Please check the FYI section of the Description before posting a question.
Most common queries are covered there.

+ A hint to the secret storage location can be found at the very end of the description (between the spoiler tags).
+ Can't find/get in the bedroom? See the image in the FYI section of the desc.
+ Turn lights on by activating the chandeliers. Look for runes to toggle other lights.
+ NPCs will re-equip gear as they leave the pool area if the disrober is toggled on. Unfortunately the simple trick I used to accomplish this doesn't work on the PC.
+ Minor issue with the Linked Crafting: when opening the forge menu, all the recipes are greyed out - this is caused by having a lot of crafting materials in the chests: it takes time for it all to be transferred to your inventory, so it's not there in time for the initial check to see what you can forge. You can still forge whatever you want and it will correct itself after you forge the first item (as it will make the check again). I suppose I could put a long pause in before the crafting menu appears, but I think it's better without.
+ The DLC Addon SHOULD be used if you have the DLC, and must be installed together with the main file, it cannot be added later without a clean save (see Desc for details).
+ Hearthfire may or may not be incorporated sometime when/if I ever feel like it.

To use the Parallax version you need parallax textures for Markarth. I've included an optional file with these textures OR you can get them from parallax mods like PPR. You also need an ENB with the parallax fix enabled (or your textures will shift when you look at them). The parallax files I uploaded are the _p textures used by the Markarth meshes and the meshes of this mod, some I made myself and the rest are from PPR (uploaded here with permission).
A parallax-free version is available for those who don't use ENB.

Be sure to check the Changlog when updating to newer versions, there are sometimes special measures for updating.

    Note: the Sword-in-the-Stone charger/display still isn't perfect:
+ Always leave a weapon on display, or the activate prompt may not be there next time you come home.
+ The activate prompt may appear despite there already being a weapon on display; just remove that weapon first.

    SSE version HERE.

    ATTENTION:
I have THREE major events going on in my life at the moment.
I'll not go into details as I believe in keeping my private life just that: private.
This means that I will be unable to work on any of my mods for several months.
I'll still be checking in on comments once in a while, but any requests will have to wait.
I'll be back modding when some time opens up for me again.
Thank you for your patience and happy gaming!

Since discovering this amazing home, I've not used another home as my principle player base.  This home has literally EVERYTHING you could ever need, plus linked crafting, which is wonderful.  If other homes were designed like this one, I'd use them, but, alas, no.  As to getting lost, you need to take the time and effort to become accustomed to the layout.  Now, I never get lost.  The portal feature is simply fantastic.  You can even set up a custom portal wherever you want.  So much planning and deep thought went into the design of this home, other modders could take a lesson (or several) from this mod.  Even the elevator (a real, working elevator) is great.  And the short-cut to Blackreach is inspired!  The two "back doors", one to Arcwind Point and the other to the last area of the Dawnguard quest where the last part of "Lost to the Ages" plays out; that is, where you find the Aetherium forge, are a real treat.  And the Refuge spirit is convenient, charming and a little sad.

The only problem is that, after becoming accustomed to Aemer's Refuge, I'm now so spoiled with all the advanced features of this mod that I just can't get used to any other home.  The one and only feature that is missing here is some way to mount quest items to get them out of your backpack and onto a display wall, such as those three elder scrolls you end up with after Serana's quest.  Yes, I know, they don't add any extra weight, in spite of the weight reading, but still -- it's the idea that counts.  For quest items, I use the mod "Daedric Castle", which is, granted, an absolutely gorgeous design, but just doesn't have all the features of Aemer's.  So, thank you LeanWolf for desgining such an advanced and spectacular player home.  Best in the game!

Headcanon: Whenever the mannequins decide to move like they always do in Skyrim, I just assume it was just the spirit of the refuge  playing a prank on the Dragonborn.
    Absolutely love the mod btw.

Just wanna say that I fuckin' love this mod. I've always loved the idea of a vault where all the unique and legendary loot you get in the game can be stored, and the only other player home that I've found that actually has it (and isn't ugly as f*#@ or anything) is Sjel Blad Castle, and that mod is fucking ancient. I've been stuck with it regardless cus I love the idea of a vault that much, and the place runs so horribly now that I get a maximum 15 fps in the main hall and there's lighting bugs all over the damn place. Grateful to have a replacement that not only runs perfectly but also looks great. Another gripe I had with Sjel Blad was that it was just too goddamn big, it took forever to get anywhere without using the teleporting system that came with it. I actually much prefer the size of this place. Thanks for making such a great player home.

Anybody know where this follower disrober switch is supposed to be in the bath? There's a little triangle on the wall that will cause the PC to disrobe, but the followers do nothing. Nor does this switch act as a toggle at all. It just removes your clothing, if you have any on, when you press it.

What? No, the disrober is an actual lamp button on the wall, toggle it on or off. When on, it will disrobe anyone who enters the hot-tub or pool and re-clothe NPCs when the leave the room.

I just checked again, and there is no lamp on any wall. I'm in a room with a pool and a bath. Against a wall there are two chairs and when I move the cursor above one of the chairs I get a message to "activate disrober." When I activate, my armor comes off, but nothing happens to the followers. I put the armor back on, activate again and the same thing happens. So all it seems to do is remove clothes from the PC, and when I leave the room, nothing happens.

Then what I did was use the console to disable the wall behind the chairs. This exposed another wall, and on that wall was the same triangular-shaped rune that is used as an activator throughout the refuge.

I searched the rest of the room and saw nothing that looked like a lamp.

Ok - I figured things out. For some reason I had a 2015 version on my hard drive. I updated it to the most recent version of the mod and then could see the blue switch. Now when anyone enters the pools they disrobe, and followers get dressed again when they step on the first stair to leave the room.

Old version, well that would explain it. Keep an eye out for oddities, which can happen if you update from an old version on an active save (nothing serious though). If you do find something, you can just do a clean re-install.

I disabled and uninstalled the mod first, reinstalled the new one, then reloaded from an old save made prior to installation of the first one, so I assume everything will be OK.

Like the home by the way.

Fantastic player home & central portal hub. Love Dwemer architecture and this place is a great place to explore and transport to other parts of Skyrim. Please keep up the good work

Hello again! Still searching through the discussion thread, but is there another scenic mountain route to access Aemer's Refuge upper level entrance? [SPOILERS-I apologize] I have already discovered the nearby areas of Arcwind Point & Autumnwatch Tower, but not sure if I am ignoring another travel path. Thank you again for your work

No there is no path up to the terrace, I didn't want there to be. You can climb up from the back side fairly easily though.

Hi LeanWolf! Thanks for the feedback. Just wanted to confirm I was not acting stupid when exploring Recently discovered the secret vault and excellent work on creating it. Easily my favorite place to store the most dangerous items in all of Skyrim! Lastly the Refuge Spirit is a nice touch to the home. Love having a ghostly confidante/caretaker to assist my Dovahkiin. Thanks again for the hard work

Hjerim is like all the vanilla player homes, you get the key through vanilla means (buying the house, etc). Hjerim you can get without buying when doing the Blood on the Ice quest IIRC.
