Hi everyone, just a heads up that I'm no longer working on this plugin. This mod only removes and moves objects, perhaps another willing modder may be willing to continue this effort in their own mod.
Since this was mainly a personal mod to give a performance boost, I only planned to clean up Tropical Skyrim with some object reduction etc. I edited a lot of areas where trees were blocking paths but I don't have the time or patience to find every place and fix these issues. This mod is really just a hotfix and so there is no plan to add support for DLCs or fix compatibilities with other mods as some have requested.
That being said I'm still really grateful for the support that this mod has received, and I'm glad that it's helped a lot of people and allowed them to play with Tropical Skyrim on lower-end PCs! xx
I am sorry, but I saw your post for the first time now.:-( (I am answering this post anyway to inform other users with the same q.) After you dl the mod you can use the NMM to install the mod on your PC. I allways dl my mods manually first and use a mod manager to run the install afterwards. Maybe I am a contol freak :-) (I hope so) Remove unnecessary files like readmes and source-files. Compress and install from "Archive" (in your mod manager). Hope you enjoy Tropical Skyrim :-)
@ mcmanybucks : Copied from the install description:
"NEED to have Tropical Skyrim already installed, and the TSOP .esp must be loaded after the Tropical Skyrim .esp in your mod load order."
I guess Archive Invalidation Invalidated is included in NMM? Other than that use LOOT to organize your load order. It is important that all your mods are loaded in a proper order (not only TSOP).
LOOT is not helpful at all with this mod since it places the main file of Tropical Skyrim after the file of this mod. Just be sure to manually adjust it each time you are running the application.
My old windows 7 computer crapped out and I had to get a new windows 11 computer , when I intalled this on my old system it took around a minute to install . With my new one it didn't even take 2 seconds , and I'm wondering if it's even really installed or not ?
I got it working by manualy installing it , apparintly Using a mod manager just didn't work . Now I can fly without any stutter , where I couldn't even walk slowly without stutter before . If anyone else has a problem , take note , the download with manager option isn't advised .
Looks like LOD structures that shouldn't have been there at all. I will take a look into it but I can't promise any solution. This is absolutely not my field - even if I am fiddling around in the areas :-)
This is caused by TS LOD only :-) They are all around TS but only far away. I guess something happened when Massycraft optimized TS. As I already said - I can't promise anything :-)
Now I have been running around Skyrim for a while but nothing of the LOD textures occured. For your info I run my own Tropical Skyrim II version, which is somewhat cleared inside and around caves and dungeons and roads where it is fit. TS Optimized where placed last by LOOT. I have 40 mods of different sizes installed.
If You want me to investigate further I need to know the area where the images were captured :-)
I believe I see the culprit :-) You have installed both TS.esm and TS.esp I guess the master overruns anything else you're to do in TS :-) Remove the master if there isn't any other reason for using it. Btw, did you get the master from my TS II? Tell me if this works :-) Edit: Don't forget to run LOOT after removing the master! I guess you already have Archive Invalidation... running?
i started removing the tropical files 1 by 1 to see which one was causing the problem and it was somthing in TropicalSkyrimOptimised.esm, when i took it out they all suddenly vanished
Then I don't have any other suggestions - it will only be guesswork which is meaningless at this point. I know other authors ask players to uninstall mod by mod and uncover the culprit, because it is in there somewher between some conflicting mod or whatever. My logic tells me; as long as you load the Optimizer last it should control Soolie's tropical elemnts? I am sorry I was really hoping to find a solution. Could you send me another image from a longer distance so I can get a feeling of the surroundings?
TS Optimiser shouldn't be a Master? Are you running both plugins from the files section? You only need 2.0 If it was a master you couldn't place it lowest in the load order? There is an optional config file included that I installed with the plugin in the Data folder.
i just used the NMM to download and install them, it wasnt till you said about the master file i went into it all an started looking at it and when i used loot it always put ts opt higher than ts itself which is strange
OK. Maybe I found the reason for the goo:-) The ini-file in the config folder uses "LOD" textures to minimize the strain on the PC. I have tried the ini-file just now and the game looks awful!
What you need to do: Reinstall the original ini-file that Optimiser replaced. Only use the TS.esp-file not the .esm Any other mod related to TS must load after TS.esp Any TS patches must load after them again -where LOOT places them within the loadorder is not important I also recommend you to try my Tropical Skyrim II because there is less strain around the Abandoned House (the marshes, Morthal) -again, only use the .esp - there is also an .esm included in the zip
If you delete the ini-file I believe the game will install a new one - I hope this works for you! Last: You must remember this is not an entirely optimised mod anymore - it is something in between :-)
Edit: I am sorry, wrong loading directives. TS first, before the related mods. The patches in the end after the related mods. Sorry :-)
nope they came back lol it im happy with the result ive managed to get skyrim at tho, its not for me to play its for my daughter ty for all your help tho
i know this post is a year old... but if anyone is interested i managed to fix this by editing the alpha from "Skyrim\textures\terrain\tamriel\Objects\tamriel.objects.dds" with photoshop, the alpha controls the transparence of the image so you just have to erase the last tree in the alpha channel and you wont be able to see this ugly tree LOD again (beware to erase the alpha not the actual texture, if you erase only the texture you will see a lot of big white trees in the distance haha)
As a person who plays on a laptop that was middle-of-the-line several years ago, I thank you. Granted, I didn't bother seeing if my computer could run Tropical Skyrim + Tropical Skyrim Enhanced on their own first, but my game has hardly had a performance hit when running this mod alongside them.
Things may change when I plop in the rest of my 200+ mods.
My laptop(6 year old, not modified acer) can run the original mod fine but the problem was the amount of trees on the road which would force me to run through packs of creatures just to get around it, other than that I had no lag.
If anyone plays without grass enabled, because of a performance hit from Tropical Skyrim (not TSOS), check out Grass on Steroids. Followed through with the information on that mod page and set my grass to 1 to test it out. Really amazing, and I noticed a small FPS gain. Going to try 2 and 3 settings as well. All-around though, TSOS and Grass on Steroids are amazing together.
Edit on May 3rd, 2018: Completed my testing. The hardest hit was the swap lands, warned under Tropical Skyrim's page. However, with Grass on Steroids requirements and at 2 fade, it significantly increased my FPS. It really does work well with TSOS!
This is a super late response, but if anyone is still curious nowadays, the answer is: yes-no-yes. You have to assume that there's no objects from TS in places that other DLC mods take you. Ideally, TS is a replacement module, vanilla trees to palm trees with objects duplicated in certain areas. Spawn points of animals will differ, as I don't think the current ones were adjusted or more were added. I'm not sure.

All I see is some undefined goo covering leaves and branches?

The optimized version should come after or below TS?

these were taken in riverwood but the problem trees are all over skyrim like this
