Grunt is set as essential and unique. Note to Author and community. I) Essential means NPC (Including creatures) can only be killed by the player and not other NPCs. Unique means cannot be killed by anyone including player. So only one needs to be checked. Though checking both doesn't hurt anything. 2) In CK, you need to add a crime faction to factions tab (I set Grunt to Whiterun Crime faction, since he's in Riverwood) The locals will be more accepting of Grunt. After you add crime faction to list, don't forget to also add it ti drop down list. Also add "player.follower faction in. 3) under AI Packages add the following packages, default master package, player.follower package, and default.stay at current location 1024. the master package contains most of whats needed for a follower, NPC to know how to interact with the game world. the player.follower package gives information directly related to follower behaviors, and the default.stayatcurrentlocation keeps followers from wandering off during moments of inactivity. 4) Lastly, under relationship tab add the player as an ally, also add any other followers as an ally, stops most conflicts between followers. Side note: If you find yourself in a situation where 2 or more followers are fighting, here's a quick solution. In First person view, situate yourself so both combatants are on screen. Open comand console ~ click on one combatant then type [stopcombat] without brackets and hit enter, then click on second combatant and type same and hit enter. Close comand console ~. I made the changes you suggested, thank you soooo much for the input! I haven't had a ton of time to work on him, so I just kinda popped into CK, updated the things you mentioned, and then saved/uploaded it. I logged in and played a bit with him and it seemed to work fine. If you (or anyone) notices anything out of place, let me know.
I actually ran into that issue a few times myself. I'm still not convinced it was AFT, as I don't think I was using AFT the first time it happened, but I'm not sure what else it would have been. Let me know if it persists.
do you tested him under UFO I wonder??
I use UFO and grunt works fine. Alone or with other followers. One thing I have found, that causes issues is load order. The follower control mod MUST be loaded before ANY follower mods (Grunt). I have been modding and testing mods since Morrowind. So my advice on this topic is fully tested and solid. I have found that follower mods should be at the bottom of load order. Also if any follower mods are customizations of vanilla followers, they should be installed before other custom followers. I have customization mods I have done for all vanilla followers as well as additional new followers. This method works. At least with UFO. Hope this helps.
thank you A LOT. Yeah i changed days ago the load order sending Grunt BELOW UFO in my load order and it worked, well.... it worked after cheating something cos' I had to in order to enable all of his dialog lines. Had to cheat to force him to be killable too (and moderately smaller you know). I have tested Grunt (so far) with Anduniel, Ralya, Hel the Deathmaiden and Cerys an Craite i.e. with no issues at all.
good to know your experience with customization mods, I haven't anyone yet but possibly be adding one soon.
thanks for your input.
P.S. Do you have Vilja as follower? he is working well with Vilja??

Absolutely love the big lump. I have to laugh every time I come to a stop and he just hits the dirt for a quick power nap, makes sense seeing as how I've got SoSK - winter edition, so he should be hibernating.
The only issue I have is his size. Outdoors he keeps up with me no problem, indoors... that's a different story. He's got some pathing issues when it comes to some dungeons/caves, especially those with narrow halls/doors/bridges. So, kinda have to wait for him to "teleport" to me every once in a while. And gods help you if you've got any other followers with you, like say... Serana. There's some mighty small indoor locations in the Dawnguard questline and both of them together can show you what collision detection is all about.
just click on him, call cheat console and type: setscale 0.881 and ENTER.
save, reload and try that size. maybe still a little too big for having him into dungeons. Setscale 0.79 or less would be more fitting then.... but too small for that kind of bear if immersion is important for ya.

anyone has been able to join him with UFO followers mod?
I just have 2 options available when first meeting him: Stay and Hold this for me (well not exactly those words the 2nd) I dismissed Anduniel just in case she was the problem (Anna's NPCs followers mod) but still nothing.....
And he goes perfectly with my Berserker build and my ranger build \o/ on a side note, watching Grunt one-shot some bandits early on in legendary with Wildcat 10/10

EDIT: alright found him, a quite sneaky one I'd say
