Interesting bit of obscure historical trivia: the reason witches and druids in real life chanted while brewing their potions was as much out of practicality as it was mystic ritualism. It was quite literally just to help them remember the ingredients and their proper amounts that went into their potions, tinctures, poultices, and so on. In societies that were largely pre-literate (the Germanic peoples) or outright forbade writing among non-members of the dominant religious order (various Celtic peoples such as the pagan Irish of old), this sort of thing was widely practiced among craftsmen, artisans, healers, alchemists, etc. likely for millennia before the rise of Rome.
This mod is easy to convert. You need the CK and a way to extract the BSA https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/974. Use that to extract the files from the BSA. You get a folder called scripts.
Take the esp (LearnAlchmeyFromRecipes.esp) and the scripts folder and put them in your data folder. Activate the esp. Use CK to open the esp and then just save it to update the esp to form 44.
That's it. If you want to use a mod manager then pack the esp and script folder in 7zip or WinRar and add that to your mod manager and active it like any other mod and update the esp using CK.
It works perfectly on my game and took less time to convert than it did to write these lines.
I'm working on a new mod for SSE to accomplish what this mod does for LE. Feedback is wanted before I finalize the mod though - so, if you see this and have input go here to provide feedback
You can read comments below to see that I ported the mod in 2017 but did not have full permission to do so. The new mod is coded in completely different way than this mod.
As far as I know, yes. I did not just copy this mod to mine - I'm pretty sure that as I incorporated all the recipes I came across the same mistakes he did and corrected them. Also, matching the unofficial patch. I'm not perfect though, so there very well could be errors in my mod(s). Let me know and I'll endeavor to fix it.
Just sent a PM to you NeoRunek asking permission to port this mod to SSE. I'm going to start working on it and will wait about a week to hear back from you. Will post here again with link when it's ready. Thanks
EDIT: my SSE version is unavailable until I get response from NeoRunek Sorry for any inconvenience.
Conversion, yes, but I also improved the mod which falls under the modification permissions which I have yet to receive. I talked with Nexus Moderator and that's where it is at - Have to get permission response from NeoRunek - If and when I do I'll upload it again.
You can't reupload to skyrim SE like others authors? A unoficial port? With the description saying you will put down if the author ask? I see a lot of good mods with this type of port in the SE. After all, the guy who created this is inactive since 2015. Please?
I did all that but I also went the next step and improved the mod for SSE which was not allowed. If someone else wants to do a direct conversion - by all means do so! I won't as the changes I made are essential to a SSE version in my opinion. I wouldn't feel comfortable with a mod that sort of works but is missing key parts of the game and I can never improve it. (until permissions change that is) That is where it is currently.
Jebbalon, in that context, I think that means you can't upload an improved version for the same game (LE) - because it would be a "rival" to the original mod, thus a explicit permission would be required. Uploading an improved version for a different game (SSE) should not require any additional permissions. As @angryglock mentioned, a raw port is pretty simple, but if you still have an improved SSE version, you should definitely share it, imho.
CACO is a huge overhaul, i'm using it right now and it's great, but I also need at least 12x CACO .esp (patches everywhere lol)... some players like to keep things simple, lightweight alternatives like "Learn Alchemy From Recipes" will always be welcome.
Moderators would have to sign off on that. I think it extends to SSE as well. If and when I find time I am thinking of making my own mod with this mod as inspiration. Would be similar function but coded completely different. Will take some time to get to it. I'd also run it by moderators to be sure I'm not stepping on any permissions. We'll see...
New mod is available on SSE as an alternative to this mod Alchemical Notes by Zuzer2123 Looks to be a bit different from this mod as it adds notes instead of using the in-game recipes. Give it a try on SSE if you are looking for alternative to LAFR
Is there any Chance this mod could be re-made / updated for SSE I used this all the time in my oldrim plays many thanks in advance whether this is or isnt possible
I cant seem to get the starting message OR find the book. The only mod that i have that changes books is the Book Covers Skyrim. I noticed your mod gave them multiple versions of recipes the v1-4 suffix but i never got the starting message. I have no idea whats not cuaing this not to activate. I even disbaled the book cover mod and stil cant get it to work. Please advise!
I am also using Skyrim SE. Could this be the issue?

Again if you are looking for this mod's functions in SSE - Check it out!

Can you send me your version in private for my personal use?
I appreciate.
