    This mod doesn't solve the basic problem of Mage or Mana Shield Spell: U HAVE TO INVEST ENOUGH IN HEALTH TO NOT GET ONE-SHOTTED. In other words, this mod is a Super Fast Healing Spell (almost instantly) but u still gona die if Damage >= Health.
    Anyway, i'm still waiting for the improvement !

      You are absolutely correct about the flaw this mod has, and sadly there is no way to fix it. There is no amount of time I can apply to update events to catch the player before they die from getting one-shotted. This goes for getting cut-scene deathblows as well. Trying to fix this would:
      a. Turn off all cut-scene deathblows
      b. Have the game poll for an update every millisecond, which might fix the problem in most cases (not all cases), but it would make the game unplayable and make other scripts fail to fire off because mine would be hogging the papyrus vm.

      My thoughts would be try to pick your battles ;)
      Fun Fact: Diablo 1 also has a bug with this spell, where if the player is one-shotted, the mana shield would prevent the player from dying, but all negative status effects would have to be dispelled, death being one of those effects.

      Thks for your reply. I searched for the ManaShield script on site then I've seen your old post on some forums, I can see you have tried to fix that flaw but sadly no luck Anyway, thks u again. Still hope that someday an epic Mana Shield may come to Skyrim :3

      Maybe they will make a Pre-Death() event in the next elder scrolls. If so, the possibilities will be endless. Thank you for the interest and sorry for the annoying exception to this spell!

      @TripleSixes !!! Can I use your script to make a new Mana Shield Spell ? Ofcourse I will credit you as the original author of the script and the way that the mod works. My project is about 80% finished, now I just need your permission. And if possible, can I have your source scripts too? I may wanna tweak it a bit. But it's okay if you will uncomfortable to give the source files, just the srcipt permission is enough for me. Dear:3

    This spell works great with perkus maximus if you're a squishy mage of any kind. You still need to invest in enough health to not get one-shotted but other than that you can really dedicate yourself into a pure mage build. It doesn't need any scaling because enchantments prodive additional magicka and regen. Endorsed.

      Just a suggestion: maybe you could add a non-hostile unrelenting force-type explsion when all magicka is depleted and the magicka shield is active?

      It would kind of make this like Skyrim's version of quen from The Witcher.

    this spell has no scaling so its the same for 15 skill as it is for 100, the cost is much more than it is to just heal, the 33% resist is useless once you get iron flesh. it take damage from health so that means the Difficulty modifier is getting applied to how much magicka you lose per hit unlike armor witch apples Difficulty modifier after damage resist.

    Hi there! I love the idea of a mana shield; I played an Enchantress in multiplayer HC on and off for several years! I was playing with this mod a little bit today, and I noticed that when I get hit, it seems as though the damage affects my health first before it gets automatically healed from my magicka pool.

    What I was wondering is: If I have base health for instance (deciding to be cheeky and spend no levelups on health) but a fairly beefy magicka pool of say 300 or so, will an attack that deals like, 110 damage effectively bypass the shield and kill me before the shield can transfer health over? Like, if an enemy has the potential to lock me into a killmove because their attack deals more damage than my health, will it ignore the magicka transference and killmove me?

    Not a big deal either way, but I just thought I'd ask.

      Still working on this, Sadly I cannot find a way to get it to damage the Magicka pool immediately instead of Health. An attack that would do 110 damage will inevitably kill the actor at this point and time. If I figure out a way to achieve this, I will update this mod for sure

      does this spell need the player to take health damage to work?
      i tested it and it does need you to take health damage so the only way to keep from getting 1 shot is to give a health boost.

    Hello! I downloaded the file and put the ESP and PEX files into my Data folder in the Skyrim folder. I found the book from Belethor and I can cast it and everything. The problem is when I get hit, the 33% damage reduction seems to be there but it doesn't take any mana. The damage goes straight to life. Have I made a mistake somewhere or is there a fix for this particular problem?

      Since there is no way to make the damage deduct straight from the Magicka pool, I have to take the difference in HP between half second updates. If I make it any quicker of an update, you may experience some script-induced lag. Is the Magicka pool being affected at all during the duration of the spell?

      It's not being affected at all when someone hits me with physical or magical damage. The only time the mana goes down is when I initially cast the spell. After that the mana doesn't move.

      I just tried this load order on my end, and it worked just fine. My only remaining bit of advice at this point is to try a clean save.

      Poop... Is there any possibility you can think of anything else? This is the only mod I've installed because I think it's perfect for my mage! Not unbalanced or anything. It drives me nuts that it works for other people but not me! Lol.
      Perhaps there's a possibility of using TeamViewer? Maybe you can find out what's wrong on my end?

      We could do that, but let me exhaust all options first. Did you manually install, or use the NMM?

      I manually installed it. I downloaded the file and moved the ESP and PEX files into the Data folder myself from the zip file. Is that bad?

      The .pex file is in your "skyrim/data" folder? Try moving it into the "skyrim/data/scripts" folder and see if that remedies your situation

      Omg, I'm such a noob. It's like saying the TV doesn't work and then finding out it's not plugged in. :/

    Just stumbled on this mod, and I dont think you realize its potential! This mod is the missing ingredient for EVERY UNarmored and UNarmed monk mod out there! Every unarmored mod basically means you will be wearing clothes, clothes that lack enchantments. With this mod you can finally wear mage robes and hoods etc. and they will benefit you!


    I am not much of a modder (i basically make my own mods) but I would love your permission to make a monk mod with this, or to let more talented modders than me make a monk mod. THIS MOD IS AMAZING!

    I would have no issue with creating those versions, but I am trying to get my main mod into it's beta stage. I haven't been focusing on anything else really. Once I have time, i will try to get to making those alternate versions.
