    Oh... by the way...

I am aware that some of the translations I placed there go against what the wikia suggests ( http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Draugr_(Skyrim) ) ... but I trust the commentaries of Bethesda more than the wikia.

    A few examples:
"Kren Sosaal!" is referred in the wikia as "May your blood break", while Bethesda says it's "Break and bleed!"

"Faaz! Paak! Dinok!" is referred in the wikia as "Fear! Stink! Death!", while Bethesda says it's "Pain! Shame! Death!"

"dir volaan!" is referred in the wikia as "die quickly!", while Bethesda says it's "die, intruder!"

    ---

All the translations I inserted are from the original Bethesda commentaries.

I'm still pretty sure that Volaan means Quickly or Swiftly, though. Laan means slow and the prefix Vo means Un or Opposite-of. I love the idea, though, but I'm sticking to the Thu'um.org community when it comes to Dovahzul. They actually seem to have thought it through more than Bethesda have. ._.

Oh, definitely. The word of Bethesda isn't the word of God, I agree they could have messed up in the commentaries. Still, I preferred to go 100% with what Bethesda is saying to avoid taking responsibility for mistakes.

      Edit:

I just found out that the thu'um.org agrees with Bethesda's commentary.

      http://www.thuum.org/translate.php

According to them "volaan" really means intruder.

So in the end, both thu'um.org and bethesda are at the same side.

The Wikia is alone on that matter.

Huh. Well, in my defense, it's been some time since I last checked that particular word. >_>

I peruse UESP.net whenever I have to check on a quest, a fact or a translation, as the quality is a bit more tightly controlled so as to ensure a correct answer, although not everything in TES can be answered.

I'd just like to add that although Volaan could actually be a word containing 'opposite-of slow', the thu'um for red is Sahqo, which is 'phantom lightning', and mountain ends up as 'storm fall'.

So sometimes combined words don't always mean what you would expect.

I disagree, Bethesda IS the Word of God when it comes to TES stuff.

Just how all EU from Star Wars is now non canon now that Disney owns SW.

You can have your head canon sure but the Devs word is law.

      @agentspoon

But sometimes even the developers can commit mess ups ... don't you agree? Specially in a game that was so rushed in release, like Skyrim.

      @Omega1084

      Wait, what?! hahah

Is that a reference to Dragon Ball? I didn't get it...

I believe that a words could be different in certain contexts or when other words are with it.

I don't think the wiki is wrong. But I think Bethesda is right for the context.

Anyone that's having trouble with this mod should note that it does say it's for USKP. If you're using USLEEP, it's possible this is the issue. The ESP I downloaded didn't have either as a master file, but there's obviously a reason the author made different ones for USKP or no USKP. Granted, even the version for people without USKP might not play well with USLEEP, but it's worth a shot if you're having trouble and want to get this working.

I was having trouble getting this mod to work at first. But that was because I had other draugr/skeleton audio/fx mods installed. Once I removed them, this mod started showing subtitles. I never knew they said things in the game, and never saw any subtitles from them until now in my 6,000+ hours of Skyrim.

      Endorsed.

I'm thrilled that this mod exists, thank you. What are the barriers of making this mod for the Special Edition (SKYRIM SE)?

im curious if this is being or has been ported to SSE or if coz its a manual download if its possible to work with SSE as is as long as u manually add it to the data files and such as an .esp file (as u can with guard dialogue overhaul t- tho they warn it may act up since its not a complete port over and is just an .esp port if u do try)

I really enjoy your mod, and I'm going to be one of those typical people who asks for something.I want understandable dragons! This was such a great mod, use every play through, one of my few endorsed mods. Language is meant to be understood at some point, and I simply don't have time to translate it myself. I wish more game mechanics included learning lost languages! Your mod would blow my mind if different partially translated versions of text could be used as rare books were discovered. Probably not possible, but would make looking for those books, and learning the dragon language before meeting alduin very useful.

AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!!!! Hey does this show the English subtitles for when the dragons speak too? or can you do another mod for that? Also is the unofficial Skyrim patch version for The Legendary edition or just for the regular one? Because I use Legendary! Or should I be fine even with the Legendary patch mod?

I'm sure it's a conflict or something, but this was causing a CTD issue for me.

It doesn't seem like a mod like this would cause it, but I'm positive that disabling this allowed me to enter the game, it was causing me to crash seconds after entering the world (It was an interior, if that helps).

One gaping hole I noticed... the shouts themselves are not also translated. For instance, when a Draugr says "Fus..." "Ro...Da!"

I went ahead and rigged one of these up for myself, but I merged it into Linguists of Skyrim (q.v.) so I can't distribute it without chopping the other part out. It only took me about 25 minutes in TES5Edit to copy the Shout01a through Shout03 topics and edit the NAM1 response text to taste, so I probably don't have to share to begin with, but if you want it (it can't be distributed directly) I can send it over. In any case, Draugr will say "Fus... (Force...)" "...Ro dah! (...Balance, push! )", which is cool. I'm tempted to do a non-literal translation and make it into "...Ro dah! (...UNRELENTING FORCE! )" but that's a little too subjective. =)
