2018 - I'm downloading the mod for myself! I wouldn't settle for less!
Almost Christmas 2020, and I am still using this mod. I love it !!!
NOW IT'S AUGUST 22,2022, and I still love using this mod !  It brings the perfect balance.

Description                                                                     

This is an easy to use Patch. You need this Patch if you want a better frame rate, a better looking landscape, and interiors, and bodies. If you prefer a more detailed process,  I have included a .Pdf, or a .doc, file explaining a step by step procedure. This booster may seem frivolous, but I would have payed to know these secrets before. I have gained more than 15 frames per second outside Whiterun. Look at the images.

The .pdf, or .doc, file is a brief tutorial to help you get a HUGE boost in your Skyrim's performance. As a result, everything will look 10 times better. And the game will run smoother, faster, and it will look amazing, especially if you are currently averaging around 15 frames per second, or "less".  So simple, YET very powerful.

There is no shortcut that meets these "results". Changing values in any .ini file does NOT do it as good -- Reducing fade distance does NOT do it -- Using Grass on steriods does NOT do it -- Using another grass mod does NOT do it -- Reducing decals does NOT do it. This IS IT. It does not get better than this, for "looks" and "performance"!

WHO THIS MOD IS FOR:
(NOTE:  IF YOU HAVE A BOOTLEG SKYRIM COPY, please do not ask me how to install this mod, or you'll not be answered.)

This mod is for those who have taken time to make their Skyrim look awesome, but are now suffering a decrease inframe rate. These are the wonderful people who want to make Skyrim look exactly the way they want it to. This is not for those who have done nothing to Skyrim and who already have a very high frame rate. It goes with needing to say, if you do not use a mod like Skyrim Flora Overhaul to add plants and flowers and trees, and your frame rate outside is higher than 40 FPS then you may already have a high performance set up. (If you don't know how to see frame rate, I would recommend downloading an app like Bandicam.)

The other methods for "reducing" frame rate are what I term "destructive", meaning they take away beauty rather than enhancing it. For example, reducing fade distance: it would also remove other vegetation and leave you with large, very ugly empty spots, where grass and vegetation are missing until you get close enough, then they'll suddenly "pop" in, totally distracting you from immersion.

Other performance boost mods "sacrifice quality" to increase performance. I don't want to do that to my Skyrim, and I don't want you to do that to yours. I want to have high quality and high performance.

This is an artistic "surgical procedure", where I gently guide your hand while instructing you, to give you  beautiful results. I wouldn't give you something I wouldn't use myself. I have a high-end computer, and I still use it. My logic is, why have extra grass for looks if it slows down the frame rate, if slowing down the frame rate makes it look bad? So I needed a technique for doing this.

One of the amazing things you''ll enjoy about this is how much better frame rate is better anywhere you  go in Skyrim, even in places that have dense vegetation  and many trees. You will go into the forest, stand next to a rushing river, and see that everything looks better than ever. Even the Dungeons and Caves look better and have a higher frame rate. Since your Skyrim is not working so hard to do its job outside, it has more vitality to do its job inside.

This is a MUST HAVE for anyone who wants better frame rates and better textures. I've used this mod myself, several times during test re-installations, and I love it!  It saves me time, and it's so convenient.


Skyrim Performance Booster Patch
To make this easy for those who don't want to read the .pdf or .doc file, I have included a Patch. If the patch does not work for you, you WILL have to read the .pdf or .doc and follow the instructions. If it appears to be stuck, close it and restart it. Then, give it a few minutes to do its job.

The Big Question: How Does It Work?
This question has been the most popular question yet. Sadly, it has been by people who don't care to use the mod. Because, if they had, they would have read the PDF, or DOC, file and learned how the mod works. The documentation extensively lays out not only the dynamics, but also the methods to control the power itself with your own two hands, so that it can be tailored to meet the needs of your computer. I have spent many hours putting all of this together for your benefit, because YOU deserve better.  I hope you will not only enjoy it, but also show courtesy when posting comments here. The Patch is for those who don't want to spend time reading these documents. I use the patch myself.

Load Order
The best load order is:  (1) Skyrim Flora Overhaul  (2) all other Skyrim Flora Overhaul addons (e.g. Dawnguard, Dragonborn, etc.)   3. Unique Grasses   4. UG Plugin (Unique Grasses Plugin).

Windows 8 Patch and Custom Windows Patch Now Available !
This new patch is for YOU if you have windows 8, OR if you have a custom Skyrim windows set-up. In other words,  if you have installed Skyrim in another location,  other than the default location,  USE THIS PATCH. The way to use it is simple. Place it into your Steam folder, which is the SAME folder as the one that has the "SteamApps" folder. Then click it But, be sure to read the instructions. 

Windows 10 Support
For anyone using Windows 10, I HAVE MORE GREAT NEWS !  I am excited to say, The Performance Booster Patch will work !  Just grab the latest patch designed for ""Windows 10 and 8 and Custom Windows"", and use it. Just be sure you carefully read the instructions on how to use it.


Within the PDF/DOC I've added a FULL INSTALL section to include all files necessary for a jaw dropping Skyrim. Not only will things run fast and smooth, but the females and males will have amazing looking bodies. The females are setup to display   exceptional   HDT movements. Please note, not all HDT's are the same, and this arrangement I have made is The Best.

DOWNLOAD
I update this file often, because perfect isn't perfect enough for me. (Hence...12 updates so far.) So you "might" be downloading the file during the update process, and that MIGHT leave you with a file that doesn't work. Easy Solution my friend:  download the file again! And check back later for any new update, you won't want to miss.

The Booster Patches come in 2 Flavors:
       Skyrim Performance Booster (Regular) : for those who want a nice boost in performance
       Skyrim Performance Booster (Max) : for those who want to go all the way, "pedal to the floor"...Skyrim. Regular Patch must be used first.

WARNING:
If you add another tree mod, like Aspen Trees, you will likely wreck your SFO tree LOD, and your distant trees will look like junk. If you have already done it, just unistall the "other" tree mod, then reinstall SFO, Unique Grasses and G.C., and Unique Grasses and G.C. Plugin again. Then run the Patch.

I should also tell you that if you use an ENB, and you still need more frames per second, try disabling Ambient Occlusion. Not all ENB's are equal. Some ENB's are more power hungry than others. Some need ambient occlusion turned on for better 3d effects, while others do not. And well tuned Skyrim configuration .ini files can even help your ENB perform better.

VERSIONS
Please note that all references to Skyrim Flora Overhaul, and Unique Grasses and Groundcovers, and Unique Grasses and Groundcovers Plugin apply to
the "Versions" upto the date 10/1/14. Although you are welcome to experiment with updates to those Mods, I cannot guarantee they will have the same outcome expected by Skyrim Performance Booster. Note: I have noticed different results from different versions of SFO, so maybe you'll want to experiment to see which results you like the most.

Green Grass
Want green grass instead of brown grass, try my friend Renthal's grass. Install it AFTER you run The Skyrim Performance Booster Patch, or after you have made changes according to the instructions provided in the guide.  (Recent Notice: Renthal311 has removed his vast collection of files, but the all in one file can be downloaded here:  Flora Mod Collection.) I have still listed his file, because it is worthy of appreciation: REAL GRASS for Skyrim.)

I ran the booster and it closed almost instantly. I have to admit I thought "Well ****, another rubbish performance mod that doesn't work".
About an hour later after I watched some TV I decided to fire up Skyrim
and see did it actually work. I'm so sorry that I doubted this mod it is

I SERIOUSLY  recommend you install this other file with it, for BEST results:
                                            JW's Skyrim Configuration Files.  ANOTHER FEATURED HOTFILE!
             Why use the Config. files? Because they will add just the right amount of vegetation and shading for this booster. Do it yes yes!
