Update: I was informed that the zip files were having an issue with having "extra" files included in them, which was particularly a problem for NMM users.

I'm on a Mac, and it seems the zip file was including Mac metadata that wouldn't be visible to a Mac user, but shows up as extra junk files for a PC user. I switched to a new Zip program, which is supposed to strip out all the Mac metadata, so hopefully this has fixed the issue.

My apologies to anyone who has had problems with my mod. I worked hard to make it as good as I could, and I don't want people to be put off by a file compression problem.

Thanks for all the kind comments and endorsements... I truly appreciate it.

Edit: Good news! The files have been fixed and everything is working properly. Thank you all for your patience.

Just realized that in my load order everything above the horizon is your work , cosmos, auroras and clouds and it looks really good. THX for the work.
    Happy Holidays.

Beautiful. But again notice that after installing this mod the day the sky becomes like glued together from individual parts. And in fashion, if you look closely can see that he glued very ignorant and see the place of inconsistencies.
In other respects, pleasing to the eye.

Yes Gamwich you have come a long way. I'm in the middle of optimising my next load out for Ultimate Deadly Combat aka Sands of Time and Elemental Dragons and have followed the SoT optimisation advice. So, I've needed to find all the texture optimisation mods I can to save as much Vram as possible. And among them all I'm happy to say all roads have lead to You. With all the gain I'll aquire useing some of your mods I'll be able to improve others with your mods and still have a net Vram gain by the looks of it. It's a one stop shop win/win. I'd like to say thank you for all the time and effort you've put into your mods. They vastly improve our Skyrim experience whether your going for optimisation or Beautification In case you'd like to know, I'll be useing One Mountain, BPT A/C, BPT A/C/W, Peltapalooza, Rugnarok at the very least. I'm likeing the Cosmos but, I don't know if it would play with Climates of Tamriel. I'm going to download and endorse anyway and Vibrant Auroras also. I'll giv'em a try. The pics are just so awesome I'd be a nut if I didn't lol

This was the first mod I ever downloaded. I never thought I would completely overhaul the rest of my textures from the same creator as this mod. You've come a long way since you first uploaded this retexture, Gamwich!

I certainly hope so. Since I had never made any game textures before The Cosmos, I had a LOT to learn.

I've tried many galaxy retextures, but this one's my favourite. Never wanted to replace it once I installed it. The nights in Skyrim are just so magical with it. And not without a heavy dejavu hit, because now Skyrim's sky reminds me of fantastic Shivering Isles' nights, which I truly adore in Oblivion. Thank you.

    Hello!
I've been using Neokore's 2k galaxy for a very long time because I was apprehensive about your much larger 4k galaxy, but whaddya know? It turns out that there's no difference in performance between the two resolutions and your galaxy is even more breathtaking than Neokore's!

Anyway, thanks a ton, Gamwich! I can't even play the game anymore because I'm too busy staring at the night sky with drool dripping out of the corner of my mouth~!

The galaxy is just a single texture (no normal map), and it's only loads once, since it's always present in the night sky. Therefore, if doesn't have that big an impact on performance, even in higher resolutions. I'm glad you like the result.

Have some problems with this mod.

So I install it normally (using Mod organiser). But there is no apparent change in the night sky. When I try to repeat the exact same procedure with another galaxy mod (enchanced night skies) I get the galaxy, even though the file structure seems the same when I look at them.
    (I've tried both versions avaiable)

The sample pictures look awsome though, so I would really want to use it.

It's a simple replacer with a single texture, so it shouldn't be that difficult to install. The only think I can think of, is if you have another mod that also has a galaxy replacer in it. Then, it's just a matter of load order. Place my mod after anything that affects the night sky.

Yes, there is something funny going on, however I solved it.

So I noticed that enhanced night sky worked when installed in the same way and placed in the same place in the load order.
What I did was take the Enhanced night sky mod, replaced the .dll file in it with the one from the cosmos mod, and then installed it as the enhanced night sky mod. It worked.

      Awsome galaxy. Mod endorsed.

Well. it's certainly brighter than Ethereal. It all depends on what you like. I'm glad that it works for you.

I have been really wanting a night sky mod that would give a similar feeling to the Shivering Isles night sky which I absolutely loved to bits, and this does it!!! When I finally have a new computer and can play again I'm endorsing!

My new Ethereal Cosmos mod is kinda a split between the realistic and the fantasy night sky. You might give that one a try as well.
