I know that these are tropical fishes. So please don't complain about "not lore friendly".
Use them in interiors or in tropical surroundings. Or invent a Dwemer heating for the aquarium.

Thank you all for your nice comments. Phitt did a great job on this

FYI, you can use Jaxonz Positioner to make copies of the tank, the water, all the fish, and the plants inside, and build your own aquarium in your own home. If you do this, the copied fish tend to swim outside the tank, and the fix for that is to use Jaxonz Positioner to make the tank and water larger to compensate.

@Tamira  You may not want to hear it, but really, how hard would it have been to have histcarp, abecan longfin, salmon etc. from in game?

This is such a beautiful mod!

The only issues I have with it are that its really not too realistic in the sense that the fish arent proper size when scaled with one another such as the Neon Tetra (Neon fish) being so large when Compared to the Freshwater Angelfish. There is also the fact that you have saltwater fish and freshwater fish in the same tank. No mater how you go about that realistically one type will die.

Other than that I must marvel at the detail on the fish and how realistic they look, as well as the beauty and composure of the tank with live plants rocks, sand... I especially love the ring in the bottom of the sand tank!

Please keep working on this! I would love to see more fish and colorations in the future! I would be willing to help work toward that as I am an avid fish keeper/owner/breeder/enthusiast.

Though I have never owned saltwater fish i can help with behaviour text and probably meshes if i am taught. I would love to expand the knowledge of fish in players of the game ^^ I actually have an angelfish right now identical to the in-game one named Al Capone XD

      Thanks for your nice comment.
All the credits for the fish and the basic tank go to Phitt as the creator of the original Oblivion resource. I myself am not able to create meshes (leave alone animated ones ...), therefore don't expect updates.
This is meant to be a modder's resource. The tanks that I included are only for demonstration purposes. It had been addressed before that I made a mistake by putting saltwater and freshwater fishes into the same tank. Sorry for that, I am a fish noob

This is amazing!! One thing though, is there a way to get rid of the 'activate fishtank' showing up?

Sure: Don't give the activator a name and leave the "activate text override" empty.

I love this resource. I'm a big fan of fish tanks/aquariums; so this adds a bit of real life fun to the game.
Also, I came across another Stroti resource on Oblivion Nexus; features a Terrarium w/ a moving scorpion !! Perhaps another project to bring to Skyrim !

Thank you Tamira for all your works! I love them all

      Thanks for your nice comment!

As for the terrarium: Have a look at the permission tab. It is not allowed to convert it to other games. It is not a resource btw. it is listed under collectables.

I've been really enjoying this fish tank as implemented in the great "Ravens Breezehome." Whenever I look really closely at it, though, I'm a little weirded out by the invisible water. When you look down at the top of the tank there is some refraction/distortion as if there's water in there, but when you look in through the sides it's basically air. As you may remember, I'm not the world's leading expert on water shaders, but I keep wondering if it would be possible to turn the four sides of the aquarium into water "surfaces" as well. It would probably require a custom water type in the plugin with zero surface rippling, so it doesn't look like a magic force field, but with refraction and subtle depth fogging it would look incredible. Maybe this wouldn't require a water shader at all, just a carefully adjusted refraction property on the mesh... but again, I'm no expert. I don't even know if this is even technically possible or if it's a game engine limitation. Any thoughts on this? I've tried messing around with it in nifskope, briefly, but I had no luck.

You can add a custom water nif at the sides of the tank like I have seen it in a player house of Summerset Isle (which uses a resource by mrpdean for this) but in my opinion it looks a bit weird, the water surface obviously does not like to be rotated.
You can have a look at it yourself, here I made a custom water that fits to the long sides of Phitt's tank: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a8ycsstkhefyf6l/TestWater.nif?dl=0
Add it as activator with HorseTrough Water, place it at the fishtank and rotate it so that it fits to the long sides. Watch the fishes and tell me if you really like the look.

I ended up messing with it in some other ways that worked out OK... I think part of what makes it look odd is that the glass is so perfectly crystal clear. What I ended up doing to the sides of the tank was changed the alpha property so the black texture was visible and then set the alpha in the lighting shader property to 0.45, so the glass has kind of a smokey translucent look. I've been messing with parallax and environment maps and stuff too, but I think what might really set it off is replacing the black texture with something more detailed and colored to match a specific water type. I will probably give the real water on the sides thing a try at some point too, but I have tried rotating water planes in the CK before and it definitely didn't go smoothly.

I'm having trouble getting this in my inventory with Jaxons Positioner. It only target's the stuff inside the tank and not the entire container. Someone wrote a comment on the second page saying it's possible but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. By the way I love your resources. I'm working on a couple of mods with them.

I can't help you with the positioner. Try to PM the user who posted that it works for them.

The tank is made of several different parts - the tank itself, the individual fish and the waterplants. I would assume you would need to grab each piece separately and then reassemble them wherever you want the fishtank to be.

Sorry that's what I meant to say. My problem is I can't get the positioner to target the tank itself. Maybe it only finds it at a weird angle. I'll try again when I get a chance.

Unrelatedly, if you don't mind smaller fish, you could just use BadGremlin's Something Fishy mod. I'm not sure if the fish are animated (I haven't taken a look in-game) but Tamira's resource here is much cooler so I'd say keep trying

I'm a rabid fangirl of BadGremlin's mods so I have that already But good idea they will make a temporary replacement until I get better at the Creation Kit
