For anyone who stumbles upon this mod:
This mod will probably not be updated. It's been a long time since I've gotten any activity regarding it so I've moved on and probably won't pay much attention to it. If you leave a comment to report a bug or something, there's a high chance that I probably won't respond to it. As for people who want to improve it, I always like to operate on "give credit where credit is due" permissions, so as long as you credit me as the original mod author to this mod, feel free to do whatever. The source code is provided in the download so feel free to improve it.

    Peace

Hey JZBai, I noticed that you had fully open permissions on this awesome mod, so I converted it to Skyrim: Special Edition for players to easily find and enjoy there! Here's the link to the port: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/49362

Let me know if you'd like anything about the mod page changed! :D

Such a cool idea, but it doesn't play nice with Horses Revamped (or the other way around). The combo would cause weird issues like invisible horse, and eventually led to CTDs. I'm not surprised by this: they both add new animations. I had to axe it, but it's pretty cool.

This is a wonderful mod, thank you for making it, although unfortunately it isn't compatible with Convenient Horses in-game. Mod-wise, the two play well and my game runs just fine, but giving commands to my horse makes the horse rear, and inadvertently kick my character. This has caused all manner of fights; Esbern and an elk companion attacking an immortal, cowardly horse is such a pain to manage...

Also, my game will not run when the mod is uninstalled. When in-game, my saves load without any grief and all is well, but when I go into the NMM and uninstall, none of my saves (including those easily 10 to 15 from my latest) crash upon loading. When I use the NMM and install the mod again, my saves load just fine.

I don't have a problem with this mod and Convenient Horses.

Horsekick just stopped working for me. I am so bummed. I disconnected all recently added mods trying to track down the problem, and it still wouldn't work. Then I went further and unplugged every single mod I have (except this one) and put in a non-mod test character and though I get the "Horsekick is enabled" message, it just doesn't work. I know how to use it, I used it for several months now, it just stopped working.

EDIT: I like this mod so much that I removed Skyrim and all my mods and reinstalled the game. Before installing any other mods I tried just this again with vanilla Skyrim and...it didn't work. Color me stunned. How this is possible, I have no idea. If only it were something simple like "I forgot to activate it" but nope, clearly I'm cursed.

What a pity that this mod isn't being worked on anymore. It's a great idea and gives us more choice with our horses then mods like Convenient Horses that are all usually over powered and make the game easier then it already is. I've found that the best way to get what I want without the inventory and magical horse call horns and stat boosts and other madness is to pick and choose smaller mods and this is an excellent addition! I think that it's because of Conveniently-easy-game Horses that people didn't give this much attention (it already has a horse charge feature). People seem to like easy games with no reward in stamina, house ownership or Arvak. Why bother when your horse can carry everything and you can summon it anywhere with a stupid horn?

Complaints about other stupid horse mods aside, thank you for this. It is a great way to start a battle and take your enemy by surprise and it takes a fair amount more skill and timing then simply sprinting into your enemy. The only problem that I have with this is that the enemies then single out the horse to attack. They blame the horse instead of me, if you get what I mean. So even if I dismount and attack their backs they will carry on attacking my horse instead of me. It would be nice if the horse kick was viewed as an attack from my PC rather then from my horse. I wonder if making horses oblivious would solve this..

Anyway, thank you for this mod. Happily endorsed.

    Hi!
    Thanks for this great mod!
I think, I have found a problem, when using convenient horses mod, which is very common at many users, who like to ride horses:
When I use my horse to kill wolves, crabs and other tiny shits attacking me on my traveling, the basic loot option doesn't opens automaticaly the inventory of the killed enemy, and you have to dismount and loot them on foot.
Or it's just me having this problem?

Also, how about doing an animation for kick back?

It's not just you, it's a simple flaw in regards to how I scripted the mod. I forgot that Convenient Horses had an "auto-loot" option (I never use it since I prefer to get off my horse and loot as opposed to kill things and get bombarded with a bunch of auto-loot menus), so the horsekick doesn't cause the auto-loot menu to trigger. I'm not sure if I could fix it, I would really need to dig into Convenient Horses and figure out how it triggers the auto-loot menu. That's a bit outside my scripting skills. Sorry.

As for back kicks: Also a bit out of my scripting ability (I would probably need to get familiar with FNIS). In addition, I would need to make a totally new "back kick" animation for the horse which is complicated. Sorry again.

can you do a version that adds shield charge effects to a horse at full gallop and removes the attack when jumping(keep it when rearing but the jump isn't needed if shield charge happens when sprinting)

Hey mod author, I had a lot of fun with this mod, I may start to battle from horse, even though controls are really clumsy(not becasue of your ofc). I also included your mod in 3rd episode of my Skyrim Mods Weekly, I hope you will like it:

Hello misalen! Thank you for the feature.

Do you mind if I add the video into the "Videos" section of the mod page?

when i tried out this mod I could kick other npcs and enemies but instead of hurting them, they would just bounce away.

i tried putting it lower in my load order and instead of them bouncing away i bounced away from them when tried to horse kick.

    dunno what i broke rofl.

also i use convenient horses and requiem that adds a horse charge function to the game, but even with horse charge function turned on with one, the other, or both, the horse charge does not work. did once upon a time but sometime in the game it quit. duno if it's related.

Do the npcs/enemies bounce away like they do in the video I posted (like they were hit with unrelenting force shout)? If so, then I think the mod should be working. If not, then I'm not sure. :/

As for the Convenient Horses/Requiem horse charge feature, I've seen this problem happen before with my games even before I created this mod. I think this has something to do with the game's script latency and the number of scripted mods you're running. Convenient Horses comes with a feature in the MCM menu to test your script latency. If it's too high, then the horse charge feature might not work.

I wonder if it's possible to do just standing rear up attack? We already have some sort of charge-tramp attack from different horse mods, I know I know the more the merrier, but still there is something wrong in jumping on people's head, feel like mounted Mario))

And anyway - great idea! When I first saw rear up action in game I thought- "I can hit someone with hooves! no?!! wtf!!!"
