To move into a custom home: - Visit the (custom) home and cast the "Bless Home" spell while there. If the home is blessed, it will become your new custom home. - Now talk to your spouse or your children and move your family to the new home. - You can also directly adopt kids to the new home.
How to manually change the last name: 1. Open Tes5Edit 2. Right click the mod list; click: select none 3. locate the lastname esp and select it and click ok to load; wait until loading is finished. 4. Open up the lastname esp in the tree on the left; open up the message sub tree; it should contain 6 messages; 1 for each kid. 5. select a message. 6. in the right view right click the full name field that says something like: "<Alias.ShortName=Child1> Dovahkiir"; the first time you do this you get a warning dialog that tells you this can be dangerous; just click ok. 7. edit the last part of the name; so replace Dovahkiir with whatever last name you want; leave the first part in place or the kids will lose their first name. 8. click ok when done. 9. repeat 5-8 for all 6 messages. 10 close the application. When closing the application you will be asked to save modified esps. Be sure that only the lastname esp is checked and then confirm.
You may have to move the kids around for the new last name to be picked up.
Accidentally posted this in the SE version instead of here: I'm having issues with adoption past two children. I installed this when I only had one child. I used bless this home, and the kid moved over to Aspen Manor with no issue. Second child adoption had no problem. With the third child, the dialog option to adopt the kid is present, but once they agree, they just start saying "yes" or "can I help you." I can't interact with them after unless I add them to the adoptable faction. I ran the console commands suggested with no success. I'm wondering if it's a mod conflict, and I can send my load order if needed. I've tried messing with the load order myself, and I couldn't fix it. Any help would be appreciated!
I have a problem where I have the same kid adopted twice. Hrefna was available for adoption when her mom died during a dragon attack. This was while still at Darkwater. I told her I would adopt her and she says she had to prepare. I leave and she never shows up at home. I check Darkwater and she's not there. I then go to Honorhall and find her there. She has the adoption option again as if I hadn't adopted her in Darkwater and so I adopt her and then she goes home. Only she is listed twice in the list when I check the quest variables in console. Her refid occupies slots five and six. I want to adopt Sissel but can't because the game thinks I've adopted 6 when I only have 5.
That's unfortunately a bug with the base adoption system. kids that are orphaned during the game should only be adopted after they arrive at Honorhall. Only way I can recommend fixing it would be to go back to a save before you tried adopting her...
Hello and thank you for this mod. Is there anyway to ass SpringWood estate to the list? it has six beds, I can bless the home.. it says there is no available place for a baby to turn into a child here. I am using Fertility mode in skyrm vr. Its really too bad since I wanted to have Christmas for the kids. Does tis only work if I adopt a child that I didnt have myself?
any advice on how to make this mod work? I used to use this mod with no issues a few years ago but I just started to get back into skyrim and now I cannot get it to work for the life of me!! I have it low on load order even trying up to the last slot I removed all other mods that added other kid interactions such as adding elf/orc/etc kids. I do have rsse overhaul but that never mattered before. Anytime I enable this mod in vortex and then do the load order in game it won't open again. I used the home "lake haven" so I wanted to be able to bless the home but I can't load in at all with it in? I am not sure what I'm doing wrong because most of my mods are purely graphic-related or things such as the unofficial update. I have skse on steam as well.
Make sure both esp files are active. Vortex had/has the tendency to only activate the optional one... That might be causing issues...
If the game is not launching at all that might be a translation issue. Which language are you using? You could try the untranslated esp (overwrite the normal one)
It's part of the main mod; Check that both the mod files are active and in case you are not using English, it may be translated into your language, so search for something like "Bless Home" in the chosen language in that case.
Not sure if this has been an issue for anyone else. But the kid i adopted isnt going home. They are just walking around the same location i found then saying they cant wait. Is there a fix for this?
Which kid? Some kids have other activities that eventually stop and they will then move, but in my testing this can sometimes take a long time, especially if your game is busy with lots of other things (more so with loads of mods).
Best advice is to be elsewhere for a while and do a few quests far from the target home and the kid in question. See if they show up at the home after that.

Running LOTD & HMA (Hearthfire etc.), using the Safehouse with the children's room active.
"Bless Home" not available in spell list and on approaching orphans, the only reply option to "Do you have a home" is "No, I don't."
Running the console "Help "Bless Home" " returns no positive result.
Re-installed HMA, no change in results.
Thoughts, etc?
