    End of Support Note

By now I have felt obligated to support/update my mod due to its popularity, but lately it's becoming more a burden than fun, as I'm no longer playing skyrim, too many games not enough time. Now isoku has introduced iNeed, I'm sure isoku will take care of all the needs in no time, so I believe it's time for me and my mod to retire. There will be no more updates.

I'd like to take this chance to thank everyone who played and endorsed my mods. Both of my mods (RND and my Inns) are now in the public domain, if you find anything useful that you want to reuse in your own mod, help yourself, no need to ask permission.

    TROUBLESHOOTING
I'll try to keep this short..:3

If you come here to report "nothing works",
Please double check that you actually started the mod.
To start the mod in game, open MCM menu, click "Start RN&", See this screenshot
    http://static-2.nexusmods.com/15/mods/110/images/26228-1-1361341562.jpg

CTD at game start is always caused by missing masters or incorrect load order, e.g. loading a patch without or before its master, please only install patches for DLC/Mods you do have, and use BOSS to sort your load order.

    1 I can't refill bottle/waterskins in the river.
To refill bottles/waterskins, you must stand in water, then click the empty bottle. If you're using Pure Waters, please install the patch included in the main package, and make sure the patch loads after the water esp. If you use W.A.T.E.R or Realistic Water Two, please be sure to install the RND compatible versions. If you use Green water fix, please update to v2.

2 Some food items do not satisfy hunger/thirst.
Please make sure this mod loads after any other mods that modify vanilla food. All food items should have eating/drinking effects in their descriptions, "filling meal", "light snack", etc.

3 I was suddenly teleported to xxx after refilling bottles in a river.
This is a weird animation bug happening to some people, the cause is unknown so far. If it happens to you, please simply toggle off Refill animation to avoid this problem.

4 My character is stuck with the drunk animation.
If you can't move, switch to first person, or try to jump so you can move. You can then find a bed and sleep it off. Or you can try the hangover remedy, there are two types of herbal tea, one of them is labelled "hangover remedy", drink one while the mod is running will surely fix the animation.

5 I have installed drinking fountains, but it doesn't work.
First, please double check that you have installed the patch, and the load order looks like this
    -Drinking Fountains of Skyrim.esp
    -RealisticNeedsandDiseases.esp
    -RND_DrinkingFountains-Patch.esp
If everything looks good but still not working, please
-1 deactivate both Drinking Fountains of Skyrim.esp and RND_DrinkingFountains-Patch.esp
-2 start game, make sure fountains are gone, make a clean save, quit game
-3 reactivate both Drinking Fountains of Skyrim.esp and RND_DrinkingFountains-Patch.esp
To ensure success, the key is to deactivate and reactivate 2 esps at the same time, activating the fountains first then loading the patch later won't work. This should fix the fountains.

6 My character suffers sleep disorder.
Please check for disease effects first if your character can't get rested. Disease Fatigue, if enabled, you will get tired more quickly, also can't sleep well when diseased. You can disable this option in MCM if you don't like it.

7 My skill doesn't advance after reading a skill book or pay for training.
Find a bed and rest up. Don't go training while tired, and remember to pick up the skill book so you can read it later, you need this one, Sometimes Pick Up Books http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32592/

8 RND has vanished from MCM menu.
-Please make sure you have the latest version of SKSE and SkyUI
-Sometimes it takes a while for a mod to register in SkyUI, this is a SkyUI issue, and a random issue happening to some people
-One thing you can try, is to restart the configure quest in RND, it might or might not help,
in console, type "StopQuest RNDConfigQuest", then "StartQuest RNDConfigQuest", this worked for a few people, but it might just be a coincidence after a save-reload :3

      Q & A:

1 How do I switch from the standard version to merged esp?

The merged esp = main rnd esp + 3 dlc patches + USKP patch, so it replaces those 5 esps,

To use the merged esp, just remove all 4 patch esps, drop the merged esp in your data folder, it will overwrite the standard version of RealisticNeedsandDiseases.esp. Please be sure to keep the BSA file, both standard and merged plugins share the same RealisticNeedsandDiseases.bsa. Then sort the load order again to make sure it's correct, rebuild bashed patch if you use wrye bash, and load your game. The mod will take care of itself. Be sure to have a good save before switching though, just in case.

2 Where should I place RND_AnimalLoot.esp in the load order?

You can simply put it after RealisticNeedsandDiseases.esp. Please make sure it goes before RND_HearthFires-Patch.esp, if you have hearthfire, otherwise the goats might lose their horns. But it won't matter if you use wrye bash to merge leveled lists. Bash Tags: Delev/Relev

3 The water patch in this mod caused the water splash effect to disappear. Is there a fix?

Unfortunately, nope. And I don't think it's within my ability to fix this, without changing the method used in this mod for water detection. The current method is the most reliable to be honest. Personally, the splash effect is not that important, as I play this mod with frostfall, I don't go playing with water and risk freezing to death. But if you do enjoy the splash, you can simply install this mod without the water patch. You won't be able to refill bottles in rivers, but there're still plenty of ways to obtain drinking water without the river, inns, drinking fountains, wells, some waterfalls will work too.

Since I'm new to the mod, one question I've had is how to get the spoiled junk.  Does it require enabling food spoilage and any food in player inventory will eventually progress toward becoming spoiled junk?  All I've ever found is stale/rotten food with food spoilage disabled.  If getting spoiled junk requires enabling food spoilage, this wasn't clear from the description (at least for me).

Also, from searching comments, it seems there is some confusion about how to collect mold and rotten flesh from spoiled junk without experiencing negative side-effects.  From these comments it seems people were clicking the spoiled junk in their inventory and then getting stacking negative effects (as I did initially as well from testing spoiled junk I artificially added to my inventory).  But to avoid these negative effects, all you need do is highlight it in the inventory and click "B" (or whatever your "Drink from stream" hotkey is).  That'll result in 25% chance of gathering mold/rotten flesh without harm.  Hopefully, this helps any new players who may be confused by this.

I think i have found a bug. Try to drink seawater when you are riding a horse (save game before!). My character immediately stand up on the horse, start coughing and got stuck in this position for good. My game is heavily modded though, so this needs confirmation from other players.

I ran into this too.  Trying to refill my waterskin while in water and on horseback.  I realize how old this post is I'm replying to but it's the first thing I found noting the issue and if anyone is still playing using this mod, the solution I found is indicated or at least hinted at in the pinned comments from the mod author.

For me, the fix was, basically in the RND MCM -> Toggles.  Turn off the Refill Bottle animation toggle.  That stopped this from occurring for me when refilling a waterskin on horseback.  Obviously, another solution is not to refill from horseback.  Also, toggling off refill bottle animation doesn't fix the issue for me if I've already gotten stuck like this.  But it does prevent it from happening.

Here's a few tips for people who are:

    a. Unable to drink from water sources (using the 'B' key) and/or
    b. Unable to fill empty bottles in your inventory by consuming (clicking on them)

    Possible reasons:

THE CONTROLLING SPELL ISN'T TRIGGERING FOR WHATEVER REASON:

Both of the actions mentioned above (drink & fill) are controlled by spells and scripts attached to their magic effects which have certain conditions that must be met:

    1. RND must be running, i.e. RND_State global variable must be 1. You can check it using the command 'help RND_State 3'.
    2. IsInDangerousWater must be true (i.e. you should stand in water, player.IsInDangerousWater console command must return 1 if that's indeed the case).

Another possibility, the Cast script command may not be working and the associated spell isn't firing. Although, if the status key ('N') is working then this is not the issue.

    THERE IS A MOD CONFLICT:

You may have a mod that modifies the water or the water type you are standing in, either a water mod, or something related, which causes the magic effect condition (IsInDangerousWater) to fail and the magic effect as well as the script attached to it fail to trigger. A good example for this, if you have Bathing in Skyrim for instance and have disabled the "Bathing requires water" option on its MCM then you will run into both of these problems (i.e. won't be able to drink or fill bottles). You must re-enable that option,
only then RND will function properly.

    Hello Anyone still using this,
I've just installed this  on sse it was ported by creatox, but there isnt a posting tab on there,  so I'm asking here, when I first loaded in, there was a bunch of messages pop up, not realizing what mod they were from , thinking it was from a cooking  mod, I did what I could to quit the messages, the later realized it was rnd, ..
But going thru all my mcm mods on Rnd mcm is missing the widget tab, and the widgets are stuck up in the left corner over my time icon thing , with no way to move the rdn widgets ??
I saw in the mcm, the turn on setting , c so clicked on that, little start message scrolled by, and one saying widget added, but still no widget tab in mcm
I like using this , but would to be able move the widgets somewhere else on screen, ???
Does anyone have any idea ?
Also I use legacy mod, and realized I didn't have that patch have downloaded it ,

This mod works for what it was made for, but... It ends up being a mod that takes away the immersion grace from my point of view, example:
-It doesn't have notification icons, you have to keep opening the powers panel to see what new disease you have (every time, every moment) In 20 minutes of the game while I was manipulating the smithy and creating leather in one of the bandit mines I ended up contracting I think no less than 7 diseases, since it was a new game I had no place to get food other than the "new" rancid food. or for less immersive than having to leave the mine, forcing me to have to go to Riverwood, (which I really didn't feel like going and being able to be further away from "civilization" but it is impossible without being able to at least get salt), buy food and return to the mine to continue collecting what was there.. Obviously, the money was not enough to buy enough food and drink that I needed to travel to Riverwood and return to the mine and contract, I think, no less than 4 diseases. (Do not use this mod of needs whit mods that also change and lower the amount of gold and items that appear)
-It does not have access hotkeys to eat or drink, you have to be opening the inventory every moment to eat something. and if the mod have them I never found it. (don't bother to tell me, I'm not going to use this mod)
-Change the lists of appearance of food and vegetables in all barrels, bags containers , etc., without exceptions, so you will never find any more food, example: tomatoes, leeks, potatoes, cheeses, all that appears now are vegetables that are either rancid or rotten, I think it's great, there can't be decent food in a dungeon with undead walking around, but why not in towns?. the vendors continue to sell the same amount of vanilla vegetables, salt and others things, that's right It's impossible to make enough food to satisfy the mod's needs, (It is correct as I said, it is impossible to satisfy the needs of the mod, not mine as a player). and you probably won't be able to buy anything from any other merchant since you won't get enough money for buying that food.

conclusion: Although the mod is very good, I end up feeling that more than a needs mod ends up being a dependency mod on the mod itself. there is other mod much mor simple like this one, can be very simpler (since it doesn't make the character sick with so many countless diseases) and if he has diseases I really haven't managed to discover them because it is not a mod designed to contract diseases just by standing still, is designed for needs such as eating, drinking and sleeping, but it is easier to carry since you never have to open the MCM or the item/powers menu again since it has icons that show the level of needs and has access keys, animations. I don't know, I think the difference is very noticeable.
I liked the idea that you could get sick from drinking water from a river and that it had animation, I found it funny that I can fill a bottle from a river and it is clean.
It's certainly not recommended to use this mod with skyrimsoul, you probably won't survive reading a book.

thanks for making your mod and share it. endorsed, but it's not my type of mod to play in skyrim

I have been using this mod for 5 years straight, it worked then and it works now. Even though I don't have this version installed anymore, I was using it a month ago and it worked like it was supposed to. You probably committed a plethora of mistakes when installing this mod, like not using a mod manager to install a big mod like this one (especially one that comes with a FOMOD) or an unsorted load order (Use LOOT for that) or incompatibilities with another mod that changes the same records and files. I've also noticed that a common mistake among newbie modders (specifically from the Special Edition version): installing an LE mod to their SE game, that could also be the cause of your game breaking.

In the miraculous case that you did not commit the latter mistake, use this version of RND instead: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/75876   That is if you're using USLEEP at all, if not, stick to this version right here.

I wish there was an optional file for 'just' the shrines cure diseases option (with Wintersun compatibility). That's really the only thing I want from this mod, but I can't find it anywhere else on the site, except for a couple of old ones that, again, conflict with Wintersun.

I was very happy with this MOD, especially the item if you don't have SkyUi (and MCM). Everything works great.

And I find it even more amazing how it makes you a beggar, digging through barrels for materials and taking whatever food you find.

Is there a way to undo the customize food option if you made the wrong choice? For example, if you accidentally labeled bread as alcohol, can you clear it and try again, or are you stuck with it forever?

I also figured reinstalling it would work, but even after deleting the archive, it seems to remember all of my settings. Shouldn't there be a way to delete all of the history and then put it back in as if it's the first time I'm using it?
