The idea is great (and much needed, really), and the writing is more or less solid, but dude... You have to put space after ellipsis, that s#*! is just intolerable
LMAO this comment section, you mod skyrim so that all the women will look like from Hentai and you are bothered by this? If you want your player character's dialogues to be like this download it and use it, else don't. Easy as that
Old post, but yes. You can look at them in XEdit and pick the dialogue that you prefer and make a patch. It's not a complete overlap. Last, thanks for mentioning that mod, I've never seen that one, and yes that's what I'll be doing for My load order.
I was psyched for a second, then the description and the posts hit me. Spelling errors are ew, and an overuse of ellipses is my biggest pet peeve when ANYONE writes.
Yep. If you see "..." for any reason in game dialogue other than an incomplete (interrupted or cut-off) utterance, someone is making a mistake. That said, it should be reasonably easy to edit all the "..." stuff back out. I like the overall idea of this mod, but there are typos, and some iffy grammar, here and there. For example, while it's actually normal everyday English to end sentences with prepositions (and always has been), it's not a habit of careful and formal-leaning speakers, so I would've used much less of that. E.g. "What is this of which you speak?" not "What is this you speak of?".
But, well, everyone's a critic. I agree with the author that the vanilla dialogue is too contemporary. It basically sounds like a bunch of millennials on the subway sometimes.
How would I go about editing the ellipses to include a space between the last dot and the next word? This mod is one of my favorites, but this one oversight irks me a wee bit too much, lol :)
yooo, im curious what sort of mod did you use for that whiterun guard armor for it to look like that. its so weird and absurd that i almost lol-ed myself. may i know what mod is that kind sir? i want to personally see it myself what kind of mod is that
The time period of the game is completely irrelevant because this game doesn't take place on Earth and has absolutely nothing to do with its history besides being inspired by a ton of shit. This mod simply makes no sense.
And how exactly is "Why would I help you with that?" modern/contemporary and different from your alternative?
Im just gonna state, for the record, this is 100% not how people talked in ye olden days, unless you were some "Im smarter and better than you" jag off. Crap skyrims better educated then 70-90% of people back in those days. Maybe even higher. Either way most people couldn't read, and most people spoke like (talking for Europeans in this case) "Oi ye damn ninny, 'ow abou' ye come o'er 'ere an' kiss me arse" something you'd hear from lower classes "Righ' then. Tha'll be... Four copper, or wha'ever you got that can pay me." For middle class. And just a more refined version of middle for nobility. Point is, people talked dependant on station. Though some would talk like they didnt belong in that station, still though, this isnt as immersive as you think, unless bethesda said "everyone talks with big words in the elderscrolls". I just needed to state this.
Note this is all being said because you mentioned how thats how people talked back in the olden times. Though you did state it was more so in the movies, in the real world, it depends on station, nation, language, and you as the individual. Also, why would you say "And just what is it that required aid from another in this particular task?" when you could say "Whats the problem, why do you need help?"
I'm not saying its a bad mod, haven't even used it, I just wanted to educate people on history and how it was from what records, evidence, etc, we have.
