If you have a question you would like answered, I would very much appreciate you checking for an answer in the BOSS Userlist Manager FAQ before posting.

    INSTALLATION and SETTINGS

Before using BUM, you need to install and run BOSS for each game you have installed so that it creates the Masterlist files.

Install and run BOSS (BOSS and BUM are different programs)
Ensure you have installed BOSS and created the Masterlist.txt file for each Game on your system (by running BOSS) before using BUM.

The BOSS related files will be in the folder that you used to install BOSS.

The Mod Path is the Data folder in the game directory. For example...

    E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\ Data
    D:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\ Data

Normally, BUM will automatically detect the location of your games and the BOSS files providing the games and BOSS have been installed using their respective installers and BOSS has been run at least once for each game so that the Masterlist is created.

    GETTING STARTED

New users should take a look at these sections in the Help...

    - Getting Started ›› Rule basics, Recommendations #2
    - Getting Started ›› Creating Rules ›› The ADD Rule

    UPGRADING

Upgrading the BOSS Userlist Manager to newer versions...

    1. Install BUM into the same path as the previous BUM. This will overwrite the previous install files.
    2. Start BUM (do this from within MO if using MO).
    3. BUM will recognise the previous install config and will import it automatically. You should get a message confirming this.

As it says where you clicked to download the 7z file: "Extract this file to a temporary location and double-click Setup.exe"

it seems the new version is not working with Mod Organizer. The error I get is this:

Unable to inject the dll into "BOSS Userlist Manager.exe": failed to access thread context. Please note that Mod Organizer does not support 64bit binaries! The parameter is incorrect [87}.

Had no problem with BUM 6.7.2

I don't use MO so I can't perform any testing on this, but I have not made any changes with regard to 64/32-bit platforms. BUM and the Utility Library have always been configured to run on Any platform and by default installs in the Program Files (x86) folder, so I am reasonably sure that there are no 64-bit binaries.

Perhaps you should ask for help on the MO forum and see if someone with more knowledge than I have can provide any insight. If you learn of something I am able to do or change to provide MO compatibility, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate MO's requirements.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Just wanted to let you know that I have found a slight difference in the way the new version was compiled that causes it to run a 64-bit program on a 64-bit operating system.

I will release another version in the next day or so that has the "prefer 32-bit option" set, which should resolve the problem you experienced with MO.

Pardon me for bringing this old subject up, but I was for the first time setting up BOSS and linking it to Mod Organizer today. MO is a 32 bit - on my windows 7 setup - application, if you install the binaries for 64 and modify executables it won't recognize it. You need to point it instead towards the 32 bit application GUI or non GUI exe file instead. If you are using MO download the BOSS v2.32 boss.zip file. The EXE is in the bin folder under Release-32 or Release-64 either GUI version or non-user interface.

I finally did get it working with Mod Organizer. There are extra steps for many installations in MO and it can get confusing. I hope this helps someone in the future reading through for an answer.

Thanks for contributing, however, this is for the BOSS Userlist Manager and not BOSS, which is a different utility written by another author. I suggest you post on one of the BOSS related pages to bring your comments to the attention of BOSS users.

    Hi,

I'm running into a problem when using BOSS, namely it won't recognize my masterlist.
The file Masterlist.yaml is where it should be, Documents\Nexus Mod Manager\loot\Skyrim.
However Boss simply won't register it!
Could some one explain to me what's going wrong?

      Hi

Sounds like you are using LOOT, which is not BOSS.

This is the page for the BOSS Userlist Manager (BUM), which is not BOSS and does not work with LOOT.

      Hope this helps.

    Good morning.
Im trying to use BUM along Mod Organizer, but i think iam not doing it right...
Have you got any idea if it must run separate or within MO.?
Cause when I run BOSS via MO, isnt the same load order like BUM, wich only recognize this: Skyrim.esm Active and Bashed Patch, 0.esp.
    thx.

I don't use MO, but I understand that you need to run BUM from MO, otherwise, it will not see the correct mods you are using.

Perhaps someone else who is doing this can tell you more.

No it must be added to MO via the executable icon into the toolbar and then run through the dropdown next to the Run button. As a rule of thumb anything that needs to see your mods has to be run through MO.

Did you look at the sticky post above...

Before using BUM, you need to install and run BOSS for each game you have installed so that it creates the Masterlist files.

Install and run BOSS (BOSS and BUM are different programs)
