Does this work for Special Edition?

Not out-of-the-box. You'd have to convert it using Cathedral Assets Optimizer. That's what I did, I use it in Special Edition (after converting it of course)

The terrain noise from this mod is the best I have seen (and I've tried them ALL)...if your pc can't handle grass lod this is the next best thing.

Aside from ease of installation and possibly some performance, does this mod have ANY other advantages over DynDOLOD ? Because if not, thanks but nah.

what are you talking about ? its a 2013 uploaded file, I believe Dyndolod is like 2 years younger with the last version being uploaded in 2016. I think if you are using Dyndolod this will conflict with it anyway.

there are tons of advantages, what with it being stable and scriptless and all. DynDOLOD is a performance heavy nightmare in comparison to this easy fix

They are not mutually exclusive. DyndoLOD WILL improve the appearance of your distant terrain even with this installed.

Dyndolod doesn't effect terrain only objects and trees therefor you still need to generate terrain lod with lodgen or oscape or use a mod with generated with terrain lod. I might be wrong but Im pretty confident that my statement is correct.

This really is nice work. I do have a question though; what landscape/ground textures was this modeled after? What do you guys use/suggest. I'm currently using Noble Skyrim full pack, and the colors do not match up with this mod.

would this be compatible with a winter overhaul mod? like would the distant terrain be snowy in areas that were changed to snowy or would the mod conflict and display distant textures as warm while the up close ones would be snowy.

This seems a little odd to me. From atop a mountain, looking down at the terrain surrounding Whiterun, the terrain on one side of the road (closest to me) looks far less detailed than the terrain on the other side.

Is it supposed to be like this, or is there something wrong? The only visual mods I have installed right now are Optimized Vanilla Textures, Ruins Clutter Improved, Skyrim Distance Overhaul and SkyFalls + SkyMills.

Then again, is the mod supposed to only replace textures from that distance?
