had to look up windex (stupid european). I just recently visited a former roman fort (the border of roman civilation in the 10th century). they gave it up coz the alemanni kept them busy ha ha). there was a building I took for a bakery but it was actually used to gather & process urine.
Oddly they do have some kinda windex, or could make it. The first was made of vinegar and papers with black ink. Fruit wine or distilled wine that apple based worked really well also.
Maybe not the Nords, but the Romans had Windex. BS, you say? Well...what is Windex? Ammonia. The Romans used to extract ammonia from human urine, which they would use for all sorts of applications just as we do today. Because the collection of urine was a profitable exchange it was taxed. There is even a Latin proverb attributed to this, "pecunia non olet" (Lit." Money doesn't smell" [bad]). The story behind this is that a Roman Emperor's (I forget which one) son protested the tax as being vile. The Emperor the shoved coins in the lad's face, and asked him if the money smelled like urine, which of course it didn't. The meaning of the proverb is that money is still valuable no matter what its origin.
Looks nice Just wanted to add for lore / fact seekers that a clean cloth + water + a pinch of fireplace ash can make glass so clean you will wonder why you wasted money on cleaning products (it cleans glass faster/easier then most cleaner products! Basically light rub+wipe off = sparkling clean). So knowing this you can safely go for the clean version even if lore is very important to you!
for hearthfire houses, does anyone know if there are some scripts out there that allow you to "activate" the cases per say, like the dagger cases in the normal non-hearthfire houses? so, for example, if i want to place some clothes, jewelry, books, or other misc. objects that are able to fit inside the cases (like the paragons from dawnguard), i can just "activate" the spot i want it in and it'll place the objects neatly for me in the case. you know...instead of having them thrown all over the place by dropping them in the case and such and looking like crap...
