Partly like this quite a bit, but then it also feels a tad incomplete, as if a good starter for more that could have been. Don't like that everyone is brown faced, there is facetint for the NPCs but no facegeom, I guess with them being incomplete is the result of all of them putting mud on their faces. Love the additions to Solitude best, they fit right in and in spots that have just enough room for those buildings. I like the argonian fishing community outside of Windhelm, giving them more presence around the city, though a minor issue is one of the shacks floor is too high and the argonian living in there can't get in or out because the doorway is too short. And everything else for each of the other locations from the choices of businesses and sheds and bits of farm, all make sense, such as the apple farmer in Rorikstead, looks good there too in that spot and the expanded farm behind the inn is perfect, additions of stables and various other real world necessities, loving Rorikstead and Ivarstead, though lack of compatibility such as the bakery in Ivarstead being where Arthmoor put a home for Lynly makes it difficult to decide which mod I want. The ones outside of Whiterun are good such as having the person that makes the horseshoes near the stable, and that there's someone that does laundry, though the large space feels it could have had more where those few small houses are. The Herbwitch lady outside of Whiterun stays in her garden behind her house, never moves, stands in the same spot all day and night, and there's no navmesh for the horse behind the mead tavern, as such it won't go in, stays behind or to the side of the stable. There's a fish net in Kynesgrove that is in a shed too small for it as such it is half in and half out going through the side of the wall.
Issues are minor though, what is here in this mod are great additions, though sadly don't really play nice with other village additions, as such I had to make sure to disable the ones that I had (Arthmoor overhauls for Darkwater Crossing, Kynesgrove, Rorikstead, and Dragon Bridge, as well as I had a Solitude dock overhaul that I forgot to disable and had some minor bits of stuff conflicting) just so that there wasn't overlap which is too bad, but it happens and certainly when one wants too much, more than one mod at any given location could be conflicting almost surely, but for simplicity it works great if you don't use any other mods for those locations and like anything, also depends on what you want.
If anyone is here in 2021. I have received permission from Nernie to convert this to SSE and upload it. I'll be doing it this week.

I know it's been a few months, but if you're still willing to port this, I'd be interested in downloading it. This is still my favorite village expansion mod after all these years!
I last posted five years ago and I still use this, the thief pack, and ranger pack on every playthrough. No town overhaul has come close to the charm this has. All the variety of shops....the shoe cobbler, instrument shop, and even a cartwright. I fixed some brown faces here and there but that's so minor compared to the huge immersion packed in this mod. Love all your mods. Thank you again.
This mod is pretty cool in concept but ultimately feels awkward in a game like Skyrim where most of the interesting stuff happens in cities. This mod adds housing including taverns, blacksmiths, etc around cities to effectively expand them, but there never feels like there's a good reason to enter them as none of the NPCs have anything interesting to say apart from default dialogue, so you'll never stumble across anything interesting when inside one of the modded buildings and the town is usually only a quick walk away so you might as well go the extra distance. Ultimately, this makes the additions outside of cities just window dressing that goes largely ignored. If you think that just window dressing is good and you just want some extra fluff to spice up the environment around towns you might enjoy it, but I felt they were merely a distraction.
Also I should note that I'm using the S.T.E.P. version from the Explorers guide which from what i can tell removed a lot of other smaller things from this mod for compatibilities sake.
This a very great and simple add on to the game. Simple yet very impactful. I was playing the game last time and noticed a couple things were missing, turns out I forgot to activate this mod. The difference is staggering.

Is it possible to make a standalone version of Windhelm Expansion ? ? ?
May I use your resources in my mod? I'd credit/link you certainly.
