Has anyone been able to make billboards? Creation kit crashes when I try to generate the static lod and I am unable to create Billboards since the models show up purple in Nifscope.
hi. there is a problem, when i go to make the LODs, as the way that you says in Toturial Pics, (puting the static model to generate LOD, and generate Static Object LOD in WORLD LOD windows of CK)the processs Stop and say "missing texture tamrieltreelod_n.dds".... how i can fix this?
Great trees, but I have to question and clarify a few things to help others out too. your email is full.
too new users......... 1. The gkbforest.esm places trees around whiterun near the fort and tower. 2. The gkbforestclean.esm places NO trees around whiterun near the fort and tower.
I think GKB made a LOD map and it is displaying in the game regardless if you have no esm ticked. Kind of like mine craft trees up close, (put the real trees place LOOKS AWESOME)
like some thought I will use a option #2 above. you will STILL see trees in that area and as you walk up to them they looked crushed. that is because they are LOD objects. So the best way around making those LOD objects go away is delete both the tarrain folders located in the ...data\meshes\"tarrain" ...data\textures\"tarrain"
then whalla, no more crushed painted looking LOD objects when you get near them
Making a new LOD map is another story, this will just help get ride of that issue if you come across it or attempt to custom make your own world or land with out that default stuff showing up in your game.
This is no rant, but a help tip, took me and others to figure out why it was happening enjoy
if deleting any of those files are for making a LOD, I am not sure, you can always reinstall the deleted folders back in if you must in the future is they are need for it.. not 100% yet myself
I added the trees (didn't get around to loading the LODs) to my mod manually and have not had any issues other than the trees not moving in the wind. I am guessing that has something to do with my settings which I will go look at later. Adding the trees manually took me an entire morning to get through the trees. I have not gotten around to adding the statics yet.
Anyway, I just found (Hoddminir Plants and Trees) which according to the description has updated GKB Trees in it.
For the mod content itself, I was looking for trees that could believably be used for making ships and this mod has those trees in it.
The trees are great! However, my CK crushes every time I try to add a tree as a static. The included tutorials aren't very useful, I have spend several weeks trying to solve this poblem and once had to restore my esp from previous version because CK crushes immediately afrer loading esp this these trees. I transfer this esp to another computer with another version of CK and got the same result. I removed all the GKB related entries and it did worked again. As a side note,I have tried these trees an a completely new custom worldspace and have noticed a very strange behaviour of a tree. When I have selected a tree and pressed a HK (Havok Sim) button the tree falled through the ground. In another worlspace I saw nothing like that. So I have these trees all around my small island but I cannot generate LODs for them.
These are great, but they don't appear in game. The only one that's visible is the short brown tree. When I reloaded my mod in the CK and looked at my world space, they don't appear there either. The only trees there are the vanilla ones. Help?
You need to have the plugins (gkbforest.esp) for the resource checked and then your mod set as active; you then duplicate the tree(s) and from there use them.

This mod has a lot of extra LOD files that are not any use to this mod.
I kept having Solitude issues with Bards College in particular. (Where it was showing the building just kinda floating and looked terrible).
I ended up deleting all LOD files EXCEPT for (meshes \ lod \ gkbtrees)
and removed all LOD textures from the mod. (textures \ lod)
Seemed to work way better with no errors.
Also removed Tamriel.Objects.dds , Tamriel.Objects_n.dds
