Due to an unanticipated constraint that dictated that a Note could only have one texture assigned to it, my first attempt at double-sided Notes and Treasure Maps did not completely work. They displayed fine in the inventory but if dropped and read from the floor, would cause an instant crash to desktop. I have got round this constraint by keeping a single texture for every Note but making it RECTANGULAR. One half holds the front of the Note and the other half holds the back.
The 1_1 version contains NEW MESHES which work perfectly and are actually a little crisper on your screen than the previous ones as I have reduced the texture scaling through better UV Mapping.
Because it changes the mesh that the maps use as well as what is drawn on that mesh. If you have Book Covers Skyrim then this mod is embedded inside it already.
If all you want is the treasure maps and none of the other books, journals and notes, it should be possible to take BCS for SSE, unpack the BSA and then cull the majority of the unwanted items starting with SSEEDIT.
If you have the main Book Covers mod, you can delete this one as it is now embedded in there.
I have checked the mod in TES5EDIT and don't see any errors so I suggest you redownload and reinstall the mod if all you want is the treasure maps. I suspect that the mod is looking for the STATIC record that is referenced in the BOOK, Inventory Art field as it is the only lookup apart from the "treasure map" script and the ITMNoteUp sound.
See the lines that do work to see how it was structured.
I am glad they are appreciated. Remember that these maps are already included in Book Covers Skyrim providing you instal it using the With Notes option but for everyone else they should be an enjoyable addition.
I am glad I have sorted the blurriness - it was pretty awful.
The vanilla maps were originally a not totally unreasonable 480px or so high which would not have been too bad except for the fact that they were then squeezed down into a 290px space on the Note. That 290px was then re-stretched to fill your screen when you opened the treasure map which is why they looked so atrociously blurry.
These new textures are drawn directly onto the 1024x1024 Note and are only scaled once to your FOV viewing height.
I believe that the original artists who created the original treasure maps hand drew them and then scanned them. You can see the colouring that was left behind when they sampled and erased the paper colour from underneath. Treasure Map 02 was particularly obvious in this regard. There were thick white halo lines around the blue pen used. Since these new ones are drawn from scratch, I have been able to leave this problem behind. I have also been able to take advantage of Photoshop's Blend Modes to make the drawings sit directly onto the paper. There are places where you can see the paper texture through the ink, pencil or charcoal used.
The only map in which I have deviated significantly from the original is Treasure Map XII - Velehk Sain. The original was really not fit for purpose so I have presented the same information but in a restructured way. I also think that my statue in that one looks a lot less like Batman!
When I get to the Dragonborn Notes in the Book Covers Skyrim mod, I will of course be doing the Stahlrim Source Map and will be adding it to this mod as an optional download.
In case folks ask, the reason there is an ESP in this mod is that it is not a straight texture replacer. The old maps were a 290px image plastered over a plain Note. These just have a <p> character in the ESP but point to a new optimised mesh which has the new texture with the Note and Treasure Map combined.

Your textures are always fantastic!
