A Quality World Map and Solstheim Map - With Roads v8.4

mod by: IcePenguin

date: 4-1-2015

version: 8.4

credits: Ethatron ............ for providing improved map LOD.
scrivener07 ......... created the mod installer.
Farning ............. requested map with main roads.
Pcuser .............. found a missing road.
Peanutt010 .......... found a missing road.
rajendra82 .......... found a missing road.
Cordazar ............ reminded me about road to Goldenglow Estate.
Salah-ad Din ........ found 2 missing roads.
BlashyrkhRavendark .. found a missing road.
vufinder ............ found a missing road.
Mendayen ............ found a missing road.

Special thanks to scrivener07 for giving a lot of his time to write all the
code used for the mod installer. A lot of hard work was put into it and it
really shows! Excellent addition to this mod. :)

Special thanks to schlangster (SkyUI) for letting scrivener07 study all his
scripts and use some of Skyrim's files that he extracted.

Installation:

--NMM--
For NMM simply click "Download with Manager" button and activate the mod to
initialize the installer.

--Wrye Bash--
For Wrye bash users use the "..download manually" link. Drop the downloaded
zip file directly into your "..\Bash Installers" folder. Under the Bain
Installers tab pick ONE package prefixed by the word "Map". If you would
like to use the optional "Clear Map Add-on" select this package, too.

--Manual Install--
For manual install users, extract the zip file of the map option you have
downloaded. Inside the extracted folder, Copy the Data folder and paste
it to where your \Skyrim\Data folder is. It will ask you if you want to
overwrite the Data folder. Say yes. This will merge the two Data folders
together and place my mod with the correct file path. The file path should
look like this:

STEAM\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\textures\terrain\Tamriel\

Uninstall: Delete all .dds map files in the Tamriel folder.

NOTICE:
Classic Map is a Work in Progress. There are some LOD issues that I will
fix as soon as I can. :) You can still try it out, if you want.

NOTICE:
If you have the following "uLockedTerrainLOD" tweak in your Skyrim.ini, this
map won't load properly. Remove that line from your .ini for this mod to
work.

NOTICE:
Another possible INI setting that will prevent this map from loading is
"fMapWorldTransitionHeight". If you have this setting in your Skyrim.ini,
remove it.

NOTICE:
If you have "sMapCloudNIF=0" setting in your Skyrim.ini, please remove it or
the Clear Map add-on will NOT work.

This mod aims to give you a World Map that is fun to look at. It now has
better textures and introduces detailed roads. I tried my best to draw out
every single road, but if I missed one, please let me know! :D (I'm pretty
sure I got them all.) Also, roads are pretty accurate. I walked along every
one as I drew them, just to make certain. :p

Thanks goes to Ethatron for his High Quality 3D Map mod. This map uses the
high quality textures from his mod. His mod also provides Hi-Res map meshes,
which are compatible with this map, so if you want landscapes to be even more
detailed go download them! :) The files were generated with Oscape from the
original ESM. Thank you! :D

---

In version 2.0 I made a map that show main roads, only. This was requested
by Farning, and is a great idea. Thank you. :) Enjoy!

In version 3.0 I fixed a few roads to look nicer and added a missing road,
found by Pcuser. Thank you! Both maps have been updated so if you have
either map you will want 3.0.

In version 4.0 I compressed the map files using DXT1. There isn't any loss
of quality and should improve performance, if you were experiencing any FPS
hit that is. :) I also softened a few roads to make them nicer and re-drew
them for a more fluid look. Lastly, I extended the road south, leading to
Cyrodiil.

In version 5.0 I created two new maps. They are classic styled maps to give
that feel you are using a map and not a GPS device, haha. They are still in
3D, but have been completely redrawn and all objects have been removed as
well. I also drew the political borders for these maps: Whiterun Hold,
Falkreath Hold, The Reach, Haafingar, Hjaalmarch, The Pale, Winterhold,
Eastmarch, The Rift, all seperated by red borders. For the regular Quality
Maps, I smoothed out a few roads and tried to make them a little nicer. :)

In version 6.0 I added two missing roads. One was found by Peanutt010, and
is located southwest of Windhelm. Thanks Peanut! :) The second road that
was added is located to the east of Falkreath. I also re-drew every single
road. Main roads are now thicker and side roads are thinner. I also moved
a few roads, slightly, so they appear better on the map. Roads are a lot
smoother and easier to see in this update. Lastly, I removed the black
textures that were outside the map bounderies. So if you removed all of the
clouds, you won't be annoyed by black rectangles. :P

In version 7.0 I added seven missing roads. So many! Haha. :D They are
all minor roads except for the road leading to Goldenglow Estate, which I
consider a main road. The roads added are: 1 south of Ivarstead, 2 south
of Riften, 1 south of Labyrinthian going up the mountain, 1 southwest of
Marthal going up the mountain, 1 east of Helgen, 1 northwest of Riften. I
also fixed a few roads, yet again. They just looked weird to me so I fixed
them. Lastly, I made both maps compatible with Ethatron's High Quality map
meshes. If you've been using them, you might have noticed that some roads
were not aligned properly. Not anymore! All fixed. :)

In version 7.1 I added the Clear Map add-on as an optional download. This
add-on removes the inner clouds on the world map but keeps the outer clouds
that cover up Tamriel.

In version 8.0 I added 15 missing minor roads. They are all very tiny and
really hard to miss, haha. Thanks to those who sent me messages with roads
I missed. Thank you all! I also fixed many, many roads. See change log
for exact roads and locations. The BIGGEST part of this update is added
support for NMM and Wrye Bash users. Big thanks goes to scrivener07 for all
his hard work and volunteering to write a million lines of code to create
an easy-to-use installer just for you! It really makes this mod 100 times
easier to install. Be sure to give him a Kudos! :) Lastly, I edited the
worldmapcloudback.nif, in the Clear Map add-on, so all 4 layers of clouds are
closer together which makes them appear more dense around the edge of map.

In version 8.1 I added roads to the Solsthiem map from the Dragonborn DLC.

In version 8.2 there is a road in Solstheim leading to a Wind stone that was
off-position. It got completely over-looked in the initial checking. All
roads are good now! Sorry for the trouble! :p

In version 8.3 I greatly increased the texture quality of the Solstheim map,
so it looks less muddy-like.

In version 8.4 I updated the main installer to include the Solstheim map as
as install option. The classic map was removed from the installer, until I
can get it fixed and working. Also, I added a missing road to Solstheim,
leading to Kagrumez. In addition to that, I smoothed out various roads.
