I think you would have to create a new object in the Creation Kit and assign your new textures to that object (see comment below by me)
It's been a while since I've used the Kit so I'm just going off the top of my head.
It would be a bit of work for sure. And then you have to place instances of the new object - more work, etc.
Honestly, it's your mod. Your Skyrim. Make it the way you want it to be. If you want to replace my map, it's fine. Like I said, it's your game experience. The point is for you to enjoy it in the way you want and that is best for you.
Awesome mod, but I have a quick question. If I use your mod as a base to create one of my own, a retexture, how do I set it up in a way that it does not override your own. Id like to make a map\photo that people can use in their homes but not replace the base maps, or your map. Thanks for any advice.
The maps are a little off.. I use a mod where I teleport to a huge room where I stand on a map. And where ever I am standing ON that map, if I cast my teleport spell again. I teleport to that current location.. The locations on these maps are a little off compared to vanilla. :c Other then that, it's nice if you just want a high detailed map on a wall.
The mod should affect all objects that use the modified textures. It does not modify any objects themselves, only textures used.
For example, I have The Asteria Player Home mod installed alongside this mod. In the Master Bedroom, there is a map of Skyrim. It now uses the new map as seen in Farengar's lab.

...but the second map needs some more treatments.
maybe a bit more dirty, or aging...i don't know...like the first one.
