlit versions.
The stove can now "burn" your trash items. In other words if you put something in the stove and press the button at the very bottom of the stove, it will be removed from your save file. It's a great way to rid your save of stuff you don't want. It's more reliable than stuffing it in a dead body and hoping for a reset.
There is a second weapon rack. Those wall weapon rail systems are weird. If the weapon is not vanilla and the author set the mesh up differentl than the vanilla ones the weapon will load at the top and look weird. Nothing I can do about it. It's the weapon mesh that causes it. All the vanilla two-handers I tested worked fine. Drabonbone looks really good in it.
*The game is better when it's dark at night. Candlelight/Magelight/Lanterns/Torches FTW. There are mods that make Candlelight great. You can turn it yellow like a torch, make it last until you toggle it, etc. I use Jaxonz Lights Please which puts Candlelight and Magelight on hotkeys that instacast without equiping the spells. I tweaked the radius, fade and color in my own utility mod but there are a couple of good mods that do the same thing. There are also mods that make torches work great when the nights are dark. The current version of Wearable Lanterns is safe, stable and immersive.http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17416/? Go to the darkside. You won't regret it.
Version 1.1
A Simple Shack Riverwood
Fixed some geometry errors on the shack meshes (frame, walls, roof). Basically the shack was not plumb, level or square. Now even Ron F'n Swanson would be proud of it.
Changed some of the vanilla meshes out for some better ones from modder resources.
Changed the vanilla cooking system for a custom stove.
Embedded a better vanilla fire system in the stove mesh for more Frostfall heat.
Added a small salt shaker next to stove for guess what? If you guessed salt you are a winner. It's labeled "My Salt Shaker". It's not as easy to click cause it close to the wall and the wall has big collision markers.
Added some window boxes with some vanilla plants for harvesting.
Added one weapon plaque above window.
Added some more clutter.
Fixed some height issues on a few items that were a bit floaty.
Tested on an old laptop to make sure the extra clutter did not cause any FPS issues. It does not. I suppose if you have a bunch of 4K textures on a bad computer it might but none of the textures I have are higher than 2K.
Reduced the lighting in the shack a bit for milk-drinkers who like to play in the daylight 24/7. I like my nights cold and black like my soul.
The original version with all it's funky geometry is still available. Just don't invite Ron over. If he takes out his level you will be subject to ridicule.

This is a simple shack located in Riverwood on a jetty near the sawmill. It has a player-owned (that means well-rested) bed and custom storage. There is a cooking station in the corner that also provides Frostfall recognized warmth. Version 1.3 Requires Dawnguard, Dragonborn and Hearthfire. Older versions do not require DLC.
NEXUS EXCLUSIVE. FREE. If you see this mod somewhere else, I did not put it there nor did I give permission to put it there.

Cleaned in TES5EDIT
Notes The natural world nav mesh allows followers to use the furniture. I've seen one go into the shack and use the cooking pot as well. Since it's near a river with some sharp drop-offs followers will slide down the hill from time to time but that's part of the vanilla game. I used collision boxes set to keep followers from walking on the furniture. It seems to work but followers be dumb so your results may vary.
There are three light sources and they can each be toggled on or off. If you use vanilla nights (milk-drinker) you will want to turn off some lights or it will be pretty bright in that shack. I use Pure Weather with dark nights like a true Nord so the three lights are balanced for dark nights.
The "My Ale" container on the front deck does respawn. You get a free 12-pack of Ale (if the Riverwood cell resets). Free as in Ale. All other containers are non-respawing.
It's an outdoor cell. That means it rains inside. It rains inside outdoor cells because rain is just an illusion on the "lens" of the player camera and follows you anywhere you go that's not an interior cell. Turning off that illusion requires interaction with the weather system and that means a version for every possible weather system and that's not something I'm interested in doing. TLDR: Shacks leak. Buy a house.

Eleanora makes the prettiest homes in Skyrim. Try one and you will be amazed. Also they are interior cells and don't leak. You are welcome.
