Adds rings that are worn on the left hand. You can wear two rings at
once, one on each hand. These rings can be crafted, enchanted, bought
from merchants, and found randomly as treasure.
== How It Works ==
This mod adds left-handed rings to mirror the regular right-handed
rings in Skyrim. Their names have the word "(Left)" after them. For
example, "Silver Garnet Ring (Left)". When equipped, they will appear
on the first finger of the left hand. NPCs and followers will equip
left-handed rings in their inventory.
Left-handed rings will always start as non-magical, but can be
enchanted like any other ring. They can be crafted at a forge using
the same ingredients as right-handed rings. They will randomly appear
in merchant inventories and treasure chests.
Three special rings, the "Bond of Matrimony", the "Ring of Hircine",
and the "Bone Hawk Ring", can be converted to left-handed versions at
a blacksmith's forge. You must have a regular right-handed version in
your inventory already. Then activate the forge, and look under
"Jewelry" for the recipe.
== Install ==
Nexus Mod Manager: Click the "Download with Manager" button. Once
it's downloaded, in the Nexus Mod Manager, click on the "Mods" tab,
and double-click on "Left Hand Rings" to activate it. An installer
window will ask whether you also want the Dawnguard option installed.
When you first install this mod, you'll be given a single left-handed
silver ring. This will let you know that the mod is working.
There are two .esp files in this mod. If you have Dawnguard
installed, you need _BOTH_ of them active. One is called
"LeftHandRings.esp" and the other is called "LeftHandRings -
Dawnguard.esp".
== Uninstall ==
Unequip any left-handed ring you have equipped, save your game, and
exit Skyrim.
Nexus Mod Manager: Click on the "Mods" tab, double-click on "Left Hand
Rings" to deactivate it, then click "Delete".
== Limitations ==
Left-handed rings don't show up when you're in first-person view
because it would break numerous other mods. If you want to fix this,
read the following Guide by Shadowjin.
It would be great if this mod could just switch any ring from right to
left handed on the fly. This is possible with SKSE but requires some
tricky scripting. In my experience, the result tends to be a bit
glitchy. In the interest of keeping my mod simple, I haven't added
this feature. But if you want it, look at the mods "TwoRings" by
Dienes, or "EK_RingLimiter" by ekroemer.
It would be great if this mod had left handed versions of the Ring of
Namira and all the werewolf and vampire rings. It doesn't. These
rings are hooked into various existing scripts that I would have to
modify. That would break the Unofficial Skyrim patches and anything
else (vampire mods, werewolf mods) that also modified these scripts.
Be happy I got the Ring of Hircine working.
It would be great if I manually made left-handed versions of all
160ish enchanted rings. I was too lazy to do this, but juf0816
wasn't! Here is the link to his mod:
Left Hand Enchanted Rings
You get experience for switching rings at the forge. This is hard to
fix, so just try to ignore it. Pretend you crafted one more iron
dagger while grinding Smithing.
== Compatibility ==
Left-handed rings use Biped Object slot 60 ("miscellaneous"). This
might conflict with other mods that use non-standard body part
locations, such as bandanas, barettes, etc. A conflict means that
you can't equip two items at the same time in the same body slot. Let
me know if you find conflicts.
Modified to use other slots:
* Slot 56 - Left Hand Rings Modified
Compatible:
* Bandolier - Bags and Pouches
* Cloaks of Skyrim
* Left Hand Rings Visible in 1st Person by Yegmi
* SkyJubs Invisible Helmets - No Helmet Mod
* Skyre races for left hand rings
* Wearable Lanterns
* Vampire Beast Blood Ring left hand
Mods With Slot Conflicts:
* Bandanas of Skyrim
* Black Tower and Black Sacrament Armor pack (Barette)
* Dual Sheath Redux
* Gemtastic
* Haven Bag
* Palantiri
* SOS - Mens Nipple Rings
Alternatives to this Mod:
* Equip More Rings
* EK_RingLimiter
* Multiple Rings Customized
* Skyrim Unlimited Rings And Amulets
* TwoRings
* Unlimited Amulets and Rings for the Modern Era
* Unlimited Rings
* Wedding Rings by Ezuka

== Appendix A: Changing Body Slots ==
If you have a conflict with some other mod that uses slot 60, you can
change left-handed rings to use a different body slot. You'll need to
know how to use the Creation Kit, NifSkope, and the Skyrim archive
tool.
First, read the tutorial written by FavoredSoul:
TUTORIAL: How to Map Meshes to NEW, Non-Replacing Body Parts
Modify the Armor and ArmorAddon entries in the Creation Kit as
described in the tutorial. You'll be changing the "Biped Object" of
each.
Next, modify the mesh in NifSkope as the tutorial describes. You'll
be modifying the "BSDismemberSkinInstance" block,
"Partition->Partition->Body Part" flag.
== Appendix B: Converting a Mesh ==
If you have an existing mesh, you can switch it from right to
left-handed.
Open the mesh in NifSkope. Look in the "NiHeader" block for the list
of "String" entries. There should be an entry like "NPC R Finger10
[RF10]". Change that to "NPC L Finger10 [LF10]". This switches the
ring from being on the first finger of the right hand, to the first
finger of the left hand. Save the mesh and exit.
This changes where the ring appears on your body, but doesn't change
which body slot the game thinks the ring occupies. So, you'll want to
read and follow Appendix A above as well.
== Appendix C: Mesh Names ==
If you're converting a ring that uses a standard mesh name, you don't
have to modify the mesh yourself. Just extract and use the
appropriate mesh from this mod.
The mesh names for the left-handed rings are:
* GoldRing_Left_1.nif
* GoldRingDiamond_Left_1.nif
* GoldRingEmerald_Left_1.nif
* GoldRingSapphire_Left_1.nif
* RingOfHircine_Left.nif
* SilverRing_Left_1.nif
* SilverRingAmethyst_Left_1.nif
* SilverRingGarnet_Left_1.nif
* SilverRingRuby_Left_1.nif
The Dawnguard meshes are
* DLC1HawkClawRing_Left.nif
* VampireRing01_Left.nif
* VampireRing02_Left.nif
* VampireRing03_Left.nif
* VampireRing04_Left.nif
