************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** All of my spells work with SkyRe (as in "I didn't do anything that would cause them to stop working") except the contingencies. The problem is SkyRe changes just about every magic effect and has a ton of perks that depend on those changes to function correctly, so SkyRe doesn't really work with any other spells unless those other spells are explicitly modified accordingly.
Unfortunately, many Apocalypse spells don't even fit into the SkyRe paradigm - for instance it thinks every offensive destruction spell except for the master spells is a projectile, so many of its destruction spell perks depend on spells being projectiles. For instance, the perk that doubles fire projectiles and nerfs their individual damage... if the spell isn't a projectile, it just nerfs its damage, making it the world's first negative perk. Other fun interactions include SkyRe's Elemental Ram perk breaking Creeping Cold after the first tick, and if Eyes of Fire is added to the double projectile perk then it will multiply itself at an exponential rate until the game crashes (but if the spell is not added it just gets -25% damage for no benefit).
Conceptually, the anticaster niche is filled by illusion in Apocalypse (like in Oblivion and Morrowind) but by shock damage in SkyRe, while stamina hosers are in alteration in Apocalypse and in illusion in SkyRe.
All of this means I need to make many new magic effects and adjust several spell scripts and probably even the mechanics of several perks. This is the sort of thing you usually account for while developing the mod, not afterwards.
I appreciate what SkyRe is trying to do and I like most of its changes. I just disagree with its stance of "you don't need any other mod if you have this" for a game that is meant to be modded and customised. By being both "good enough" for most people and incompatible with most other mods, it forces everyone else to adapt or die. It just so happens to be that spell and perk mods are in the eye of the storm. At least armor mods only require numbers changes... *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
