It should be compatible but I haven't played Enderal so I don't know for sure. Please do report the results if you try it out before me.
That said, I know Enderal was upgraded to use the SE edition of Skyrim's engine a short while ago. You will need to check which version you are using because if you use this version of my mod with the SE version of Enderal (or the SE version of my mod with the Oldrim version of Enderal), the game will crash on start due to incompatible BSA formats.
Hi. So far I played and installed this mod works with Enderal (not se version) and also along with other book mods from Skyrim and Enderal (have total 3 of them).
Adding on to the many posts below to state this mod appears to have broken my savegame.
Worked fine for many many hours of a playthrough, then suddenly I noticed previously ~(Read) books were not marked as such, and no books were being marked as read when attempting to fix it.
Only book-related issues I can think of with other mods is I recently uninstalled Dragonkiller Cart, which had 1 book marked as read (not in inventory at time of uninstall, but possibly logged in this mod's scripts and then caused freakout when the book ID couldn't be found or something?), and I recently installed Song of the Green, which appears to add a few books of its own.
I've tried the save-cleaning recommendations below on an earlier save of mine that had no suspended scripts from this mod, I've tried reinstalling the mod, I've tried purging every trace of it and still, no matter what, I can't make any new saves or transition areas without experiencing a crash to desktop.
Very unfortunate. I liked the lightweight, comprehensive nature of this mod and have used it for years. But from reading others' experiences it seems it was only a matter of time.
Would you be willing to share your saves with me so I can investigate this? Honestly, doesn't make sense because I fixed the "broken savegame" problem that everyone below complained about back in version 1.1.0 and you are the first person in the 2 and a half years since then to complain that this problem still exists. None of the people using the SE version of this mod (which started at version 1.2.0) have complained either. I do see that you previously downloaded version 1.0.2b of this mod and it appears that you only upgraded to version 1.2.1 around two hours before you wrote this post. Have you been using this ancient version of my mod without upgrading this whole time?
Installing "Song of the Green" or any mod that adds new books after my mod will not cause problems. Looking through my mod, I see that removing mods that add books you have read might be a problem, so I will have to add a fix for this oversight. Thanks for that.
Frankly, the problem has never been my mod. The problem is the incredibly buggy way that Bethesda implemented their scripting engine into the game. Especially the fact that the game glues every script that the game loads to your save from the start and never removes them. Many of the fixes I've had to put in are not because of a problem in my mod but to workaround said broken game engine. For example, in version 1.2.0, I removed all Properties from all of my scripts. This is because Properties are another thing that Bethesda decided to glue to saves, causing the issue Ceano mentioned below.
What problems are you referring to? Besides the items listed under "Known Issues", there are only two outstanding issues I'm aware of: - Incompatible with Dragonborn Gallery's library (haven't had a chance to look at or verify this one). - Doesn't work on Skyrim VR edition (believe I've fixed this but need to do some testing before I release the fix).

- Disabeled all other mods except Alternate Start - Live Another Life v3.1.7 to get a quick new start. - Started a new game with your mod and the new esp (v1.1.1). - Books did never get marked as (~Read). - Exited game and installed your old esp (v1.1.0). - Started a new game and books get marked as (~Read).
Sorry about that. Can you please try the new ESP I just uploaded. This one definitely marks books as it should. The download link is the same as before and, once again, just replace the ESP that's already there.

Well i did try it out now and i don't get it to work at all, no books is marked (~Read) for me...did try several ones. Reading them from tables and book shelfs, reading from my inventory and so on but nothing?
If you don't want to spend any more time on this so is it OK, I'm using a mod called Unread Books Glow where i disabled the glow so i only see a * in front of books i haven't read.

- Has anyone tried to use this for SSE? Does it work? I notice there is no official port.
- If you install this mid playthrough, will it retroactively apply the read status to any book you've already read or will you have to read those again to make it show?
I am planning to port this mod to SSE. There is just one update I want to release before I do so, partly to fix the bug Ceano reported below. If you want to try use it in your own copy of SSE, hypothetically it should require just converting this mod's BSA to SSE's compression format. Can't guarantee it will work without more work though.
My mod doesn't retroactively mark books that you read before you installed it. I've been looking into ways to make this work but I haven't found anything feasible yet.
1. This mod is now available for the Special Edition.
2. Version 1.2.0 will now retroactively mark books that you have already read before installing the mod. Note that this will only work on games where the mod wasn't installed before saving and so will only happen the first time you install the mod or after a clean save.
I have finally fulfilled probably the most common request in recent times and ported this mod to Skyrim Special Edition. It is a direct port of this Oldrim version and so you can expect the SE version to behave in pretty much the same way. Consider this a late Christmas present for all my fans.
There is no SE version available right now. That said, now that the SE script extender is no longer in beta, I should port my mod over.
Hypothetically, repacking this mod's BSA should be all that is required to make it work in SE. I'm guessing though and so I can't provide guarantees until I move the mod over.
My mod does keep a list of all the books you've read stored in your save so a small increase is to be expected. A 50MB increase though is way too much. I see that you did used to have an older version of this mod installed which has problems and may be interfering with the updated version. Could you please try follow my instructions under the "Crashes and performance issues associated with this mod" section and see if that helps? If not, could you please send me a copy of your save game (via PM if you don't want to share it with anyone else) so that I can look into this?

That said, I know Enderal was upgraded to use the SE edition of Skyrim's engine a short while ago. You will need to check which version you are using because if you use this version of my mod with the SE version of Enderal (or the SE version of my mod with the Oldrim version of Enderal), the game will crash on start due to incompatible BSA formats.
So far I played and installed this mod works with Enderal (not se version) and also along with other book mods from Skyrim and Enderal (have total 3 of them).
Worked fine for many many hours of a playthrough, then suddenly I noticed previously ~(Read) books were not marked as such, and no books were being marked as read when attempting to fix it.
Only book-related issues I can think of with other mods is I recently uninstalled Dragonkiller Cart, which had 1 book marked as read (not in inventory at time of uninstall, but possibly logged in this mod's scripts and then caused freakout when the book ID couldn't be found or something?), and I recently installed Song of the Green, which appears to add a few books of its own.
I've tried the save-cleaning recommendations below on an earlier save of mine that had no suspended scripts from this mod, I've tried reinstalling the mod, I've tried purging every trace of it and still, no matter what, I can't make any new saves or transition areas without experiencing a crash to desktop.
Very unfortunate. I liked the lightweight, comprehensive nature of this mod and have used it for years. But from reading others' experiences it seems it was only a matter of time.

I do see that you previously downloaded version 1.0.2b of this mod and it appears that you only upgraded to version 1.2.1 around two hours before you wrote this post. Have you been using this ancient version of my mod without upgrading this whole time?
Installing "Song of the Green" or any mod that adds new books after my mod will not cause problems. Looking through my mod, I see that removing mods that add books you have read might be a problem, so I will have to add a fix for this oversight. Thanks for that.
Frankly, the problem has never been my mod. The problem is the incredibly buggy way that Bethesda implemented their scripting engine into the game. Especially the fact that the game glues every script that the game loads to your save from the start and never removes them. Many of the fixes I've had to put in are not because of a problem in my mod but to workaround said broken game engine. For example, in version 1.2.0, I removed all Properties from all of my scripts. This is because Properties are another thing that Bethesda decided to glue to saves, causing the issue Ceano mentioned below.

Just put it in Skyrim's data folder and replace the one that is already there.
- Disabeled all other mods except Alternate Start - Live Another Life v3.1.7 to get a quick new start.
- Started a new game with your mod and the new esp (v1.1.1).
- Books did never get marked as (~Read).
- Exited game and installed your old esp (v1.1.0).
- Started a new game and books get marked as (~Read).
...so it seams like your new esp don't work?
Note that if you are using the French, German or Spanish version of the game, my mod's text will appear in English because I haven't re-localized this plugin yet. I'm sorry I'm taking so long to get back to you. I'm just currently a bit short on free time.
If you don't want to spend any more time on this so is it OK, I'm using a mod called Unread Books Glow where i disabled the glow so i only see a * in front of books i haven't read.

- Has anyone tried to use this for SSE? Does it work? I notice there is no official port.
- If you install this mid playthrough, will it retroactively apply the read status to any book you've already read or will you have to read those again to make it show?
My mod doesn't retroactively mark books that you read before you installed it. I've been looking into ways to make this work but I haven't found anything feasible yet.
2. Version 1.2.0 will now retroactively mark books that you have already read before installing the mod. Note that this will only work on games where the mod wasn't installed before saving and so will only happen the first time you install the mod or after a clean save.
Consider this a late Christmas present for all my fans.
Hypothetically, repacking this mod's BSA should be all that is required to make it work in SE. I'm guessing though and so I can't provide guarantees until I move the mod over.
I see that you did used to have an older version of this mod installed which has problems and may be interfering with the updated version. Could you please try follow my instructions under the "Crashes and performance issues associated with this mod" section and see if that helps? If not, could you please send me a copy of your save game (via PM if you don't want to share it with anyone else) so that I can look into this?
