About this mod

Adds a cosmetic obscurement aura to the Nightingale Armor which is activated when stealthed.

Permissions and credits
This is a reworking of the Nightingale Shadowcloak mod by pennox. This does not require the original mod.

NOTE:
This is not intended to take over the original author's mod; this is simply an alternative vision. I have attempted to contact pennox, suggesting this could be an alternative download for his mod in lieu of a separate entry here. If that's what he wants to do, I'll pull this entry. As yet I have not received a response. Given the last visible activity from pennox was in August 2012, I may not get one. As such, permission to modify the original mod is pending.

The original mod adds an inky black cosmetic aura affect to the Nightingale Armor which activates around the character when stealthed.

I like the idea of that mod, but there are a few things I wish were done differently:

 * I don't think a fickle deity that grants and revokes luck would provide a sure fire blanket of darkness for her followers to hide in; instead, it should be more vague yet still able to be spotted by someone who's really looking carefully.  Gotta keep those followers on their toes!
 * The current aura completely obscures the very cool Nightingale armor.
 * It didn't have enough of a nod to Nocturnal in the color scheme.
 * The aura was moving way too fast for my liking (if you're in the shadows, you don't want to display lots of quick movement to catch the eye).
 * The smoke seemed to be very thick and wispy, again an obvious attention getter.
 * The black aura overall seems too glossy for me, kind of shiny.  I wanted to have something a bit more dull and able to hide in half-light better.

This is my patch to pennox's mod.  Here are the differences:
 1. New black and purple Membrane Shader texture, adding transparency to allow the dark armor to peek through.
 2. Adjusted the settings to slow down the animation speed across the player.
 3. Reduced the smoke's particle density to 1/4 of the previous value and altered the colors somewhat.

CREDIT:
All credit for the idea of this mod goes to pennox, I just patched it to get it looking right for me.

COMPATIBILITY:
This mod has no reliance on any DLCs or other mods; as pennox's mod, it just adds a cloaking effect to the Nightingale Armor. As such, any other mod that modifies the target armor could conflict, unless this is last in the load order. (I'm using this in conjunction with the Accented Nightingale Armor without issue).

INSTALLATION:
NMM/MO:
Download with Manager and activate.

Manual:
Extract the esp file, Meshes folder and the Texture folder into the Data folder.

UNINSTALLATION:
NMM/MO:
Simply deactivate the mod.

Manual:
Remove the following files:
%GameFolder%\Data\NightingaleShadowcloak.esp
%GameFolder%\Data\Meshes\maic\nightingalecloak.nif
%GameFolder%\Data\Textures\effects\gradients\_gradnightingaleshadow.dds
%GameFolder%\Data\Textures\effects\gradients\gradnightingalearmorshadow.dds

PLANS:
The colors of the smoke effect aren't yet to my liking... looking to tweak them some more to match the aura when I learn more about the Particle Shader.

This is my first foray into Skyrim modding; please feel free to leave (constructive) criticism in the comments. Flames and unicorn bait will be received in the spirit they are given.

Enjoy!
