I can confirm that it's not fixed by any of the unofficial patches, unless another one of my mods was breaking it again for some reason, though none of my other mods affect it so that's not likely.
EDIT: Also, if you look at the Unofficial Skyrim Patch's full changelog it never mentions anything about the Staff of Magnus.
It is not fixed by USKP. However, it seems that the UPDATE.ESP file does make corrections to this, in such a way that seemingly makes the modifications here unnecessary (unless you opted for the >20dmg versions).
Apparently because what is supposed to be "Run On : Subject" is now wrongly "Run On : Target" by latest patch, the program detects if there is any Magicka left in the player(not in enemies). as a result, The Staff is absorb magicka but never switches ove to absorb health...
There seems to be a problem with the staff where sometimes it won't damage or absorb health at all and you have to keep letting go and firing until it does. I'm not sure if it's a bug from this mod or just one with the vanilla game, but a fix for it if possible would be greatly appreciated.
Is it your mod that changes Morkei's masks properties? I noticed that it now reduces the time between shouts for 20%, beside regeneration of magicka of 100% ???
Great fix for the best looking staff in the game. The staff in vanilla, absorbs 20mps to the staff itself not the mage who is wielding it. That is why the charge level of the vanilla staff is so large because the staff in some ways recharge itself when it's been using. but after installing this mod, the charge level of the staff is too brief.
Well as the vanilla description can be misleading. It actually does what it says. Absorb is the same as damage for this staff.
Anyways to continue with its lore and not change it up too much I think it would be really cool to make the staff release a powerful charge or ball of energy once its absorbed a certain amount of magika/health. Thus keeping up with its lore description that the Staff (not the wielder) can absorb great amounts of energy.
So why not have it be able to release it when needed?

BOSS says that the fix was covered by Official Patch 1.4...do I just ignore that and play then?
Download at your own risk, or if your Skyrim version is way outdated for some reason.
