The esp version adds some load to you mods list because the game can only load a finite number of esps. I never experienced any issue with it before though. Loose files or esl are always preferable.
I love this mod, however I discovered a problem when using other Conjuration spells. When killing something using my Bound Bow the game kept crashed to desktop. I tested around for a bit, uninstalling different mods and such, and came to the conclusion that this mod was the reason especially since after uninstalling it I have not had the problem since. I just thought I'd make you aware of this problem, considering it doesn't say anything on the mod page this is a problem. Still, really like the mod, tho since I'm a heavy Bound Weapon Build I cant use it, which is to bad cuz it's awesome!
Got a same issue here, but don't know why. Well I use the no-esp version and it just change the nif (I install it with MO).Now every time I read my saveslot it crash to desktop after 5 seconds. Uninstall it then it doesn't happen no more. But I really love this mod and hope it may work with my game. Wish somebody can figure it out the reason. Nice mod btw :)
thats not the issue with this mod it is an issue with the bound weapons itself when you install too many mods and you uninstall too many mods later the game will bug out with bound weapons causing you to CTD when equipping and killing with bound weapons
This is a great alternative! The only thing I wish was different would be to have the mesh be more dense when the animation starts out as to hide the suddenly appearing summon. Vanilla summons look great because they have their own summon animations (like the flame atronach twirling out of the ground), but custom summons look a little odd as they just suddenly appear. The vanilla purple orb masks this which makes it seem smoother. If by any chance you could try to make the mesh more dense during the first few seconds, that might solve the problem. It isn't really a big deal, but i'm just throwing my two cents in to improve this. Otherwise the concept seems better than vanilla. Thanks for the mod!
I guess you've still not implemented any kind of a fix? Just wanted to use this mod but looked at the video showcase (when it's Frost Atronach is being summoned), and it looks like vanilla purple ball is superior to the alternate version because it hides Atronach popping out of nowhere and falling to the ground..
I know it's been ages since the last post, but I was looking for a mod such as this. Does anyone know if there are any mods nowadays that expand upon this concept? (different effects for Daedric and Necromantic conjuration?)

Also thanks to everyone who has made videos for this mod! I didn't expect anyone to cover it so thank you!
Edit: I have stopped working on this mod for for a while in order to do work on new projects, sorry to those expecting updates!
It should work as-is, did you try it? You can also port it easily yourself with SSE NIF Optimizer.

I did it by downloading the non-esp version manually, and placing the file "summontargetfx.nif" under ".../Skyrim Special Edition/Data/meshes/magic"
The "magic" folder did not exist for me, you can simply create it.
