When Commander Maro orders the Penitus Oculatus to raze the Falkreath Sanctuary, rather than arriving too late, you’re right on time -- your Family members are wounded or fighting for their life, and if you honor your Family, you’ll do your damnedest to save them. You can aid the wounded with spells or by speaking to them to gift them healing potions, and for the rest, you merely need to kill Maro’s agents before they kill your Brothers and Sisters -- and, of course, escort everyone to safety through the burning Sanctuary.

Surviving members will relocate to the Dawnstar Sanctuary post-questline and can be taken as followers. Veezara, Gabriella, and the now tragically available Arnbjorn can be married (you probably don’t want to be Festus’ spouse…). If you are a werewolf yourself, Arnbjorn will transform when you do, assuming he’s your current follower.

This mod will only work on saved games that haven’t completed “Death Incarnate” yet, sorry. The point of no return is best considered to be Commander Maro’s confronting you after your stint as a chef.


A working copy of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.


Place the contents of the .7z file in your "Data" folder, which is usually located under Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim.

The ReadMe document and the .bsl file are not required for the mod to run -- you may keep them or discard them.


Delete the included .esp and .bsa file.

The nature of Skyrim’s scripting language, Papyrus, means that, even following this procedure, your Papyrus log will continue to throw errors about missing scripts, potentially leading to save game bloat. There is, lamentably, nothing that I can do about this -- you have been warned.


Replace all older files with newer versions. If in doubt, replace all mod files with the contents of the latest uploaded archive.

No in-game configuration is necessary.


As of yet, none.


This should be compatible with practically any mod that does not alter DB10 and also does not edit any dialogue records I have edited in this mod. The Dark Brotherhood members themselves have not been edited and so any overhaul for them specifically will work with this mod installed. Changes from the Unofficial Skyrim Patch have been mirrored here, don't worry.

You should not fast travel to mod-added map markers located around the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary when returning to the Sanctuary at the end of "To Kill an Empire"; if the marker is too close, this mod will not function properly (although “Death Incarnate” and the Dark Brotherhood questline can still be completed). The nearby vanilla map markers are all safe to travel to, though.
