I got ctd when starting a new game. I've deactivated my mods one by one and found that when I activated this one, it throws me back to desktop.I'm using the vanilla start and the bug is just right down the wagon intro. Does anyone know what's causing this?

Your main issue here is you are using the vanilla start on a modded game

Nice mod but...whats the point of the face gen files if its not going to be touching on npcs at all? Sorry for asking but I've been having trouble with body and face replacer mods and are wondering if this might have something to do with it. Specifically giving my npcs darker faces.

Why does this have facegen files? Can anyone answer? It doesnt matter who, just want to know the purpose of them as well?
      And is this mod safe?

The author released a new version on Steam some time ago:

Ingvar Tongue-of-Shor. Now that is a true and proud Nordic name indeed.

Endorsed. They add some very much needed lore locales in the game and I always find myself enjoying it when I come across them.

The only way I can really think to make these better is if they got retextured in full 2k/4k/8k packages, and to fix some of the issues below (if that's even possible). As is though, they still work and look pretty impressive. So they'll forever have a place in my load order.

    Thank you!

This mod made me realize that people may have purposely destroyed the gates because they hated what they represented. Or at least tried too.

but yah, not all of them would have been destroyed probably, and having no remnants would be silly so..

whatever I like this regardless of that assumption~

They might have also kept SOME up as bad memories such as the concentration camps as a way to show how bad things were and how many lives were lost, in both the Oblivion crisis and WW2.

If that had been the case, there would have been some book or in-game dialogue about that. No, this was just a case of Bethesda being lazy... again.

It's so incredibly pathetic that the modding community has to do Bethesda's job for them. This is a BASIC lore-consistency from the PREVIOUS GAME, Bethesderp!

Maybe they've been destroyed by the Skyrim citizens ? IDK

Just laziness. Bethesda is obviously more interested in making their games 'look' good these days than they are in maintaining their own lore.

This mod is incompatible with Vjarkell Castle in the Forgotten Vale.

There's a version of the mod specifically compatible with Inigo...

I encountered a very strange bug using this mod..

    tl;dr:
don't let dragons land near the oblivion gates.

Being an archer, when I fight a dragon I like to take cover from the damage behind environmental objects. This one time I was feeling particularly lucky, because I ended up next to one of the ruined oblivion gate, and thought that it will be a suitable cover.
Luckily I saved the game while the dragon was mid-air (because I managed to cast a light spell on it, and it looked really cool flying through the night sky), because when the dragon landed the game suddenly stopped, and my fps dropped to around 1 frame/minute.
I disabled several mods trying to find the root cause, and after a few restarts I realized the problem was caused by the oblivion gates. As soon as I disabled it, the game worked just fine.

    Great mod nevertheless!!

:o What if it's not a bug? The dragons (except Paarthurnax, who was probably aware) had nothing to do with the Oblvion Crisis. They would see these ancient relics that spew daedric magic even to this day, and avoid them as a result.

Nah, just kidding. Do you happen to have any mods that affect dragon behavior? If you do, it could be those mods expect the dragon to be landing in an open area, and instead are encountering data they're not used to. Sorta like the mod "Tales of Mirissi". I happen to have the mod "Elysium Estate" as well.

When starting Tales of Mirissi, the mod begins just a few feet from Elysium, and I have terrible frames and lag when starting that mod on a new playthrough. After I leave the area and that segment of the quest is complete, the lag ends and the frames return to normal.
