Complimenti!!!
To my understanding the metal hump in the middle of the shield was expensive as far as shields went in the middles ages, typically only Kings had them/could afford them on their shields.
The shield boss was on practically every shield and had to be large enough to permit a warrior to comfortably grasp the hand grip, and move the shield from side to side. Shield bosses are hammered into shape from a single piece of metal, so it isn't an expensive piece of equipment.
Yeah, I have to agree with TheCelticWarlord. The shield boss was very commonplace. They are cheap and easy to make (if you know the craft), so they weren't very expensive to include with the shields back then. You can even buy them for cheap nowadays too if you want to build your own period shield. You may be thinking of the sword. Most warriors used an axe back then. Swords were normally carried only by the wealthy or those privileged enough to own one (or find one on the battlefield).

A massive colab between Jedo Dre's, brigandage, Vaultmans Extended (everything in there), and this, is much needed
