ATVIR DRES: THE LAST PRINCE OF TEAR
By: JanusForbeare

Version: 0.27
===================================

==========
DISCLAIMER
==========

AD is not subject to ESRB ratings, however, if it were, it would without question be rated M (17+).

My intention in writing this mod has been to develop a vibrant, living character who is a product of his environment; a companion with the potential for enormous character growth.

I firmly believe that a character whose flaws overshadow his strengths is not only more interesting to the observer, but also more relatable.

As a result, you will find Atvir to be an embittered, foul-mouthed, prejudiced Dark Elf, who doesn't pull any punches when it comes to his beliefs - however controversial they may be.

Future updates will expand upon these aspects of Atvir's personality, and allow the player to influence his development - for good or ill.

For the time being, please understand that Atvir's opinions should not be perceived as acceptable outside of a fantasy context, nor should they be considered to reflect the personal opinions of any member of the AD dev team.

===========
DESCRIPTION
===========

Atvir Dres is a complex voiced companion, inspired by the incredible Companion Vilja mod (By Emma) for Oblivion.

This version is essentially an alpha test, all basic companion mechanics are in place, but there isn't much added content yet.

Future updates will include unique weapons, armour, and skins for Atvir (courtesy of Hopventure and Nivea), as well as improved and expanded dialogue and new content.

=========
CHANGELOG
=========

0.27 (Quickfixes)

-Archived Atvir's voice files in a .BSA, to prevent FUZ-XWM/WAV conflicts.

0.26 (Quickfixes)

-Substituted ale for flin (a custom item only available at the Cornerclub) in Atvir's introductory quest.

-Added a GetDistance function to Atvir's Bellekynd summon script. The horse will no longer be summoned if it's nearby, Atvir will simply mount it.

-Tightened Atvir's follow distance (foot and mounted, though he'll still trail behind farther while mounted than he will on foot)

========
FEATURES
========

-Hundreds of lines of fully-voiced dialogue (and counting!)
-Full companion functionality
-Seperate from Vanilla follower factions and scripts (therefore he shouldn't conflict with other follower mods)
-Does not contribute to follower count
-Tracking quest to keep tabs on Atvir
-"Call Atvir" spell to summon him to your side
-Summonable, mountable steed for Atvir
-Dialogue-driven "Set Home" and "Set hangout" (morning, afternoon, and evening) options

F.A.Q. (SPOILERS AHEAD!)
========================

Q: I've just met Atvir for the first time, and he refuses to talk to me!

A: Atvir needs a drink to loosen his lips and change his opinion of you, and he's in the mood for flin. No other drink will do; it HAS to be flin. Ambarys, the Cornerclub barkeeper, has some.

Q: Atvir doesn't seem to realize that I'm a Dunmer/Argonian!

A: Both Dunmer and Argonians will have slightly different dialogue options in the final release.

For the time being, just ignore him. Most of the comments that he makes that currently conflict with a player's race are only in the initial "Cornerclub" dialogue.

Q: I told Atvir to mount his steed, but he's just standing there!

A: Atvir won't mount up until you start moving. Walk away a few steps and he should start riding.

Q: What's with the "Did I ever tell you about the time..." dialogue option?

A: That's a placeholder for a future dialogue branch. The idea is that the player will be able to tell Atvir about his/her adventures at times of forced seperaton (for instance, Sheogorath's quest, or the dream portion of the Vaermina quest).

It hasn't been developed yet because of the difficulty of tracking down all these events.

Q: Atvir mentions black market connections in his initial dialogue. Where are they?

A: That feature will be added in a future update - the idea is to provide non-TG aligned players to get rid of a limited number of hot items per week.

Q: Atvir got mad and ran off, and now I can't find him!

A: You've trigged "Was it something I said?", a one-time quest that can occur when you try to get Atvir to leave the party.

You won't be able to use the tracking quest or your "Call Atvir" spell to find him, but you can track him down the old-fashioned way.

He's retreated to a random inn or tavern to drink away his foul temper. He could be in any of the hold capitals (note that in Riften, Atvir prefers the Ragged Flagon to the Bee and Barb).

Q: Something bad happened! What are the quest IDs?

A: Intro quest - JFADDialogueIntroStandard
Was it something I said? - JFADAngryAtvir

SPECIAL THANKS TO
=================

-AD's talented 3D artists, Hopventure and Nivea, who continue to devote hours of their time to the project.

-The Nexus' own Emma (User ID number 8... can you believe that!? Mine's 460472!), for responding to my countless pesky messages and pleas for advice - and, more importantly, for giving the world Vilja. None of this would have been possible without you.

-My folks, for their assistance in securing the recording equipment I needed, and for their unwavering moral support.

-Bethesda, for giving us Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls (and offering me a job?).

-The entire Nexus community. Your creativity and ingenuity never cease to amaze me.
