What's a Dovahkiin to do when he or she wants to disappear for awhile and maybe take a break from being the center of everyone's attention?
Perhaps you'd enjoy the simple life as a hunter or fisherman and enjoy the rest in your woodland sanctuary. Sip some mead while lazing on the porch swing or take a nap in the hammock, casually converse with passersby, head out back to go fishing or swimming, or take the boat for a camping trip to that peaceful little lake you discovered.
Those who are welcomed into your cabin home will never suspect your true identity. The trappings of the Dragonborn - your special armors and weapons are kept safely hidden away. Just move some furniture, roll back a rug, and access the non-loading trap door to begin your transformation into Skyrim's one true hero.



Though I intended this mod for the solitary PC, accommodations have been made for others. Two can sleep indoors - one single bed; one movable bedroll - and three more guests can sleep under the porch roof outside - one in the hammock and two more with the stored gear. It's also intended as a secondary home location but for the right person would certainly suffice as the primary and only one.

"The Cabin" is map-marked just northeast of Hillgrund's Tomb and High Hrothgar next to the main road and the river.

Installation:

I always recommend going indoors somewhere on your last save prior to installing and activating a new mod unless instructed otherwise. Outdoor workstations might not work properly otherwise.
Install in your usual manner.

Quests / Keys:

None and none. Do note however that the door will be locked when you arrive. FYI - there's a simple Dwemer relock mechanism on the outside that raises and lowers the interior bar through a series of hidden gears and pulleys. :)

Included stuff:

  • Lots of activators which you'll find easily enough by just taking the time to look around. Only two require a previous action: (The second activator won't appear until the first is accomplished.) (1)You need to light the fire in the bedroom before the second activator appears in the kitchen to allow you to cook. (2)This is the access to the hidden basement which has already been referred to.
  • All outdoor lanterns are on a timer but one: you activate the one on the table next to the porch swing.
  • The interior curtains, daytime ambient lighting, and sounds are also on a timer. As with all elements using the game clock these may take a game day to cycle and adjust to your current time.
  • All storage is safe except for one which is marked 'Water Keg [respawns]'
  • Weapon racks are plentiful once the basement has been discovered. (There are no mannequins in this cabin - thank you very much.)
  • Cooking, tanning, sharpening, wood chopping, enchanting, and alchemy stations are available on the premises.

Friendly to all computers. (I experienced zero drop in frame rate with any and all aspects of this mod.)

Update to V2:

Simply changes the interior's location from Hillgrund's Tomb Location to Pale Hold Location to avoid conflicting comments from certain NPCs.


Thanks to magickman12 for suggesting I make a roadside home so you can watch or interact with people that pass by - a good idea put to use in this mod. Several mods are available that increase road traffic too as I'm sure you're aware.
