Beautiful sword. Was looking for something like this for along time - simple, yet elegant two-handed sword that is not too big. Shame that it doesn't have a proper scabbard, as I simply don't use swords without scabbards.

First and foremost, beautiful mod and sword, it is my favorite thus far on the Nexus. Now, my question. Earlier, I downloaded the mod manually in hopes of seeing the NIF files related to this mod, so that I could change the meshes and textures of the Nightingale Blade in order to have Glimmer be the weapon that shows rather than the Nightingale Blade itself. Is there a way to make this happen without the NIF Files? Essentially, I just want to replace the appearance and name of the Nightingale Blade with Glimmer rather than have the stand-alone Glimmer sword, is this possible? Thanks

It wouldn't work with me i'm sorry to report (in the SE). The game refused to load with this (or The Azincourt) installed.
      (i did check each individually)

I'll wait for a conversion. Which is a pity, this is a beautiful sword and a great mod.

Use the BSA exctractor to extract the files from the BSA and then place them manually. Then it will work.

Beautiful sword and scabbard. The sword reminds me of the one handed sword used by Eddard Stark in the very first episode of Game of Thrones. Thank you for this beautiful mod! Endorsed and kudos!

Beautiful sword. I could gush on about it, but to do so would only take away from the impact of those words. Well done.

    Great work!

Only point of criticism: the blade seams to be blunt or lets say not sharpened/no sharpening marks.

Both this and Azincourt are my favourite swords to play Skyrim with. They're just a must for me, so I have to really thank you for creating them!
The models and textures are perfect, even colours are good-lookin', and these sheaths... :O
About the designs of those blades, they are historically accurate as hell. I have to say that rounded grips, while being very confortable, are not helping in getting the correct hit angle as angular ones do, but it's actually nothing important after all. Everything is fine, I'd even say - briliant.

But, there is a little thing that bothers me, well: the swing speed. If you hold bastard/longsword with two hands, you actually will have advantage of swinging it really fast, esspecially when comparred to one handed grip. In my opinion, Two-Handed version should swing faster than One-Handed. The biggest advantage of one-handed swords is possibility to use something with them, such like shield, parrying dagger (other types of dual wield are useless in reality) or magic and staffs in Skyrim, so it would still be ballanced. I've tweaked it for myself some time ago, but just wanted to point it out.

Why two-handed grip is essential for bastard/longswords? Because you don't hold them with hands close to eachother. While main hand is close to the cross-guard, the second one actually holds the pommel. This type of grip extends the length between hands, what creates some kind of lever motion. You're putting your strength (not too much force, this is one of the least important things in fencing) by your main hand to direct the sword, while you use the other hand to pull the pimmel to another direction, which simply swings the blade to your target.
When you're holding a weapon, the more space between hands, the swifter swings you can do with less effort, but it's downside is reduced hit power.
As losing of power isn't nice, in real combat it doesn't change much after all, because you're not going to cleave trough your opponent or his defence, your goal is to deliver some quick and bloody cuts, which won't kill him instantly (the only way to instakill enemy is to decapitate him, which is very difficult and dangerous), but make him bleed out in short time. This requires speed, precision and skill; power is less important. But it doesn't mean that strength is useless. It can actually help you change direction in the middle of your swing if you notice that your opponent is going to evade or parry your attack.

Saddly, Skyrim has unreallistic sword animations (swing your blade in all directions, exposing yourself to easiest strikes from anything; people even wave their shields like morons, while they should still defend themselfes ) and there is no support for longswords/bastards, katanas... even greatswords are wrongly animated and ballanced! These ones are actually almost as fast in use as bastard swords, because they're not that heavy and bulky in real, especially with this extended grip on the blade - it's actually used to get your main hand on it when you're sacrificing range for speed in closer combat.

Many of you (the brave enough to read all of this) might think that I'm complaining, if you do - you're wrong. I really like Skyrim, especially with dozens of mods implemented to the game. I just want to let people know some things about swordsmanship. Why? Because it's one of the ways to IMPROVE this game, as allmost all moders do so. I have to say that I'm no expert - all I wrote here is what I've been gathering since I asked myself a question: "How does sword fighting look in real?". If you have red everything, then I have to thank you. Also, sorry for loads of borringness.
