I'm not sure if this is updated anymore, but there are some issues.

first, the ward looks pathetic. why is it only the initial ward stage even on the master wards?

and second, the 1 second delay makes it unuseable in combat. by the time you get your sword up and the ward powers, the firebolt has already burned off your face. I realize that spellbreaker (from which this is most likely derived) works the same, but there have been mods that patch spellbreaker so it instantly casts its ward.

Can this spell be taught to any followers? It would be nice to give them a bit of defense from magic.

It will hopefully work for any class that is able to block with any weapon.

For some reason none of my followers will equip the ring and I can't learn the enchantment to give the followers a clothing item with the enchantment. So, I guess it's not quite what I'm looking for.

Awesome idea, its like Spellbreaker, but also on swords. Can you do the reverse as well? I mean, a Ward with Block effect would be great for mages.

Before I burn a perk point in ward absorb does that work with this? Btw I love this mod, such a great simple addition.

I haven't had this open in a VERY long time, "burn" your perk point, try it out and reload if it doesn't.

Since they're both essentially doing the same thing that's hardly surprising.

Hey this seems to be exactly the mod I have been looking for. I am playing as a mageblade/spellsword character and I find I often have ward in my offhand. My only curiosity is how exactly is the magicka use handled? I have a mod which effects magicka consumption so I only lose magicka when the spell is actively being targeted by a spell. Better Magic I think... Also I am using dual wield parrying. Do you think this would be compatible? I will probably just make several clean saves to revert to, but curious how you are using it. Thanks in advance for any info.

The magicka consumption is managed by an invisible background spell which gets activated at the same time as the ward. This spell then drains magicka over time till it gets removed (when the ward stops). So this is no "real" magicka drain and therefor can not be altered by any effects which change magicka consumption (Think of a disease which slowly uses up your magicka). The magicka usage of each ward is hardcoded, but the perks were taken into account to give the illusion of a "normal" drain.
So it is compatible with things that change magicka consumption but it will not be affected by it.
For dual wield parrying it depends. This mod simply checks if your character is blocking. If yes the effects get applied, if not they get removed/don't get applied. If dual wield parrying returns isblocking == 1 then it will work.
Since this uses vanilla detection it will most certainly not break anything, so in the very worst case it will simply not apply the ward while dual wield parrying.

Hope this helps. If not feel free to ask again^^'

btw it does work with dual wield parrying in case anyone unsure. Haven't tested if ward absorb also works or not, I'm guessing it doesn't though from the way it sounds setup.

It's been so long since touching this that I actually have no idea if the absorption perks work or not, let us know if/when you find out.

Very cool. This made me want a mod that would allow me to deflect projectiles and magic away with timed weapon attacks. I'm guessing that would be insanely difficult to make though.

It certainly would be, though I'm curious to see if something like this is even possible, really you'd be looking at something that functions entirely differently but gives the illusion that this is happening.
