Which kind of fonts can you use in this mod? I don't mean swf or the other files. It's just as a zelda fan, I put a Skyward Sword Hylian font, but it didn't work, all I see when I read the books are rectangles and squares.
I know this is old, but I'm answering if anyone else has this issue. The .swf file needs to be named the exact name of the font, or it won't work. Open the .ttf file to see the name of the font.
Feel free to use it, if you'd like. But just so you know, it's apparently lacking in all sorts of characters, so you might be better off looking for the file and converting it (or whatever it is you have to do) yourself, that way you don't miss out on those different characters. That is, if the font has them to begin with. I can't really remember tbh.
Looking at it on dafont it looks like it has enough. For English at least. I don't think I have the time to support languages other than English anymore at any rate so it would be good enough.
Hey uh, this isn't working for me, please help. I was installing this because I installed skyrim halfsized, to increase performance. But getting the quartersized version makes book font illegible entirerly. I was told downloading a font would fix that, since it replaces the texture that quartersized overrid. But it's not working, ... at all.
I haven't actually even started Skyrim up in over a year, so I couldn't really say. But I did just remember something that might help: Either delete the replacement textures for the notes/books (the UI ones), or replace them with something higher res, like the mod linked in the description (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/937). Or whichever other replacer you prefer.
If you look at the screenshots for that mod, the fonts look crisper with the higher-res textures. Couldn't say why the rendering seems to be dependent on the texture size, but I suppose that's just how it works.
Thing is, it fixed it with another font, but that was unreadbale in it's own way. ... And uh I use mod manager, so that whole replaceing files thing is a no go with me. For a few reasons. 1: I can't afford to pay for winrar to unzip the files. 2: Even if I could, everytime I tried downloading it before, it gave me a virus. (The free trial version.) 3: Even if both of those weren't an issue, I just don't understand how to do it anyway. In any case, it's not like super majorly important, it's not like I haven't read the books 20 million times.
Ah, I see. Sorry, but I don't really know how else I could help.
You might want to look into getting 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/), though. It's free, handles most types of archives (including rars), and in my experience runs quite well.
Other than that, from what I can tell, it's likely that if you were to decide on just getting a replacement texture, it looks like the one I linked to is zipped in a way that whatever mod manager you're using could just be able to install it for you. Then again, I don't really know what's out there as far as Skyrim goes; I just know that from what I saw previously, they all seemed able to do that kind of thing.
But, yeah. Good luck getting things to work, if you decide to try again later.

Follow this:
Open the Alternate Book Fonts folder and then open the fontconfing.txt file;
Find these lines:
"$HandwrittenFont" = "SkyrimBooks_Handwritten_Bold" Normal
"$HandwrittenBold" = "SkyrimBooks_Handwritten_Bold" Normal
and write the name of the font you are using in front of these lines like this:
"$HandwrittenFont" = "datura" "SkyrimBooks_Handwritten_Bold" Normal
"$HandwrittenBold" = "datura" "SkyrimBooks_Handwritten_Bold" Normal
I'm using the datura font; if you are using another font, then write the name of your font.
Use the line "$SkyrimBooks" = "datura" Normal" as an example if you don't know the name of your font.
That's it.
