YOUR PATIENCE, SUPPORT, AND DETAILED FEEDBACK IS GREATLY APPRECIATED! SPECIAL THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE DONATED! <3
FAQ (ongoing) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Q: There's a tree sticking out of a ledge / clipping into an object. Can you fix this? A new ESP is coming in the optional files for this. However, positional data is stored in your save, so it would require a new game to take effect! If you find a tree that overhangs too much, is blocking something, or is too big in some other way, you can fix instantly this in-game by opening the console with the ~ key, clicking on the tree in question, and typing setscale x.x with 1.0 being current size (i.e. to make a tree half as big, type setscale 0.5). It's fun to landscape!
Sometimes it may be difficult to select a specific tree because the bounding boxes can overlap. You can scroll your middle mouse wheel to select what's "behind" it, or TFC (free cam) fly up to the top of the tree and click the tip of it, where nothing is overlapping. BUT, you only have to do this once because it will stay in your save forever!
Also, I HIGHLY suggest MFG Console, which will give you loads of additional information in the console about objects you click on.
Q: Are you still going to make a medium sized version? This fell lower in priority in lieu of getting proper LODs and SFO compatibility. This may still happen!
Q: How is this different from "Skyrim Bigger Trees?" I should probably pick a more unique name First, that's a great mod I have used, and everything comes down to preference. I am not trying to compete or convince anyone what is "better" 'cos there is no such thing! The difference is that mod places trees by hand around parts of Skyrim via the CK, by editing cells directly. This means not all trees are bigger, and it will cause conflicts with other mods utilizing the same place on the map. This mod edits the meshes directly, so EVERY tree in Skyrim and beyond is larger without any conflicts with other mods. The flipside is that there is no design control over how the trees are laid out, they are just all BIGGER, whereas Skyrim Bigger Trees put a lot of work into designing a mood for specific areas (and did an amazing job BTW.)
Q: Does this effect performance? If so, why? It completely depends on your setup. When I run ENB with ambient occlusion, AA, detailed shadows, I notice extra FPS drop in dense areas, but not too much more than I do with vanilla trees. As to why, it's the same reason why bigger grass can cause performance dips: Bigger shadows to draw over more objects, more screen area to apply AA calculations to, etc.
I like this mod, but in my opinion many of trees are too big. Just unrealistically huge and tall. Maybe you can make them a little smaller, at least up to 1.2 times the size of vanilla? And if you make them smaller, it means lods need to be redone and mods that exist won’t work.
Simple change, big impact. Loving seeing ancient forests in my current video series as the Nord thief Nalja Nine-Lives! This mod has been a staple in my load order for a long time.
I made sure to shout-out this mod at the end of the video, and link here in the description. Many thanks!
That depends. If they replace the same tree meshes, then no. Mod Organizer should tell you if there are conflicts. If they replace the textures to make the trees look snowy, then yes.
The Trees are bigger and there is no clipping. The trees do not have snow on them like they should though. If you're ok with this then I guess you can use it with Winter Overhaul 2019.
I have no idea how but I'm getting better fps and bigger trees compared to EVT. I think it's sorcery and the mod author should be aggressively hugged and kissed. Thank you!
This is probably unironically my favorite Skyrim mod. As soon as I popped it in--I was like "OH. I wanna live here now." Didn't know something so simple could make such a difference. ^^
Glad you're enjoying it! I remember when I was experimenting and got it working the first time, I freaked out at how different the area around Riverwood/Falkreath was!
