Thank you so much for these beautiful resources! I've just uploaded a mod which replaces the stone in the Ancient Falmer Crown with one of your lovely gems.

I am working on Jewelry mods for Enderal Forgotten Stories, and was looking for better meshes I could use, and these look like just what I need. If I use your meshes (and gem textures), I will of course give you credit in the mod description, and I will post back here if/when I post the mod. May I assume that would be considered acceptable use?

Thanks for the ruby meshes selected a few edited them in nifskope with new textures (bleh default grey noise) and environment maps and replaced all the existing gems with them and they look amazing with new stone cuts :D

    Saerileth,

I just wanted to come back and offer a heartfelt "thank you" for the "Vanilla Jewelry combinations" addition. I use kryptopyr's Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade, and it's included Jewelcraft module. With a simple file structure change of the included ring meshes and the great work from your own Gemling Queen Jewelry it covers all the gold and silver rings and necklaces in the game. Everything looks so much better now in my game.

Thank you very much for this resource, and for making those nif's in the first place. Cheers.

Edit: I'd be remiss to fail to mention both the Endorsement of both mods, as well as Kudos point given, keep up the great work, it's appreciated.

I came across this problem when trying to make a gold emerald necklace. I first copied the gold sapphire necklace files and then tried to modify the gem outer and gem inner parts in nifskope by using the silver emerald necklace gem outer and gem inner parts as guides. In gem outer, I changed, in BSLightingShaderProperty, the emissive color to dark green (R 0.004, G 0.114, B 0.000) and the environment map scale to 0.5, and in BSTextureSet, the texture from texture/cubemaps/opal_e.dds to texture/armor/circlets/emerald_e.dds. In gem inner, I changed, in BSLightingShaderProperty, the specular color to light green (R 0.714, G 0.950, B 0.364) and the environment map scale to 0.9, and in BSTextureSet, the texture from texture/cubemaps/opal_e.dds to texture/armor/circlets/emerald_e.dds. However when I look at the new item in the game, the emerald has a bit of green in it but it is still tinged dark blue. I repeated the process by copying the gold diamond necklace files instead, but now the emerald is practically white with a hint of green. It seems there's a field I was supposed to change somewhere, but I couldn't figure it out. Can anyone help?

I know you can use an existing necklace with the same gem and just change the vertex colors in "amulet" to match the metal you want or directly copy the BSLghtingShader settings from something with the gem you want to a necklace with the correct metal (as far as I can see in nifskope, the NiTriShape settings appear to be identical so I don't know why these need to be changed), but I want to know what field(s) I'm missing because there may be a time when I want to edit the color of existing gems or make new ones.

Well, you also need to change the textures, not just the environment maps (the ones ending in _e that you changed). My main textures are what gives the gems their colour, emissive / specular colours are just used for highlights and tweaking.

Hmmm...I looked around but I couldn't find where I would change it. Could you tell me what field I'm supposed to change (and to what)?

Edit: Ah I found out what I was missing. I didn't "Edit UV" in the gem outer and gem inner NiTriShape. For those who don't how to do that, right click NiTriShape, go to Texture -> Edit UV, and then select all points and drag the object to the correct section of the texture (the texture is a 3x3 grid that holds the textures for all the gems: (from right to left, top to bottom) amethyst, garnet, ruby, diamond, emerald, sapphire, aquamarine, peridot, amber)

      Great resources by the way!

So I have two questions. When you mean "reupload without the slightest change" where you referring to uploading the whole mod as is, or where you referring to that one must modify the meshes before including it in their mod? Also was there ever any golden ring texture for the rings without the vertex colors? I don't see any in the Gemling Queen Jewelry pack so I figured I'd ask about that as well. I'd like to add the aquamarine necklace and the peridot ring (but golden) to a house mod I'm working on, (and the onyx big and small meshes too).

I meant rehosting part or all of this pack as modder's resource, even with credit given I don't want people to do that. Using any of the included files in your own mods is fine though, that's what I uploaded the resource for.

Unfortunately no, I never made a gold texture for the rings. These meshes were made for kryptopyr's Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade and she requested them without vertex colours, but the mod is still work in progress and I don't know if she has the textures finished yet. You could ask her, I guess. Or I can show you how to add the vertex colours back in, if you'd like.

Thank you for clarifying that. It's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure first. And if you can show me how to do that (the vertex color thing), I'd much appreciate it.

You'll need the latest version of NifSkope for starters. How familiar are you with the program? If you've worked with it before, I can gloss over some of the steps. If not, I'll need to go into extra detail.

I'm familiar with it, and I should have the latest version installed (the one on sourceforge correct?)

Yes, that should do nicely. There are two ways to restore the vertex colours on the amulets:

      1. The easiest way. Open the mesh you want to recolour and select the NiTriShape that forms the metal part (should be called "amulet" ). Expand the shape and select the NiTriShapeData node. Down in the Block Details, find the "Vertex Colours" array. If the array is greyed out, there should be a field directly above it called "Has Vertex Colours", change this to true if it's set to false. You can now right click the array and select Color->Set All. Then choose a nice bright orange from the colour wheel. Then navigate to the BSLightingShaderProperty node and in the Block Details double click on the "Shader Flags 2" field. Click on the little arrow on the right side to expand the list, then make sure "SLSF2_Vertex_Colors" is ticked. Save under a different filename and you're done.
The problem with this approach is that you pick the colour by hand, so it might not match the vanilla gold perfectly. If you really want it to be the same, try the more complicated approach #2.

      2. Open a vanilla amulet mesh (e.g. gold diamond necklace) alongside the mesh you want to recolour. Save it under a different name. We will not modify my mesh at all, rather we will copy the aquamarine gem into the vanilla amulet. I will call my mesh the source, the vanilla amulet the destination for simplicity. Note that with "vanilla" I actually mean a mesh from my Gemling Queen Jewelry mod, it won't work otherwise (yes, you have permission to use it obviously).
On both meshes expand the NiTriShape labelled "gem_outer". In the destination, delete both the NiTriShape and BSLightingShaderProperty nodes by hitting CTRL+delete. In the source, copy the BSLightingShaderProperty and paste it into the NiTriShape of the destination (CTRL+C and CTRL+V works). Do the same with the NiTriShapeData, but notice how it does not automatically get assigned to the correct place. Relink the block by noting the number on the left of it's type in the hierarchy, then select the NiTriShape ("gem_outer" ), find the " Data" field in it's Block Details and enter the number there. This should link it properly. Now repeat these steps for the "gem_inner" NiTriShape and you're done.

Note that you will need to do this 5 times for each amulet, because there are 5 different meshes (inventory/ground view, male and female rigged versions at 0 and 100 weight respectively). If you use method 2 make sure you copy to and from the same "type" of mesh (same suffix in the filename). Otherwise it won't work.

Now the rings are actually much simpler to restore, just tick the SLSF2_Vertex_Colors flag in their shader settings. This is because I never actually removed the vertex colours from these meshes, I just disabled them.

I hope this is not too confusing, let me know if you're having trouble with anything.

Edit: Well here's the house mod where I used your resources if you'd like to see it: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64671/? Thanks again for the help earlier.

Hey, I discovered something about using Nifskope to change the array color!

If you color the first vertex manually, using the 3-code color you want, when you go to change the entire array, that color will be immediately available on the color wheel for you to change the entire ring to it. Therefore, if you want your rings to be exactly like vanilla gold rings, just open up a vanilla mesh and copy down the vertex color!

(Knowing that updated Nifskope has an option to change the entire array is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I think I just did two days' work in two hours.)

    Vanilla Jewelry Combinations
I added a new pack with material/gem combinations of rings/circlets that are not available in the vanilla game. Check the changelog for a full list of included variants.

These meshes were requested by several people who use other jewelry mods, such as More Jewelry Combinations, but also wanted the new items to have my prettier gems. Note that I do not cater to a specific mod like the one mentioned above - I simply provide the meshes, you will have to figure out yourself which meshes to replace and where to put them. It's also not a complete set of all possible combinations, you may find that some of the more atrocious variations (e.g. jade + garnet) are missing. I will not add them, but I can explain how it's done should anyone want to do it themselves.

If you are the author of such a mod, feel free to include my meshes in an optional patch, just make sure your users are aware that they should also use my Gemling Queen Jewelry replacer for the vanilla meshes.

    Let's make this official:
All my mod projects are currently on hold, because I am incredibly busy with other things at the moment.

Unfortunately this means that there will be no updates to any of my mods for quite a while. I may have some time to work on them occasionally, but I can't promise anything. I would like to apologise to all the people that I've promised stuff to, you have been super patient with me in the past and I am very sorry about this new delay. I'll let you know when I make any progress.

I will still be lurking about the site and answer comments occasionally, so I'm not gone for good! I'm too addicted to modding to quit XD. So thank you for your patience, and hopefully I'll be back soon.
