F.A.Q. Here's a bunch of frequently asked questions (seriously, some of these gets asked every 2 posts) that should hopefully answer your questions before you decide to ask something that has already been answered (likely several times) before.
Q: What is the status of Hvergelmir's Armor Retexture - HAR A: I am currently working on and preparing the release of Hvergelmir's Iron Armory v3.0 (weapons and armor) with completely new techniques and tools in my disposal to create even better textures than ever before. To elaborate that, it'll eliminate the previous use of the vanilla normal map to "bake" a new one on top of the old and using said normal map to create misplaced shadows on the diffuse texture to give depth to the item. New normals are completely hand painted from scratch and so is the diffuse.
Q: What is the status of your previously promised armor quality variations? A: I'll try to incorporate some of the first versions into the next release of HAR.
Q: When is the next release of HAR? A: I cannot say at this given time.
Q: What is taking you so long?! A: Creating completely new high quality textures from scratch is very time consuming (and at times very frustrating as well, considering some of the often horrible meshes provided by Bethesda). I also have a life besides modding while often getting very little, to no appreciation at all - not to mention I am doing all this for free. In fact, I have so little time besides life and retexturing that I haven't even had the chance to beat the game yet (nor any of the quest lines) - that is how dedicated I am. And here you possibly thought I just sat around and did nothing...
Q: No, seriously... what is taking you so long. A: Okay, let's get personal. I am a perfectionist plus I got diagnosed Dysthymia a few years ago. That means it takes longer time for me than the average person to create each texture and quite often also longer time between as I have to "recharge my batteries". This is a problem I have to live with, probably for the rest of my life. But when all comes to all, it is really just me and only me who dictates the pace I work in accordance to my energy and mood.
Q: Automatic Variants? A: Well, to be honest - I don't know when Automatic Variants will feature the functionality to use different armor textures. So for that reason alone I'm not gonna work on armor textures for it just yet - also my own quality variations is of higher priority.
Q: Why don't you retexture higher tier armor RIGHT NOW?! A: Because I don't. I have explained this several times (even in the description). The reason is, you stumble across the lower tier armor all over the world of Skyrim ALL the time, whereas the higher tier armor are a much rarer sight. I am sorry that this doesn't work out with your personal preference, but I'd much rather have MOST of Skyrim is starting to look better rather than higher tier stuff that you won't even see until somewhere up in the lvl 40+ - and once you get there, most people use modded custom armor anyway. There ARE other NPC's wearing armor in the world of Skyrim than your OWN character - also another important factor is, that I learn and improve my work constantly, meaning once I actually get to higher tier armor, I'll provide the best of my ability and knowledge to give you the best textures ever. Not good enough for you? Not my problem and I could care less...
And all these years later, this is still my favorite and what I continue to use for my steel and fur armor textures (along with your shield retextures). Thank you again and hope all is well.
That's the most ignorant thing I've read in ages. Did you actually read the description or bother to take a glance at the textures? And not having actually downloaded the file, you don't get to "criticize" it this way.
I know this can be used for SSE, but does it work straight out of the box or does it require some tinkering first?
Also, dude I've suffered from pretty bad depression before so I know how shitty it can be. I really hope your Dysthymia gets better or least negligible (if it hasn't already).
It should be able to be used as is, I don't remember if there's a plugin attached, but if there is you may want to update it by opening and saving it in the CK.
Dysthymia is for the most part not as bad as depression. I cannot keep a normal 37h/w job (as it is here), but I'm not so far down as one normally gets with a depression. It's first when I get an actual depression (double depression) on top of it, which can happen, that things get really bad. I think most of the reason I'm unable to get things done, at least in regards to modding, gaming etc. is the pain I'm suffering from my shoulder, arm and back. It's still a big deal today, although I'm going through therapy for it. Thanks for the concern, glad you're out of yours :)
Iron, Steel and Bandit according to the loose files version of the file. It hasn't been undated in years. I don't think this person will ever finish the mod.

I read somewhere textures are compatible between LE and SSE.
